Pewter Craft

Well, I am annoyed. The book's title and description are SERIOUSLY lacking. They imply that there are a variety of techniques and projects in this book. There aren't. The only technique is embossing purchased pewter sheet metal, and the projects are variations on this one technique.In Ms. Griffith's defense, I must say she does lovely work, and has a very pleasant and informative style of writing. If you are looking for a relatively simple and inexpensive craft, this is a lovely book, which is why I gave it four stars. If you are looking for any other information on pewter crafts, then not so much.There was a review by Booklist, but I didn't get the impression from it that this book dealt ONLY with embossing, rather that it was another technique included. I suppose I'll keep the book and add it to my craft book pile, rather than be arsed to return it, but it really should be retitled. I doubt I'll ever use it.

A new craft for me, and because of this book full of examples and ideas I look forward to trying it out. A clearer explanation of the tools required would have been much better. I am a visual learner!

This book is about pewter embossing on sheets of pewter. If you have something else in mind it is not the book for you.

This book was very informative, with clear instructions, and simple projects to familiarize one with working with pewter - a very seductive material that most metal artists will love..

I took a hands on course in Quartzsite, AZ and this is one of the books the instructor had. We used some patterns from this book and they turned out fantastic.Easy to read, great for beginners or the more advanced artisan.Would recommend it to all my friends.

Too basic and very limited. Really only one technique, which is to draw on pewter sheet with a stylus and wrap it around or stick it onto something else
