LOVE this filament!
First time ever using this brand and I just love it so much! I love the way it feels, it’s very smooth m, it’s not super transparent which I like because you still get the rich colors but I’m sure that also depends on what you are printing. I have never had any issues with the filament, no tangles, no stringing, no breakage etc. the photos don’t do the colors justice!

Great filament!!
This stuff prints beautifully!! I have been going through each one to print flowers for Mother’s Day. I am impressed and will 100% purchase again. This brand of filament has always been good for me. I print on a Flashforge AD5X and a Bambulab P2S. It works perfectly on both.

Good for low detail prints but too brittle for high detail
I purchased both the assorted packages for both "bright shine" and "silky shine metallic gold", so this review reflects my experience with both types of Mika3D PLA filament. UPDATE: I have continued to struggle with this filament under-extruding/jamming, particularly when printing finer detail with a 0.25mm nozzle. Fortunately, I just found a setting in PrusaSlicer that seems to have solved this problem by limiting the maximum flow/pressure. By setting the "Max volumetric speed" I'm able to keep the extruder from attempting to push too much filament through too quickly and avoid this brittle filament breaking off in hobbed bolt grooves and eventually slipping. Prusa suggests a default value of Layer Height × Extrusion Width × Speed. My Prusa Mini with Bondtech extruder upgrade and 0.25mm nozzle is currently printing with a max volumetric speed of 0.75mm³/s and no sign of under-extrusion. This is conservative and I plan on testing higher flow rates since it nearly doubled my print time but, if the other option is wasting time being frustrated by failed prints and extrusion issue or throwing away the 20+ different rolls of Mika3D filament I've purchased, I consider this a win. --- ORIGINAL REVIEW: Once I got my settings dialed in for good print bed adhesion (configuration below), I was quite pleased with this filament for larger low-detail items such as toys and brackets. The primary difficulty I've found with this filament is that it's too brittle for the extruder gears to move back and forth repeatedly for detailed work. Any time I've tried to print at 0.10mm or less. The first several layers print beautifully in fine detail (0.05-0.10mm) but, as the extruder gears move the filament back and forth, the sides break off and collect in the extruder gear teeth. This results in less traction and more friction on the same spot. Eventually the filament stops extruding and, when I unload it, you can see where sides are ground down to a narrow point where the gears no longer had enough traction.. It's worth noting that the temperature tower I printed (see photo) showed consistently good quality between 190C and 215C with significant stringing starting around 220C. Original Prusa i3 MK3S (PC bed) Recommended Settings: Layer Height: 0.15mm or higher Extruder Temp (first layer): 230C Extruder Temp (other): 215C Bed Temp (first layer): 80C Bed Temp (other): 70C

Pretty, Printed Well
Bought this to make a bunch of dragons for gifts and stuff for my Etsy shop and it is GREAT! Colors change in a decent amount of time so you get pretty good color changes throughout a print. Didn't have any issues with it breaking or anything (I did dry it before printing).

DO NOT BUY THIS!!!! Very brittle and breaks easy
***editting again because every time I try to use this crap I hate it even more. I didn’t want to be wasteful but at this point it’s more of a hassle. I’m up at 1 am cleaning little broken filament pieces out of my tubing and my hot end because it’s such crap. The pics are from 8/1 when the brown decided to break and clog up my whole printer. I hate this stuff!!!!*** ***editting because I’m just so frustrated that I’m going to throw all this filament away and since it’s past the return window I’m just throwing away money**** This filament breaks SO much that it’s constantly breaking even when trying to extrude it. I’ve had to disassemble my printers and pull out every broken bit so many times because it just breaks so much. In my Anycubic printers with tubing, it breaks in the tubing. In my creality printers it breaks mid print and I can’t even trust to leave it unsupervised. It breaks in small pieces getting stuck in the extruded and causing me to have to disassemble my extruded and fish out tiny half inch pieces that are blocking the other mechanisms. This filament is a good price but it snaps really easy. Like mid print it has snapped off on me. It is frustrating too because then I have to babysit the machine until the filament gets to the extruder so I can add new filament to the print. I’m past my return window but will not be buying this again.

Try it out
Nice filament so easy to use I would buy it again. The seller got back to me fast with my questions.

Cool Filament, but...
This filament printed very well with a nice metallic sheen. The sheen is enhanced with slower wall speeds (~50mm/sec) like most silk filament. The color pattern is attractive, and the color change rate is good for what I've been using it for. However, the colors are not as depicted in the ad, and are not at all as vivid as shown. The green is more like a pale mint green. There is no blue, and the red disappears into the violet very quickly. The yellow gold and the violet are the most pleasing colors here. As you can see in my picture, the colors appear to cycle between shades of yellow, violet and green. I bought a second spool of this in hopes that the first spool was a fluke but alas, that wasn't the case. The new spool appears virtually identical to the first. I would have rated this better than 3 stars but I'm not a fan of what seems to be either deceptive advertising, or poor quality control.

Very satified with MIKA3D Filament
First of all I have to say we (me and my 10yo son, are pretty new to 3D printing. We are using an Ender 3 S-1 printer. We have printed about 25 to 30 projects before using the MIKA3D filaments. We bough the 12 bright silk colors box. My son wanted to try printing small toys and gidgets of different colors and we thought this pack woul be a great choice. The colors are great, pretty bright and vivid. We had absolutely no problem using the usual 200 nozzle/60 bed configuation. We made sure the bed was levelled. By the way....just make sure you perform your Z axis and Z offset when your nozzle and bed are at required temperature. The prints came out perfectly and with all the details. We had not adherence problem at all, even with small parts not having a brim. So as our experience is limited, I can't compare with many others........but they really perfomeed as well as the more expensive filaments we are using. I will reorder different colors....and we are eager to try a fluorescent and a light in the dark filament from MIKA3D!
