Blum 170° Clip Top Screw on Hinge - Full Overlay

I learned that Blum hinge systems have two basic parts: the hinge and a mounting plate. The two parts clip together without tools; they unclip by pressing a lever at the back of the hinge. This Amazon product includes only the 170 degree hinge. The mounting plate is sold separately because its thickness and method of attachment depend on your cabinet geometry. The Blum "catalogue and technical manual" is available online from blum.com. It will help you pick a mounting plate that you would order separately. My project was to replace three existing standard 110 degree clip top hinges with this 170 degree hinge. My cabinet has a face frame, but the doors are inset (zero overlay). Blum calls this a blind corner application. With a blind corner, my original mounting plate had two pieces: a "horizontal cam mounting plate" attached (with short screws) to a blind corner bracket. Unfortunately, the width of my face frame was not something the Blum manual anticipated. I separately ordered their recommended 9 mm mount, but it wasn't going to work with my cabinet's geometry. This 170 wide-angle hinge requires a thicker mount than the 110 standard hinge. I reused my existing mounts after making them thicker by adding some spacers. I put the improvised spacers between the horizontal cam mounting plate and the blind corner bracket. The spacers I used were just some galvanized nuts I found in my garage. I estimated the thickness I would need by using Blum's tables of door gap, overlay, and boss dimension for the wide angle hinge, inset application. This step was very complicated, and it was useful to have calipers for some measurements. Maybe trial-and-error with various spacer thicknesses would have been faster. In the end, for my application, the spacer nuts were 8.1 mm thick. To use the spacers, I had to replace the short screws with longer screws that I found in my garage. In the picture, a check mark shows the 170 degree hinge that came with the Amazon order. The X marks the horizontal mounting plate, spacers, and blind corner bracket that did not come with the order. Ultimately this installation worked and i am 100% satisfied. It improved the access to an awkwardly-located cabinet. The 170 degree hinge easily clips into the retrofitted bracket. It took many hours to figure out this puzzle with its tiny important dimensions. But now, if I were to replace the hinges of the other cabinet door, it would take about ten minutes.

Corner cabinet (lazy susan) broken top inside hinge. Small metal piece broken had to order new hinge. Contacted Blum by phone and someone in the warranty dept helped tremendously. The bracket I had was Blum the hinge was another manufacturer (thanks to the cabinet installers!) Emailed me what to measure and after I gave her the info she told me the parts. This one arrived closed - I had not idea how to open - Rok YouTube saved the day. I somewhat easily replaced the hinge and bracket and am thrilled. Not extremely handy and my husband, after 3 strokes, no longer the amazing handyman around the house he once was. Very proud of myself! Thanks to Jason's review, Rok and Blum!

good quality, quick fix

Got two of these along with a pair of 175H6000 mounting plates from Softclose through Amazon to replace the broken Blum hinges on my 25 year old white laminate lazy susan base cabinet. They arrived only two days after ordering (we're both in CA). The hinges screwed right into the door using the original holes. Used square to draw horizontal line from edge of cabinet through middle of old holes of the original mounting plates. Measured 1/2" from edge (as instructed) along the horizontal line and drilled tiny pilot holes. Screwed in the mounts and the new hinges clipped right on. Have never done this before. Am incredibly pleased with the result.

Works very well if you are familiar with cabinetry and making fine adjustments.

How do you expect to put a product on with no hardware I didn't even get the piece that connects to the opposite side of a cupboard I have a hinge and no hardware That's garbage if I wouldn't do that I wouldn't about that I have a 1/2 of unit I'm able to use I can connect the one arm onto the door but I can't connect it on to the opposite side of the cupboard because there's no hardware for the hinge nor is there the bracket to put on that side

Needed to replace the hinge and mounting bracket on a lazy Susan cabinet I own since the previous hinges' bracket cracked, causing the door to fall off. Old hinge was manufactured by FGV, which no one seems to stock. Tried the big box stores, but neither carried any of the 170 degree hinges, but could special order for $$$. Found this hinge and its mounting bracket on Amazon for a good price. Installation was a piece of cake. Hopefully this will last longer than the other manufacturers product (~5 years).

Nicer hinge than the older Blum style it’s replacing. Seems to have higher quality body and functions well.
