My daughter is obsessed with her new closet!
I recently purchased the Wire Shelving Kit for organizing my home, and I couldn't be more pleased with its performance. First and foremost, the quality of this shelving kit is outstanding. The wire construction is sturdy and durable, providing ample support for all of my belongings without bending or sagging. I feel confident storing even my heaviest items on these shelves. Installation was a breeze, thanks to the simple and intuitive design of the shelving kit. With just a few basic tools, I was able to set up the shelves in no time at all. The adjustable height feature allowed me to customize the configuration to perfectly fit my space, whether I needed tall shelves for storing bulk items or shorter shelves for organizing smaller items. The versatility of this shelving kit is also a major plus. The open wire design allows for optimal airflow, making it perfect for storing pantry items, linens, or even electronics without worrying about moisture buildup. Plus, the sleek and modern look of the wire shelves adds a touch of sophistication to any room. Another thing I love about this shelving kit is its affordability. It's a budget-friendly solution for adding extra storage space to any room in my home, whether it's the kitchen, garage, or closet. Plus, the durability of the wire construction ensures that these shelves will last for years to come, making it a great investment for any homeowner. Overall, I couldn't be happier with my purchase. The Wire Shelving Kit has exceeded all of my expectations in terms of quality, versatility, and affordability. If you're in need of extra storage space in your home, look no further โ this shelving kit is the perfect solution!

Does Everything It Says It Does
I have Elfa in every closet but my own. I still prefer Elfa. When you finish installing Elfa, you think "Wow, this looks great! I can do so much!" When I finished with this, I said "OK, this will work..." Elfa would have been three times what I paid for this set (the white fluctuated WAY down when I pulled the trigger). And inflation been inflatinโ... I went with this. This is the no-cut telescoping set. It goes from about 48.5" to 8' In order to telescope, one shelf has to be larger than the other. So, one shelf is 12" deep and the other a little under. If you're using the shelving for something different and need perfectly matching shelves, this isn't the set for you. This set's strength is it's weakness (for me). The double layer of shelving looks weird. Luckily, my installation required no overlapping shelving. My closet is EXACTLY 4' wide. The shelves are overcut by about a half inch. This wasn't a no-cut system for my installation; I had to cut one rung off each shelf. I used a Dremel. The instructions said hang the horizontal Hang Rail at 86.5". I rounded up to 87" because I have suit jackets and cascading pant hangers and wanted to make sure they cleared the shelf and floor. If you're shorter (or don't care about your clothes resting on stuff, you can go lower. My ceilings are kind of high; I can imagine standard 8' ceilings would look weird with the system starting so close to the ceiling. At 87", the pants hanger can hang on either level. Added a pic of that. The height also makes that shelf slightly usable (without the pant hanger, shorter things 4-5" high) The anchors are fine. I've used this style on other projects. You just fold the wings back towards you tamp it in using the anchor pin and insert the screw. They are for new construction. Half inch drywall, no skim coats. I'm working with 100 year old plaster so I went with metal toggle bolts. If you have a newer house, you may be fine. Get some toggle bolts if you think you have thicker drywall, plaster, or or a skim coat. I have a lot of leftover Elfa odds and ins. A couple of them actually work with this set (a literal couple, 2. And one only on the deeper shelf). The systems are not interchangeable. The hierarchy for these track systems is def Elfa>Rubbermaid>Closetmaid. The fit and finish of this system, for someone who's as picky as me, leaves a little to be desired. The shelf brackets are poorly painted. It would be one thing if they were mostly hidden but I'm looking at gray primer or base metal as soon as I open my closet door. The rod holders are plasticky. The end caps are plasticky, and big, and don't match (that telescoping strength being a weakness again) My eye would go to the mismatched end caps every day. Luckily I didn't need to use them either. Over all, I'm happy with the system. If you've never used Elfa, you'll be ecstatic. You get all the functionality of the higher priced system for much less. You can easily double your closet space. Installation was a breeze (minus cutting that one rung off, and that wasn't difficult. I'd use a hacksaw if I didn't have a Dremel) Edit: When its jammed packed with clothes you don't see the poorly painted brackets

