Petmate Open Cat Litter Box, Large Nonstick Pan, Grey

I've had an awesome time with these litter boxes. I got a bunny two months ago and she was 3 months old. I was looking for a litter box that was a cheap price, good quality, and a good size. I got the small size and it fit her perfectly. (Until she grew out of it and I had to get a new one. I chose to get a stainless steel one, then.) Now my bunny is 5 months old and I wanted to get her a new one for her playpen so she doesn't pee on the carpet. So I got the medium size. Again, I was looking for a cheap price, good quality, and good size. Again, I had the same great experience with the litter box! She's enjoyed it, I’ve enjoyed it. Win-win. I totally recommend this box for any pet owner. Cat owner or rabbit owner, I guarantee this litter box is a great option!

I recently bought the Petmate Litter Pan, Blue/Gray, Small, Made in USA and have been using it for a few weeks — overall, I’m satisfied with it. What I like: It is a good size for a small cat or even a kitten, and fits well in tight spaces or corners. The plastic feels sturdy and durable — it does not feel thin or flimsy when I scoop or move it. It is lightweight and easy to lift, which makes cleaning the litter simple and quick. The blue/gray color looks clean and does not show stains easily, which helps the litter box area stay tidy. What could be better: Because it is a smaller-sized pan, larger cats might feel cramped — it is not great for big or long cats. It does not have a cover or high sides, so litter can sometimes get kicked out if the cat digs vigorously. Overall, it is a practical, no-frills litter pan that works well for small cats or kittens. If you have a small cat or want a basic, easy‑to‑clean box for a spare litter area (like a second bathroom or utility room), it is a solid choice.

It’s especially good for cats that dislike enclosed spaces. There are no lids, filters, or moving parts—just scoop and go. The smooth plastic interior makes daily maintenance quick and straightforward. One of the biggest advantages, it’s significantly cheaper than most alternatives while still getting the job done. Because it’s open and the sides aren’t very high (depending on size), cats that dig aggressively may kick litter outside the box. This does not look or feel that large, and tthe sizing can be misleading, what’s labeled “large” may feel small for bigger cats if you don’t check dimensions carefully. Mine also arrived cracked so I put a piece of tape on it to take a picture and protect my hands. Customer service was excellent and they refunded me right away so I could order another one. There’s no built-in odor control (no lid, filter, or carbon layer), so smell depends entirely on litter quality and cleaning frequency. This works best for Kittens or average-sized cats and Cats who hate enclosed/hooded boxes. This is Not ideal for Large or long-bodied cats (consider a “giant” size instead) This does not include a scooper so you’ll have to buy one separately. This Petmate open litter box is a solid, no-nonsense choice for smaller cats. It’s not fancy, but it’s reliable and gets the job done. If you want something affordable and easy, it’s a great pick—but for bigger cats or cleaner floors, you might want a deeper or larger model.

My cat was getting spayed and I needed a small litter box to put in her enclosure. I was actually going to put her in one of my veterinary kennels at home, but she could get out due to the latch being broken. I put this litter box in her large cat carrier but there just wasn't much room. It was too much of a tight fit with her food dish, water dish, bed, and the litterbox. She had no room to walk. I ended up going to my storage unit an hour away to get my catio for her. While I just used her enclosed litterbox in the catio, I did set this litterbox up in a different room. This litterbox would be great for kittens or smaller cats. My cat is about 7lbs but she is tall and lanky. My other cat is a little on the chunky side. This litterbox is easy to clean. It holds up well and has not cracked. I plan on just leaving it in my spare room. It didn't work for my intended purpose, but it does work. The price on this was very good.

