Exactly What I Needed
Had a really classy leather briefcase that looked fantastic but the clasps fell apart after just a few years. Plus, I'm often trying to carry a briefcase while also holding, say, a cup of coffee and my keys, and that was REALLY challenging with a normal briefcase with just the handle on the briefcase itself. A lot of spilled coffee. So the strap on this one was very appealing and has turned out to be a game changer. Works perfectly well for me and based on other critical reviews of it, I was pleasantly surprised at the strap's width and sturdiness, though obviously I have no idea if it will disintegrate prematurely. The inside, while not as large as the prior leather one, is totally adequate, with great file folder sleeves, plenty of space for documents, several organizing pockets, AND 3 different cushioned, velcro pads that you can use to customize the interior space. Makes me happy every time I sling the strap over my shoulder.

Really nice briefcase!
The briefcase is excellent quality! Although I paid for a new one, and was sent a used one.

Sturdy, but could be better for the price
I read the other reviews about this item, and I wondered. But I required a locking case for my Alienware M14X R214" laptop. Its dimensions reads: 13.4x9.7 inches Height 1.2 inches and weight of (as I configured it) 7.8 pounds that is with the adapter. It fits very well within the case, plus I can, uhm, squeeze the auto adapter with the AC one as well. It still leaves some room for documents a few books, a DVD. three pens, Sierra Wireless 250U USB Sprint Mobile Modem and a couple of flash drives. The combination locks that people have complained about here are not as terrible as I find with my own. I agree that they could be better, but they are not as bad as I feared. They are solid, tumble well and that is what I hoped.Negative items? Oh yes. The inside is not made with quality materials. The straps that hold the document folder out of the way are way to thin and cheap. They will never hold up over time--I give it year perhaps year and a half at the most before they break with how I will be using this case. The outside of the case is well made. Even with the shoulder straps. So why could they not make the inside as good? Hence why I gave it four stars, not five.

Takes a licking...
I am a teacher and I carry my laptop, iPad, and a lot of papers to and from work daily. I upgraded from a soft-sided leather bag to this hard case for aesthetics and protection. On the second day that I used this case, I was rear-ended in a car accident. My car was totaled. Of course, my laptop was in this case in the trunk. After climbing through the rear seats to access the trunk, I was able to pull the case out. There was a substantial divot/indentation and marring in the case, but my laptop and iPad (and their data!!!) was unharmed. Four months later of heavy, daily use, I still love this case. I now have a truck, and I place the case in the bed of the truck on may way to and from school. The surface of case has begun to tear/fray/wear away at the previously mentioned divot/indentation, but it still looks and works very well.I cannot attest to the durability of the locks, as I have never set them, nor do I utilize the combination feature. I use them merely as latches, which are still fully functional and work as designed.Great product, and I will buy another when this one dies.

My dad loves it!
Bought this for my dad and he loves it! He is always throwing his briefcase around his work truck and this one holds up nicely.

Not great but not too bad either.....
I received my briefcase with a dent on the corner and agree with other comments about the locks being extremely cheap. For the price I am not going to complain as my expectations were low. It is a cheap briefcase and not something I would carry on a daily basis, I am sure it would fall apart with heavy use. I bought to store papers in and stay in the house in the closet so it will work for my needs.Update: It was nice while it lasted. One lock failed after a month and would not open, had to pry it open with a screwdriver which ruined it. I recommend not buying this briefcase.

Nice :)
I wanted a hard case for my 17.3" Laptop,& this case turned out to be just right & nice. With the shock absorbent cusions put in place my 17.3" fit's snug like a bug in a rug :)The cusions can be placed where you want them & have Velcrow on the ends so they can stay in place where you need them. I have no room for anything else around my LT after putting the cusions in where I want them. Everything else goes in the storage area. I've read the reviews on this case about a problem with the locks or latches going bad,or having poor quality, but that didn't stop me from ordering it. I'll see for myself over time. If the locks or latches become faulty over time, I can get,& I've used latches with rotating knobs with key cylinders that will fit this case just right,& I'd install one in the middle under the handle. I've done it to other cases like this one,so I'm not too concerned. I'll fix it with a lockable latch in the middle.Over all, I think this case is nice. It serves it's purpose for me,& I'll keep it.