2x the space. Like it better than ClosetMaid
There is not a lot of storage space in my house. All the closets had the standard 1 rod for clothes and the rod to low to the ground. I'm small (only 5 feet tall) and my long dresses would hang on the ground. I ordered this Rubbermaid system after reading the reviews, seeing the price, and wanting to see the differences between Rubbermaid and ClosetMaid. I installed a ClosetMaid shelving system a few months back for extra storage in my office. The two companies make extremely similar products. I could probably mix up most of the parts from the two companies and not be able to tell who made what. They are both made out of strong material, look nice once installed and can hold a lot of weight. Installation took about 2 1/2 hours for me to do alone with either brand. It was difficult for me to put the top shelf track up alone because you need to install it around 7feet high up on the wall, level, then fit screws through the track and into the wall. If there are studs in the wall where you want the screws you can drill thought the track but if there are no studs you need wall anchors. With both systems the anchors need to line up exactly with the holes in the track. This was not the easiest thing to do alone so get a friend to hold the track level while you mark the wall for the studs. If you do it alone like I did just double or triple check your makings before you drill and you won't make any mistakes. The track took about 1 hour to put up alone because it is hard to hold something level so high up and make the accurate measurements needed but if you have help it should maybe take 15 minutes. The rest of installation was fast and easy. ****When you do installation, get more anchors for the walls than what is provided with the kit unless you have a lot of studs in your wall. Anchors will help keep the system secure and keep it from falling down. My closet only had 2 studs I could use and the kit had only 9 anchors. Anchors are inexpensive! I got a pack for under $10 and used 6 more for a total of 12 anchors. Each anchor can support 50lbs so I never need to worry about the system falling down. This can be a worry because clothes are very heavy! The fewer studs you have use more anchors. So why do I like the Rubbermaid system over the ClosetMaid? 1) Rubbermaid kit was $65 on amazon, ClosetMaid was over $100 at my local hardware store but they had no kits. They have the same number of shelves, same storage. 2) When making my office closet I knew the width I wanted my shelves so they would fit all the way across the back wall of my closet was 55". At the store ClosetMaid had 4 choices on size 36", 48", 72", and 96". I had 2 choices, I could get the 48" and have a 7" gap or I could get the 72" and cut it down to the size I wanted. I decided to cut the 72". I had the same problem with the shelf track so I once again had to get the longer piece. I tried to have the hardware store cut it, but because the shelf was metal and wide they would not do it. I had to buy a hand saw and cut it at home it took 20-30 to cut everything the sizes I wanted. Rubbermaid has an overlapping designed for both the track and shelves. No cutting was needed and it was the perfect size I wanted. RATINGS: ClosetMaid **** no adjustments on shelve width and the higher price tag but nice system. Doubled my closet!! Rubbermaid ***** adjustable, easy, good looking, no complaints. Doubled my closet!! If you have a closet width of 36", 48", 72", and 96", or something close then ClosetMaid is a good buy but I was not able to find another system that was as nice and inexpensive as Rubbermaid. Believe me I looked!

Very good if you can add additional mounting hardware and wood.
Purchased the 4-8 foot version and put in a 6+ foot closet. Have installed many of these and the Rubbermaid is one of the better budget solutions. When completed, it works well. Having the overlapping railing and shelves makes it work for most closets and I'd recommend to any DIYer. However, the drywall anchors supplied are a joke. I'd never trust such things. (Personally I used zip and spring anchors.) I also use a 2x4 on top and bottom to secure the system off of the drywall, but that's my preference. It allows 100% screws into wood and makes this a very sturdy closet system. FYI - One pic shows 2 rails that are longer or have extensions. That is NOT the system being sent. You only get the rails that make up initial picture for the 4-8 foot version.

Perfect for Oddly Shaped Closet
We wanted to add more efficient storage to a corner closet in a bedroom. The depth on either side of the closet is only 11.5โ and 13.5โ so we needed something without a lot of depth. We purchased two Rubbermaid Closet Kits (the 4-6 ft. and 2-4 ft. kits) and combined most of the pieces to create this configuration. The previous configuration had a clothing rod (not pictured) spanning in front of the corner shelves making them very difficult to get to. The new configuration is completely open and I made sure to connect the shelves in the corners for maximum space. One important feature to note is that there are A shelves and B shelves. The B shelves can overlap the A shelves, then they are locked into place with sliding locks that are built into the top of the brackets. This means NO CUTTING if the shelves donโt match the measurements needed. I used tiny clear zip ties to secure the shelves to each other where they met in the corners, though they werenโt absolutely necessary. The far left side is intended for longer dresses/pants and we may add other accessories like drawers or shoe racks if we find that we can spare the clothing space. These were easy to install, the instructions were very clear, and I completed the job in a short amount of time. They are sturdy and attractive. Weโre very happy we purchased these!

