I was very impressed with how solidly constructed this is- though for the cost, it should be! It is made in China, but that's pretty unavoidable these days. I think that the price is fair for the smooth finish, all-in-one welding that makes the piece super sturdy (no way will it tip over or have shelves breaking off) and the large storage space it provides.To advise how I'm utilizing this: One of my hutch shelves was just a sea of papers, extra file folders, printer paper, etc. I'm a full-time college student and I also needed somewhere to put my "active" files (i.e., papers for current classes I'm in). Before I bought this, I kept knocking the files over losing them in my shelf o' crap on the hutch. Now, I've got files for all four of my classes neatly stacked vertically via this organizer. I put spare manila folders and printer paper in the two bottom, horizontal shelves of this organizer. The horizontal shelves are all wide/deep/long enough to hold legal- or letter-sized files, just to let you know. This sits on top of my hutch nicely, very accessible and pleasing to the eye. Well, as much as a metal organizer can please the eye, that is...This comes with little felt pieces (four of them) to put on the bottom of this organizer, so that it stays in place better and doesn't scratch whatever surface you put it on. I'd actually bought some 3M Command sticky stuff to lay it down on my desk with- but the felt pieces work just fine to keep this in place, especially because it's a relatively weighty piece.

Purchased the desk organizer for my daughter's desk in her apartment. She needed an organizer that was heavy enough to hold binders for grad school and would fit on a small desk. This desk organizer was perfect! It is very heavy duty and will not slip and slide around on the desk. The slots hold up to 1 1/2 inch binders perfectly. This organizer is a little "pricey" but like all things...you get what you pay for! This item is worth the extra money. We were very pleased with this item! Arrived in a timely manner and it was well-packaged for shipping. The organizer was in its own box and that box was placed in another shipping box that was well insulated to prevent damage. I was worried that it might arrive bent or damaged after reading previous reviews, but that was not the case. Great item for keeping items organized in a tiny space! I need to order one for my desk at school!

I saw this item in the Gold Box deal section. I looked at it just wondering why it costed almost $40. I was surprised to hear that the top slots were 2" wide. This is a very good-sized unit. I added it to my cart, and also after checking its dimensions, I also picked up from Amazon a Whitmor 6054-585 Supreme Wide Stacking Shelf, Chrome (note: the one measuring 14"x15"x15", not the wide one). The Whitmor shelf fits *perfectly* over the Safco organizer. Between these two products, I have organized my workspace tremendously.As far as the Safco itself, I find the build quality to be above average, definitely exceeding expectations. It's much sturdier than similar fare I've seen in office supply stores. This product was well worth the cost, and turned me on to Safco. I will definitely consider their other products based on the quality of this organizer.

I bought this for my office which doesn't have a lot of desk top room. It is perfect. Plenty of sorting on top and 2 bins on the bottom. The only reason this wasn't given 5 stars is when I received it it is slightly bent and I can't seem to unbend it. Which is good and bad. Bad because it's bent and good because it isn't bendy and it is quite substantial. I love the look and functionality.

My desk may not be cleaner, but it certainly is neater thanks to the mix of vertical (file folders) and horizontal (the two shelves below) organizing space of the Safco desk top organizer. I loved that it came ready for use right out of the box – no assembly required. I put it to use immediately, and it’s been an organizational game changer for me. The sides and first shelf are a sturdy black mesh construction giving the large unit a lighter look. And while the base is solid - as is the bottom under the six vertical mesh dividers - the entire piece is not heavy. The space between the dividers is a whopping 2” – I have almost 25 folders crammed into those six slots for quick daily retrieval and use. Of note, I bought this after reading an Amazon review about it on another product I was looking to buy which did require assembly. That reviewer saved me. Hope my review is as worthwhile to you, too. A great product, and a great buy.

I love this thing. It's great for my home office.I use the 6 vertical sections to hold my current books I need for classes, binders, and folders. The bottom section is good for miscellaneous goodies, like papers to be sorted. It turned my easily disorganized pile of school and work stuff into a little station where it's easy to access anything.Now, I have an issue with how this thing is shipped. It seems the box this item comes in is packed by the manufacturer. The box only contains this unit with a plastic bag around it. There is nothing that is placed in between the dividers to keep them from bending or to resist any outside force. Amazon also does not package this box inside another box, which further exacerbates the problem. The first time I received this unit, it was so bent it did not sit flat! The unit I received in an exchange fared better, but it seems just by luck. It was packaged exactly the same, but the unit sat flat. However, the outer two dividers were slightly bent, but I deal with that.My suggestion: order this thing with something else. You might get the unit shipped in a bigger box with your other item, and it may prevent shipping damage.(No stars deducted for shipment issues, but thought it was good to know.)

Very sturdy. I use it primarily to hold textbooks and it doesn't seem to have any problem with the weight. I love the upright storage method. I used to have horizontal stacking organizers, and this method is much easier to use and makes it much easier to see and get what you have. Mine arrived bent, badly enough I was worried it was ruined and I'd have to send it back, but the bent arm/side bend back into place easily and not it works fine and looks like it was never bent at all. Looks nice, its very efficient, and I'm very glad I bought it.

This desk organizer is just perfect and extremely handy, you can actually see my desk now and not a paper jungle!I kept on putting it off for a long time but one day I was just like this is ridiculous anymore I need to do something, so I started my researched and after a lot of reading (I love reviews and that is why I write so many myself) and narrowing it down to 3 candidates I picked this one because it seemed to cover almost everything I wanted.I received this very quickly since I have Amazon Prime (definitely consider joining if you don't already have it!!!!!) and I was even happier with my choice than I thought I would be.No more clutter, no more where is this or that, no more folders, no more stacks, no more notes left and right...No more Mess!I like how it has 6 slots and I can organize anyway I like day, month, year, bill, paperwork, etc. and the 2 shelves I use for things I always try and reach for so they are definitely practical.I would have liked to see this with one drawer at least as well for small things to just throw in but honestly that's not a big issue after all is said and done.I would definitely buy this again and recommend it.

I'm using this for work and its very helpful organizing my desk. Now i just need something to organize my pens and notebook...