The Petmate Giant cat litter box works wonderfully. I have three of them and can’t imagine being satisfied with any smaller litter boxes. I have three six-month-old sibling kittens who really appreciate the extra depth of litter and the extra surface area. At times they provide support for each other in using the box and help each other cover their business; so the extra size (25.56 x 18.3 x 10.02 inches) is really wonderful. I’ve found that “Fresh Kitty Super Jumbo Litter Box Liners” (43” X 21” X 2.0 mil thick) fit my Petmate Giant cat litter boxes with enough liner left to fold well over the sides. I secure my cat litter box liner with “Coopay 12-inch Large Heavy Duty Rubber Bands” that easily fit around the box and liner and can be tucked up under the lip of the box so they’re up tight, out of sight, and in the groove. I replenish the litter as needed to keep four to five inches of litter in the box, and the cats may puncture the liners; but don’t shred them as other reviewers have reported. I have been trying two different types of litter lately, Arm & Hammer Lightweight Clump & Seal AbsorbX and Arm & Hammer Double Duty Clumping Litter. AbsorbX has the consistency of fine sand. Double Duty has a larger grit. They are each an excellent product, clumping and containing odor equally as well as the other. It is easier to pass the scoop through the AbsorbX litter twice a day; because it is a finer grit, and lighter. Over the past month I have found that there is more dust, more litter kicked out of the box, and more litter tracking with the AbsorbX, and that the cats seem to prefer using the Double Duty as that box now gets as much use as the two AbsorbX boxes combined. Each of my Petmate Giant cat litter boxes uses a little more than one box of either litter to reach a four-inch depth. One box of AbsorbX weighs 15 pounds. One box of Double Duty weighs 40 pounds. My routine for changing them out at the end of the month includes removing the rubber band that I use to secure the liner, pulling the liner’s drawstring tight while it’s still in the litter box; then sliding the box into a contractor bag and tipping it until the liner and any stray litter that may have leaked out through small punctures fall completely into the contractor bag. The weight difference in using the Double Duty will be an additional challenge; but seeing that cats’ preference, having less airborne dust, less litter on the floor, and seeing almost no tracking make that an acceptable tradeoff for me personally. With three kittens; I scoop all three boxes twice a day, and the kittens love having a purrr-fectly fresh powder room in which to answer nature’s call. Update: Now that they three little kittens are turning three years old, I have had to add a fourth litter box. I didn't have another appropriate location in the house for a litter box; so I just turned the one that had been getting the most use sideways and put the new one next to it a few inches away. It has worked out great over the last few months. The cats appreciate the extra freshness that this provides. They are still using the Arm & Hammer Double Duty and still very pleased with it. The boxes are still as good as new, and thankfully the cats only do their business in the boxes.

Perfect size for a 4-12 week old kitten. He could climb in and out easily without help. It is very small. Not recommended for adult cats.

Bac vraiment grand, avec le rebord bien haut pour empêcher les projections à l'extérieur. Remplit bien sa mission. A peine ai-je eu fini de l'installer qu'il a été immédiatement "validé" par mes deux chats. Depuis, son taux de "fréquentation" est très élevé.... et le nettoyage est facile car il n'y a pas de couvercle à retirer. Vraiment très bien.

FINALLY a litter tray that’s big enough to accommodate my two adult cats! Both can use the tray at the same time, and dig around until their little hearts are content with only minimal litter landing on the floor in the event of a particularly overzealous digging session. We no longer use a mat with the tray because for the very small amount of litter that either gets kicked out or comes out on their paws, it’s easier to just hoover it up straight off the floor. Also this tray is big enough for them to use a few times each during the day, which is great as they are indoor only cats and we work, so not available to clean it out every single time they go - which was needed with smaller trays we have tried! Requires a lot of litter to fill the tray - we use a sand style clumping litter and needed two 12kg bags to fill it but this is more than worth it for the lack of mess and comfort for the cats. Highly recommend if you have more than one cat and/or indoor only cat(s), especially if they loooooove to dig as mich as mine do!

Huge & helps keep litter inside even for my over-kicking and digging cat. Enough space for her to be comfortable. Won't mind buying again

I ordered this litter tray for our pet bunny, so that it covers a larger part of her toilet area and makes for easier cleaning, when compared to a smaller litter tray. I did trim a corner off, to provide her an entrance way. The only thing I would say, as a negative, is that it’s expensive for a plastic tray, but apart from that, it’s easy to clean and it does what’s intended. I ordered it because it was the size that I was looking for, so overall, I’m pleased with it.
