Westinghouse 0101100 Recessed Light Converter - 2 Pack

We tried two other methods to convert a can light into a flush mount and this is the ticket. We tried another one that claims work for multiple sizes but it didn't work for any size. We also looked at creating our own conversion but this does everything we needed and it does it very well. We not have Jelly Fish pendant lights over the tub and a nice Tiffany light in the entry way where there were just cans before. Really happy with the design and install. Super easy. It only took about 15-20 minutes on the first and 5-10 on the second conversion.

Having recessed lights, this was purchased to install a light fixture that was lower to the ground than the recessed light. The first was easy to install after watching a great YouTube video describing the whole process. The canister was flush with the ceiling making the video an exact match with light #1. The second light was a big challenge given the light's location along with drywall that the canister was on top of. In order to install the converted, I had to dig out the drywall with a utility knife. After that, everything worked fine albeit a bit of tweaking. Glad the 1st one helped me understand the process. The converter is well made a very sturdy, thus I feel comfortable that it can hold a light fixture with a bit of weight. Overall, I'd purchase this again. On last thing, the description doesn't properly tell you that the converted expands more that written up. My installation was 6.5 inches wide and there was additional room had the need been there.

These did the trick and were not hard to install, once I figured out the "self-tapping" screws don't self-tap. I had to run out to buy a metal drill bit. With that, they went up really easily. I would recommend watching one of many you-tube videos and secondly, make sure you align the center hole well, so the attachment bolts are centered properly..

This was a great alternative to cutting open a high ceiling, removing two recessed lights, adding to new light bars, patching the drywall and painting all before you can begin light fixture installation! The converter kits are a little tricky to get right, the first one took me about an hour , second one about 15 minutes.Then installing the new pendants was a snap. Warning: Don't use the "self piercing " screws they include, I used self tapping sheet metal screws (you will be drilling on a slight angle) and they made an easy job of it. Would use this product again!

One of the most successful purchases I've made in 2020. This converter et worked perfectly and now I have two light fixtures (9,000 lumens) for my 300 sqft living room, an absolute upgrade from 2 recessed lights (1700 lumens). The installation was very easy. Depending on the framing of your ceiling, you might not be able to anker the converter bracket into any wooden structure. However, as long as they are secured into the metal housing of the recessed light, I found it is secure enough for a moderate light fixture. The converter is very well made. I'd recommend it to everyone who want to convert their recessed light to something better and brighter.

The first one took me a while to install because I didn’t realize I needed to make sure there was no texture hanging down on the edge of the can opening. So after I took it all back apart and then reinstalled 😂. The bezel sits right against the ceiling so there’s no shadow on the edge and this should easily support a 35 pound crystal chandelier.

So thankful for this kit! Had no idea how we were going to hang these chandeliers until we found these kits! So easy to install! Beautiful and great value for your money! No screws or extra pieces needed. Everything you need is in the box!

As noted by other reviewers, these are a headache to install. Needing to drill a pilot hole into sheet metal at an angle is never fun (probably easier if you happen to have a right angle drill adapter). But they are totally worth it. There is actually one neat undocumented feature, which is that you can set your fixtures slightly off-center from the original can. Just an inch or so, in the case of 5" cans like I have, but it helps to balance the separation between the new lights you install. Basically you install the bracket as normal, but then you can tighten down the inner sliding thing at an offset. (I haven't put the white plastic medallions on -- planning to paint them black -- but the look is pretty damn good already.)
