Rain-X 600001 Windshield Repair Kit for Chips, Cracks & Bullseyes

I bought this for my dad after he got a pretty big ding in his windshield from flying debris on the highway. We were really impressed with how well this worked! The kit was easy to use, and the instructions were clear and easy to follow. For the price, it was definitely worth trying before paying for a professional repair or replacing the windshield. It saved us a trip to the repair shop and a lot more money. Very happy with this purchase!

Amazing product. This would have been my 4th windshield due to rocks from interstate hitting g windshield . I had big hopes this would work and it did not disappoint. The damage was a starburst style crack right in front of drivers side windshield. It only took a minutes to apply. No sign of the crack- highly recommend

I was really impressed with how well this Rain-X windshield repair kit worked. I had a small chip in my windshield and was worried it would eventually spread into a larger crack. The instructions were pretty straightforward, and the whole process was easier than I expected. After applying the resin and letting it cure, the chip was noticeably less visible and looked much better than it did before. For the price, this kit is definitely worth trying before paying for a professional repair, especially for smaller chips or bull’s-eyes. It may not make the damage completely disappear, but it filled the chip well and gave me a lot more confidence that it won’t continue spreading. I’d definitely keep another one of these on hand for future windshield chips.

A rock hit my windshield on the highway, leaving a bullseye chip. I picked up this Rain-X repair kit to avoid an expensive glass swap. The resin quality is outstanding, fully filling the chip and stopping cracks from spreading. Instructions were simple, I finished the whole repair in around 20 minutes in my garage. After curing, the spot is barely visible. It has survived multiple rainstorms and car washes without fading or lifting. Great durable DIY solution, I’m really impressed and will keep this kit handy for future road trips.

I’ll give 5 because I really didn’t think it would work and now I have to search to find where the crack originally was. The only thing I would change this review for is if I noticed that it started coming back. I guess I can update it later. VERY IMPORTANT if you do the whole first five steps and there is no change in the crack. Undo it and readjust it to be over the crack better. My first attempt failed so try again!

First time repair. Purchased this and the Loctite 37613 for two different cars to try to figure how well these products work in repairing a windshield. Because this product is advertised as more versatile and be used multiple times, It even can be used to fill long cracks. I decided to use this on a car that had 4 different breaks. The main windshield crack was a bulls-eye type ~ 1/2 to 3/4 inch diameter. From it, emanated three long (10 to 18 inches) cracks. In addition, the there were three more small star breaks < 3/8ths of an inch. The product was able to 85% fill the large bulls-eye crack after two attempts - i.e. repeating steps 4/5 in the instructions. Crack filling is recommended for cracks less than 12 inches long - we pushed this limit. Filling the long cracks is an art and less science. I placed adhesive along the crack line and pushed from the outside with a golf tee on each side of the crack to help the capillary action filling. In addition to pushed on the windshield from the inside along the crack. A lot of work, but it filled more than 75%. When using the product, it is hard to see filled vs. non- filled sections of a long crack. After completing this process. I added a small amount of adhesive to the pit and covered the bulls-eye break with the included plastic sheets. I also covered the long cracks using up all the sheets. These were left to cure in the sun for 35 minutes. Then the work began since the next step requires scraping off the cured adhesive from the windshield. (Next time - use less adhesive under the smoothing plastic sheets) For a bulls-eye break only, this would have been easy. RESULT: A smooth windshield - pits are all filled, 85% filled crack - could have used a hair dryer to get better results according to the instructions. And 60% filled long cracks - should not expect much better unless this repair is your day job. NOTE: It is not always easy to see if cracks are filled during the repair process. A high intensity LED flashlight is pretty good from the inside of the car. After filling 3 additional star breaks at 90% or better, I am reasonably happy with this product. I would buy it again. FYI, this product is modeled after the Novus Windshield Repair system which has always provided a good product. Patents expired long ago.

This kit so much cheaper than paying the $100 a professional windshield specialist would charge you. It will also prevent the damage from getting larger (if repaired properly) - which would cost even more money. I've had my cars' windshields fixed this way for many years now, and I can say this is probably the cheapest, and easiest way to do it. Things you need to know It takes about 1hr to do this properly - so that you're not rushing and you have plenty of time to read directions, and allow time for drying. You'll also need access to direct sunlight (to help the drying process). Depending on the nature of the chip or crack, if the damage is about the size of a quarter coin, then it's probably easily fixable with something like this kit. Larger damage may require more work, and in certain cases may not work at all. Also, if the crack is very close to the edge of the windshield glass, then it maybe difficult to repair. This kit needs about 1.75 inches clearence from the edge of the windshield to work. Anything closer than 1.75 inches and you may not be able to affix the device close enough to the crack. Lastly, you'll need some clean towels (paper towels are fine), and a razor blade(s) for scraping off excess dried resin. General procedure This kit works is by forcibly pushing liquid resin into the chip or crack and then letting the sun or ultraviolet light dry the resin. Once dried, all you have to do is scrape off the excess resin with a razor blade (the resin comes off easily in flakes). The kit comes with a device that acts as "injector" by attaching itself onto your windshield with suction cups. You simply put a few drops of resin into the injector, and wait for it to firm up. Once it has firmed up, you take off the injector device, and then place a plastic strip on top of the repair area. Let that bake in the sun for half an hour or so, and then take off the plastic strip. Scrape off excess resin, and you're done. My gripe with this otherwise great kit is that they give you only enough resin for one repair - maybe two if you're lucky. Results can vary I've had some cracks "disappear" completely with this method. Other times, the crack's impact point is filled in, but there is still some visible imperfections. The important thing is that your crack is made "stable" so that it does not grow. A stable crack is more important than a crack that still grows - in which case would result in a larger crack that could lead to windshield replacement (ouch). So if you fill in your crack or chip as much as possible, chances are it won't grow. If it does, then you should consult a professional windshield repair service. Tip: After the resin dries, carefully score the surface of the dried excess resin with a razor blade (but be careful to leave the impact area alone). Then, using some household tape (I used scotch tape), just lift off the excess dried resin. For the impact area, just make sure it's completely filled and dried. Otherwise, touch it up with small drops of resin, letting it dry, until it's nicely filled.

Me sirvió para reparar estéticamente una quebradura en mi parabrisas el cual me cuesta $5,500 y aunque no desapareció completamente al menos ya no me causa molestia visual la quebradura. Yo diría que la quebradura al menos un 60% desapareció y con eso ya pasa desapercibido a mis ojos. También lo usé para tapar una estrellada de piedra en el carro de mi papá y ahí sí la desapareció un 80%. Continuando con mi carro, le tuve que hacer un hoyo al final de la quebradura para que no siguiera extendiéndose más. La resina me ajusto para tapar 3 agujeros (para evitar que la quebradura siga corriendo) y 2 estrelladas de piedra más unos 25 CM de cuarteada. Comentarios adicionales: Al pasar unos 6 meses el producto desapareció, es como si nunca le hubiera aplicado nada. La grieta se ve en su totalidad.

Das Ergebnis war gut. Ich habe die Anweisungen im YouTube-Video befolgt und keine UV-Lampe verwendet. Ich habe tatsächlich nur fünf bis sechs Tropfen benutzt. Hoffentlich brauche ich es später nicht mehr. :)
