Awesome teaching style
Love the style that Pimsler uses to teach languages, & that they sell CDs.. I learned Spanish in my car! When I told my daughter I wanted to learn Norwegian, she suggested I try a language app. I told her that I had such a good experience with Pimsler, I'm going to always stick with them!

Almost, but not quite perfect
I decided on the Pimsleur approach because I spend so much time at the wheel. Sometimes, though, I can't quite tell if the speaker is using one consonant or another, even when the word is repeated many times and I am fully stopped in a quiet place. For that reason, I wish I could refer to a printed version of the words being spoken and would give this a full 5 star rating..

Learning to speak Norwegian
I practiced this every weekend before I left for my trip. I even used some of it and got a nice comment from a lady when I asked her a question. Most people in Norway can communicate in English, so in a way it was disappointing in not being able to use it more.

not the best method of learning
I did not like this method of learning.I questioned whether you could learn a language without any books, but the I thought that's how young kids learn a language so I thought I'd give it a try. Polish is my native language and I learned English when I started school. I never did learn to read or write in polish. I wanted the whole thing, speaking, writing, reading and this was not going to provide that

Great CD set
This is a great series of CDs that gives one the basics needed to survive, really, to respect the country. English is spoken throughout the country, so, is the CD set "really" needed? No....but it's fun to be able to say a few things in the Norwegian language.

I loved this! It was really easy to pick up and cheap for the quality! It was really fun to use because it put you in the middle of a conversation with another person (not real, if you couldn't get my drift) but works like a charm. Har deg brah!

I am SO disappointed. After 2 hours I have learned about 20 phrases that I already learned from excellent and free online sites. I feel like I'm in a boring 1960's language lab, repeating the same phrases over and over. It's only oral, so there is nothing written to refer to. I would be very confused if I went to Norway and discovered that when I read "jeg" it was pronounced "yai".Perhaps this is for people who have never learned another language and have about two years to be able to learn to have a conversation in that language. It is beneficial for learning an accent, but I doubt that Norwegians will be offended if my accent isn't perfect. Guess I'll find out!DON'T waste your money on Pimsleur. Just go online and check out the terrific free sites.
