Review: They don't get it - When you play this game -assuming that it works without breaking in the middle, which is saying much, given the bad experience of other reviewers, you get the feeling that it is a chore, not a joy. It is a notch above doing the laundry and a notch below doing the dishes. You are left with the clear determination that you don't want to play it again, but you are not sure why you hate it so much. If you are like me, a lover of Strategy games, and especially of turn-based strategy, you may wonder about your reaction. After all, it has the grand strategy. It has the graphics. It has all aspects of government and not only the military part, a deficiency in several other games. It is only when you play a really good turn-based strategy game, as the Civilization series, that you realize what's missing. See, the creators of this game don't get us, strategy lovers. By definition, we love the big picture, the big decisions. We love to see clear consequences of our decisions in real time, and modify our strategy accordingly. We do not like minutiae. Yet, this is exactly what this game is: a pile of disconnected, difficult to follow, over-complicated details. The speeches of your "advisers" don't help, either. Having all these voice recordings only serves two purposes: using up way too many Megabytes and boring you to death. Please do not buy it. Bad game-making should not be rewarded. Review: At first it seems amazing... - The game starts out with a great opening cut scene and than you start the game. Wonderful map, tons of information, lots of choices. In fact, maybe too realistic, as everything you do, from minor adjustments to the budget to major dealing with other nations can have both short-term, and long term results. The people may love you, but the governing party or the army may decide to shoot you. Or the other way around. And it could be for the tiniest of things you did weeks ago in game time and can't even remember. A lot of the cause and effect is invisible, as like in real life, what you do may cause changes and events that you didn't even know were linked. A player can easily become overwhelmed and upset on how problems can pile up. And the game is SLOW - when you go 30 real seconds for a game day, it could take half the day to play a year! You start to notice little things, like many of the people look alike, have the same voice, and meetings with most of your own people don't really seem to do anything. Some leaders get mad at you for just offering them wine. Japan refused to deal with me half the time and I had, for a few weeks, 100% approval rating. You would think if all my people loved me the other nations would be more willing to deal with me. Wars are almost impossible to win and sometimes get way out of control. As China I invaded Taiwan. It took forever to get the military moving - the AI is stupid and when you have to do it all YOURSELF it can get tiring. By the time the conflict between us was over half the globe was still declaring war on the rest of the globe - it was like their reaction was delayed by a game week or something. There is also the fact that your people may wish you to help Russia against Poland or help France against the US of A. HOW?!?! If you China or India or a nation in the middle of nowhere, that's just unrealistic. Your armies and ships will end up pissing off other nations as they rush through their borders. A land war in Europe between Poland and Germany drew in Russia, Spain, England, France, Turkey, Iran and just kept spreading. The military units kept crossing borders to get at the enemy and triggered more fighting. Fighting broke out in South America between some of the European controlled islands and even Japan entered the war. Even while some people want you to join your allies others will get upset if you move one unit! Even the use of atomic weapons will get strange results. The UN once backed me up after I used it against Taiwan! What?!?! The end result is you'll very likely be shot or replaced within a year of game time. Many people don't last a month! And that makes for bad replay value too. I have to say I never had it crash but sometimes the words are replaced with nonsense code in the newspapers or the trade screen - something failed to be translated properly. End result - I miss playing Civilization I!

Good game, until the updates come
This is actually a good game that has many realistic features of running a country. However, it is odd that increases in spending and the abortion of terrorism is actually not as popular with the public as you might think. Indeed, it is also all about the investment in culture that shall make your citizens really happy! However, then the updates come with corrections, which after you install it, it shall make the program unworkable, because the setup file goes some where and wastes time and money.

2nd edition of GPS
This is the follow up to "Commander in Chief: Geo-Political Simulator 2004", well it is updated to reflect current conditions around the world. As "The President" it is up to you to lead your nation. As before you better listen to your people and of course you will conduct all necessary requirements of the "President" to run a country. This edition also CTD (Crash To Desktop) or Freezes too. Again I keep trying to play it, because it is fun and so real, but buggy like the first game, (It`s a shame) There is a new 2013 version out now called "Masters Of The World: Geo-Political Simulator 3", again undated for our present world and with new features, i have not purchased it as of yet, i hear it is much, much more stable than the first two games, i don`t know for sure, until i get it. Thanks

Glitch city
This game really looked awesome so i took a chance. The game is real glitchy its seems that at some points you can have a 95% approval rating and lose the game because the people hate you?? Really?? how does that happen?? Also the game is impossible to play with its goals that can never be reached. For example anything to do with war or invading (even if its your goal) cannot be done as your approval rating will drop and the game will end. And if you dont meet your goals the game will end on you as well. It gets real boring sitting around watching your budgets. Another important thing is your computer must be a gaming computer or this game will lag badly and you will lock up your computer if you try zooming in at all.For the money i recommend by passing this and picking up Making history the calm and the storm.

It's an alright game..... Battlefield 4 is better.
Decent game, user interface is iffy. Watch some youtube videos of this game before you buy it. It's a good time killer for sure.

Good buy, fun game, very few bugs.
Not as many bugs as people have said, I found no major issues running: Windows 7 64 bit AMD Athlon II X2 240 2.80 GHZ 8 GB RAM ATI Radeon HD 5500 1 GB DDRR3 Only big issue is the lag when alot of troops are being deployed, but can managed by leaveing military mode before going to the next day. More control would be nice also a smarter AI. Have not tried the Modding Tool looking to buy it see how it works. It's a fun game and looking forward to where they take it in the future.
