Great Deal for the Money!!
I was looking at the Slingbox products, but didn't want to pay that much. This device is great because it has wireless capability built in! No extra adapters needed, unlike Slingbox products. It even has a switch on the back to set to client mode so you can use with your current wireless router. The wireless works better than expected. The initial setup was a little challenging, only because of the many features of the product. Luckily though, I didn't have to call support...whew. The software viewer supplied was easy to install and setup. This product even has a feature where it will get your remote control settings using your existing remote control of your DTV or Cable box remote. The viewer software displays a virtual remote control, which looks exactly like the one at home. Pros: Great price! Wireless built in! Great video quality with no lags, even using wirelessly. Remote control feature makes no down time while using how to work the controls! Only cons that I can point out: Set asise a few bucks for a set of component cables, only composite are included No HDMI, but luckily my DTV receiver will output HDMI and component at the same time, so I didn't have to use the pass through feature

Maybe IT works. But not for my internet. ...
Maybe IT works. But not for my internet. Besause my provider says that I have no cable connections with my internet. I'm in a zone where internet is only available not cable.

Streaming works--remote control does not
I use this device to stream tv to my laptop and psp. I was able to set it up without too much trouble. It's great to be able to stream to my psp and take it anywhere in the house--like in the bathroom while I get ready in the morning. That said, I have never been able to get the remote to work with my Dish Network. I have spent considerable time trying to figure this out. Ultimately, I have decided it will be less time consuming to go back upstairs to change the channel on the satellite box than troubeshooting the system. When programming a remote, it asks you to point your device remote at the infrared receiver on the LF-V30. NO response from the Dish remote. Even bigger joke, NO response from the PS3 remote, and a message that says it doesn't recognize the SONY Bravia TV remote!!! What a joke. This is a Sony product, right?! I read additional reviews and found I am not the only one struggling with the remote issue. Happy to hear some people got it to work for them. Again, I am just done trying. In the end, the streaming works nicely, I enjoy it, but the inability to get the remote control feature to work is a source of continual annoyance.

Slick device, complicated setup, Mac users beware
Device does what it promised. Sony makes it much of it straightforward. For reasons that are unclear I had difficulty making the component inputs take a signal and pass it on. I almost think that you need to power cycle the device anytime you make changes, even hardware ones. Despite recommendations of 300kbps for upload speed, the best picture comes from 4mbps which I easily got over a wired and wireless connection to my Time Capsule (not Base Station). My signal from the Base Station was Fair so I couldn't get a consistently good picture unless I left it wired. It is located a floor and 2 rooms away from my Time Capsule. The LocationFree Player for Mac OS X is a separate purchase and nearly impossible to find. It is of poor quality compared to the Windows version. If you are a Mac user, run Parallels in windowed mode (not coherence, otherwise black and white picture only) then use the software provided with it. You will be much happier. The PSP setup was straightforward and worked fine. Output from the PSP via component cable to a 42 inch LCD HDTV was surprisingly good. Definitely soft picture but all things considered, very good. Sony support was helpful with setup and minimal hold time. If setup was easier I would have given it 5 stars.

Too Difficult to set up
I found this product very difficult to set up and I am not a novice on the computer. The product comes with a so called manual but you have to go on online or stay on hold to wait to speak to a represenative, took me 3o mins. waiting before speaking to a rep. I am having to contact support again since I have more than one computer and it does not allow you register the base station , if the key is registered already to one computer. It took a over 2wks to receive the item.

Very, Very cool. A must have!
This product is similar to the "Sling Box", however, the Sony LocationFree Base is WiFi enabled (no Ethernet cable needed, unlike the Sling Box), so this is more flexible than the Sling Box, and a Sony product. The only issue I had, is that the setup instructions are VERY insufficient. There's pretty much no way you'll be able to set it up by yourself (and I'm pretty technically savvy),You'll definitely need to contact Sony customer service to get it up and running. Sony's customer service is great, and they will access your computer to make all of the correct adjustments to your router, etc. Once it is set up correctly it is amazing! You can view up to two video sources through the unit. You can watch on your PC or from anywhere on your Laptop via the Internet. My boyfriend is an International Flight Attendant, and with this, he can watch any shows on my TV, DVR or Netflix Player from anywhere in the World that he may be. You gotta get this!

Love it:)
great device, works great with PSP and PC. i read reviews that installation was a little more than expected. i found the installation to be a breeze, very easy. lol, i failed to use the ir (infrared) blaster. therefore, my remote was not working, DUU. basically, the ir blaster is a little device that plugs into the base station and sends the single out to cable or sat box like your remote would. place the end with the ir tip near your cable or sat box. i am very pleased. hope you enjoy yours as much.

Beware of buying too soon after new tech comes out
Proprietary software that stopped working when the company closed business.
