Environmentally Friendly Weeding!
Trying to encourage wildlife into the garden and keep it pet-safe and child-safe can be a problem if you use conventional weed-killer in a solution, likewise I wasn't happy with the idea of pressurised gas canisters so thought I would give this a go. It is excellent, you can treat just the weed on the path or drive without worrying about neighbouring plants. Firstly, you do NOT have to incinerate the weed, just 5 to 8 seconds of direct heat will destroy the weed and the roots. Weeds with very deep roots may need more than one use, but so far this has killed everything we've used it on first time. Secondly, cable length, nobody in their right mind should really be expecting this to come with a hundred foot or more of flex (which we needed), that's what you buy an extension cable for. So criticism of the amount of flex it comes with are (imho) spurious and pointless. Thirdly, it is value for money, compare the initial purchase cost against purchasing a dedicated weed-sprayer or watering can, and then the repeat cost of chemical against the small amout of electricity this uses and it clearly makes financial sense to use this electric weed killer. Finally, it's environmentally friendly, it only kills what you aim it at, rather than everything around it, also there are no toxic chemicals to worry about if you have children, pets or a wildlife pond. All in all a robust and very satifactory purchase. A+++

Does the job
Well satisfied with this. It does the job if you follow the (simple) instructions. Easy and safe to use - though I wouldn't give it to an 8-year-old! Wish the cable was longer.

easy to use and value for money
This is so good,, I cannot bend easily/and have knee problems, as I do the gardening, this is just so good for getting rid of the weeds, it does smell a bit in the begining and does flare up if near dry leaves, I alway have a can of water just in case, but have never needed to us, it does what it says, so easy to use, just 5 secs over weed and its gone, I did all of my back garden path so quickly and have just done the front pavings, I cannot express how this has help me, I was unsure when ordering as there are so many on the market, but this is light to carry, you do need a extension lead, that is the only fault really the lead is very short, but its fab.

Could be better
Very disappointed. Easy to use if you only have weeds within a few feet of your power points! Ridiculously short electric lead meaning that a long extension lead is necessary to use it properly. It did burn the weeds but only time will tell if the roots are killed too. Look for one with a long lead.

Works well
This is a very good garden tool at a very reasonable price. Works well to burn off weeds, even the bigger ones are dead within a few days. It has a short lead and you will need an extension cable but that wasn’t an issue as already had one. Liked the fact it was electric and not canisters. A previous reviewer mentioned keeping some water to hand which was good advice. Although I didn’t need it you could see why you might if there were lots of dry weeds about. Mine mostly fizzled out and smoked. I just wish the rain would stop so that I could use it more! Very happy with it so far. Edit:-The weeds just grew back nice and healthy so it didn’t actually kill them! A temporary effect.

A great big load of rubbish
The things heated element stopped working and the weeds that I did burn returned. Glyphosate is a better and cheaper option. Now residing on the tip.

Satisfactory
It does zap some weeds, but others it doesn't touch even with 3 + attacks. Decent length cord, but it does start to get warm. Not bad for the price

works well for its price.
Some reviewers dont appear to read the instructions. Just 5 seconds is enough for weeds to be visibly dead or dying the next day. Attempting to burn them away to nothing would take too long and risk overheating the machine. Instructions say switch to low heat for about a minute to cool it down before switching off,and although it doesnt say so this might also be a good idea if it shows signs of overheating if used for a long time. (mine hasnt so far) Its a budget product so may have a limited service life especially if misused, but thats probably true of similar ones sold at a higher price. But it only costs the same as a few litres of ready mixed chemical weedkiller and by this measure mine has already paid for itself. Good for spot weeding on patios, driveways etc . Chemical spray may be better suited for larger areas.
