you may want to use a different shampoo on the rest of your hair?  I use this on my scalp only, and a shampoo to lather the rest.  a bottle lasts me about 2 months, but I don't wash my hair daily...

Is this safe for color treated hair?

I would think so, although I am not positive. I used to color my hair and am growing it out and it hasn’t damaged the colored portion.  It is excellent shampoo - not harsh at all.
