Don't buy this - it is a piece of defective crap. I already bought 3 of them and each one turned out to be defective - two of them had the slit that was impossible to open and one had the flipping hart that even my husband had troubles opened. Save your time and buy some other bottle.

Love-hate relationship
I have a love-hate with my camelbaks. I would rate a 2.5 if i could. Yes, they do encourage me to drink more. But, it took work to figure out how to use it including cutting a slit in the mouth piece when it came. I sucked to no avail and had to look online how to get it going. I agree with others that it's impossible to clean, I had to look that up too when I realized I was drinking out of a mouldy bite valve :( I lost a straw to one of the small eddys and ended up having to buy two bigger straws (quite expensive, btw) and cut off the bottom of the straw so that it would fit. Finally, 5 months into usage and, yes, they do loosen up, yes they continue to be gross and difficult to clean (for instance one has stubborn mold that I just cannot get out, so had to buy replacement bite-valve), but now they are leaking! On the desk, in my purse, on clean laundry. That was one of the two most awesome things going for them, aside from increased fluid intake. If I didn't feel semi-forced to use them, I'd go back to the old ways. :)

Meh...I don't think this one is for me.
I've purchased several Camelbak kids version for my son. I wanted to have a way to up my water consumption while on the go (in the diaper bag). I figured I'd try one myself. It's horribly hard to get open. As a mom I don't really have time to use both hands and struggle with the slipper mouth piece while trying to pry it open. Maybe it gets better with age... Then drinking...I have really sensitive teeth so if I carry cold water it is impossible to give the bite piece enough pressure and stay out of the way of teeth pain (from the cold water gush). I know Camelbaks are well known but I don't think this cup is for me. But at $8.99 from Amazon Prime I'm not too upset about it.

Very good product
Purchased the 1L size, which works well for extended use. Be advised though that it doesn't fit most cupholders in cars or water-bottle clips on bikes.

YAAAAAAAS
Get it. Clean it semi-regularly. Love it. Never be dehydrated again.I bought this water bottle because I have a big issue with dehydration. I now try to drink at least 5 of these per day. It is easy to drink water from these bottles and is a nice measurement for how much to drink. I also feel environmentally responsible because I NEVER use disposable water bottles anymore. I just bring this one with me everywhere! This is the second camelbak I've owned and I had trouble with the first one molding even with cleaning, but this one has not had that issue at all. Just some soap and hot water gets it back to new! My only complaint is mine has some obvious scratches from living in my purse.

Biting a piece of plastic before sipping water ? really ??
I am shocked to see so many positive reviews.I bought 2 of them and I am ready to throw both of them.Biggest problem is difficulty in drinking, biting the plastic and sipping feels very weirdand the water hardly comes. If you decide to buy - Just imagine yourself biting a piece plastic before sipping water.Do you want to do that each time?I suspect all the positive reviews are fake.

Good Idea, Bad Execution
This is a good idea in theory, but the execution is flawed. I had many problems with this water bottle leaking when I owned it.If I would leave this in the car/sun on a hotter day, the heat would cause the air and liquid to expand, forcing the water up through the straw and out the cap on top. This would often leave me with a mess to return to if the water bottle was left unattended. Also once when flying, the cabin pressure caused the water to be forced out of the straw (and for me, unfortunately, into a huge mess on my lap while I was taking a nap).I had this water bottle for about two years, and put up with the leaking, until the straw nozzle piece on top eventually broke off.Personally, I find the following style from CamelBak much more effective, I have no problems with leaking, and it's really pretty easy to clean. I've had it for about 4 months. http://shop.camelbak.com/chute-75l/d/1282_c_201_cl_4503

Have had no issues with it and easy to wash in the dish washer
I was loving my water bottle until today! Have had no issues with it and easy to wash in the dish washer. I have owned it for about 3months. Today though, it started leaking around the lid when I drink out of it. I have contacted them about a replacement lid.Other than that, I love it!