Totally Impressed!
Some notes for those who want to buy this: #1) DO IT! You'll love it. #2) Getting started with the very first piece takes the longest. Then it's a total breeze from there! #3) At the VERY BEGINNING, make sure you are making marks for where you will be screwing into studs, and making different-looking marks where you'll be using a wall anchor - you will only need these marks for the top bar that goes all the way across, and only as high as you want the unit to go (meaning the placement of the top shelf or bar). #4) Directions didn't tell you this (and for some people it's probably obvious), but use a 3/8" bit to drill the holes where you need to use wall anchors, and a 1/8" bit to drill where you'll be able to screw right into the stud. (That's 3 steps for every place you'll be attaching the first bar: mark the wall, make a "starter hole," install the anchor/screw.) I may be an idiot for not knowing that to start, but had someone told me that in the beginning, I could've chopped off a half hour of assembly time! (Now I know for future things as well. :) #5) You will need 4 leftover screws after you install the top bar - these are for the hanging bars, so be sure to set them aside at the beginning, and use the rest to secure the top bar. #6) They give you specific measurements on the distance between the hanging bars: make sure you start at the far left and far right like the directions say (6" from the wall), but you can space the middle 2 bars wherever works for you.... just note that you may have to cut the top bar cover to fit (which is a nice touch to make it look neat). It only took a TOTAL (from unpacking the box to starting to put stuff away) of an hour and a half to finish!!! And that's by myself, a 5'3" female who is totally awkward when it comes to putting stuff together! With the end result of this thing, I LOVE IT. My closet fits so much more and is SO very organized - especially for a SMALL space (my closet is only 5'w x 6'h x 2'deep) - and has to fit everything from clothes and shoes to luggage and books. I was in such desperate need, I even paid for overnight shipping. :( But I will definitely buy another one when I have another closet that needs to be organized! The instructions could be a bit clearer, especially for someone without much (if any) experience hanging stuff. I had to call my dad to have him help me understand the directions. Another small complaint: they aren't entirely specific on how many screws you need where. You have to do the counting as you read through the instructions in advance. So I included that in this to hopefully help the next person out. Whatever small frustration I had with the directions TOTALLY PAYS OFF with the end result. Also, I shopped around for an organizer for a while, and for the price (especially!) and what you get, the value of this is AWESOME. Enjoy your newly nice and neat closet! :)

Strong little sucka
Years ago I built a pole barn and dropped a small apartment in it. For some crazy reason I let my girlfriend move in, so in my kindness I gave her my sacred indoor closet. I bought one of these units and mounted this puppy directly into studs on my plywood garage wall. Putting it together was very simple. I love how you can configure this thing into what seems like an infinite amount of designs. I needed something very strong cuz I knew I was gonna load it up bigtime. I have it setup as a full 6 ft bar w the shelf on top and below the clothes. I have the bar packed w hanging stuff, including some very heavy leather jackets. I have a lot of weight on the top shelf as well. I chose to mount it about 8" lower than the directions since I knew I really just needed the hanging bar. The lower shelf is kinda useless cuz the hanging clothes just about touch it. It's good for smaller items and that's about it. It's been hanging for about 3 wks and its still going strong. Similiar units at Lowes were $30 more. When I build my house it will be very easy to take this off and drop it in a closet. I am very impressed with the finish as well. Very pleased w this unit, worth every penny.

If you're wondering about the anchors or bar height
Soon after we moved in to our new condo, the closet shelves collapsed under the weight of our clothes and shelf items. Due to the old and odd construction here, I've had several issues with the installation of this closet kit. 1. Instructions say the first shelf rack should be placed at 86.5 inches from the floor. My wall only goes up 82 inches. After researching the Rubbermaid site I found Q/A section where this was addressed as "no problem" so I've put the rack down 6" from the ceiling. 2. I used a stud finder but apparently what I thought were studs turned out to be aluminum strips in the wall. Thus, I was left with the drywall option. I couldn't figure out how to get the "butterfly wings" of the anchors into a 3/8 inch predrilled hole. Again, I went to the Rubbermaid site and found the picture I needed at [...] In case the pdf doesn't come up for you, you're suppose to pinch the wings in so the bottom part is tucked up next to the "head" of the anchor. 3. There is a pocket door going into the closet wall on the right hand side of my closet. I discovered that the provided 2" screws are so long they poke into the door. Tomorrow, I'll head to the hardware store to find some shorter screws and I think (based on experience and previous reviews) that I'll pick up some of those heavy duty drywall anchor sets. Hopefully, I can find them in the 1.5" size... As mentioned in other reviews the pieces of the kit are good quality and nice looking. I'm hoping the rest of the installation will go smoother. :) UPDATE: Completed project and happy with result! I would recommend using extra drywall anchors if, like me, you can't find any wooden studs in your walls. I bought a box of 5 - 60lb 1 1/4" anchors and used them all to finish my configuration of a 44" double rod hanging space and a 16" single rod hanging space that made optimum use of my available wall space. I was so happy I bought two more kits and took advantage of the flexibility of the kit to create one long double hanging space and one long single hanging space with 4 shelving units set up along side. This has really maximized our clothing storage space and even given us extra room for sports bags and some linens.

A wonderful product
I had a Rubbermaid closet system twenty years ago and regret not taking it with us when we moved. To be able to purchase a product that is no longer in production is just fantastic and I appreciate the opportunity to again have the product via kits. Thank you Amazon.
