ASTRO Gaming A50 Wireless Headset + Base Station Gen 4 - Compatible With PS5, PS4, PC, Mac - Black/Silver

First impressions: -Nice packaging, everything is brand spanking new with really nice plastic peels. Awesome new smell too. -Connecting the headset to my PC with the included optical and USB A to Micro USB cables work instantly, all I needed to do was switch computer output to optical out for my sound card. -Did some preliminary testing with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare + Warzone. Sound profile is differently from my recent Sennheisers, will have to play around with EQ and Dolby Sound settings. Sound's fine, just a really wide soundstage compared to the Sennheisers with Dolby Sound on, which I'll be getting used to. -Its taking a long while to charge the headset by today's standards, where you can almost fully charge a smartphone in less than 45-minutes. ~25% in an hour is not bad for something that will sit on the charging base for like 16-18 hours out of each day, though. -Almost the same as my old Gen 1 Astro A50s, with some really nice improvements. I like the comfort and the removable foam on the ear cups and head band for easy cleaning/replacing. Also nice to have a button to switch EQ profiles on the fly. And I now have again my favorite feature from my old headset, the rocking right ear cup plate to balance game and chat audio I've had many headsets over the years, always tried to get something nice and comfortable for long sessions, and tried to go for the best quality+comfort+features balance I could find for my PC+PS4 desk setup. I've had these headsets over many years, and in this order: a Logitech G700, Corsair Vengeance 2000, a refurbished gen 1 Astro A50, cheap Logitech G33 when my Astro was stolen during travel, Steelseries Arctis 5, Sennheiser Game One, Sennheiser GSP500. Out of all these, the Astro A50s and both Sennheisers are easily above the rest, these three are high quality headsets with satisfying sound. Steelseries Arctis 5 is easily the most comfortable of the bunch, and had lots of really nice features, but a faulty proprietary connector and the bad customer service experience that followed turned me off their brand forever, even if Amazon made things right in the end when they didn't have to(Thanks Amazon!). I loved my old Astro A50s, and these feel like coming back home, with some really nice improvements. I like the removable foam on the ear cups and head band for easy cleaning/replacing. Also nice to have a button to switch EQ profiles on the fly. The charging base is also really nice to have, and the expected 15-hour battery life should make life much easier compared to the 3 hours I used to get on my old refurbished ones. I now have again my favorite feature from my old headset, the rocking right ear cup button to balance game and chat audio I'm really looking forward to enjoying my Astro A50s with my PC + PS4, and hopefully PS5 when it comes out. I'll be updating my review to reflect my user experience as time goes by, Especially if any issues pop up.

This is a well made headset. Audio quality for video games is amazing! You can hear all the shots, and background audio very clearly. Pros: - Great game audio - comfortable for long gaming sessions - long battery life and leaving it on the basestation after gaming pretty much makes it last forever unless your gaming more then 7-8 hours in one go. - works with ps5 with some minor tweeting) - pc has great audio mixing options that can be loaded on to the basestation - replacement ear cups and head cushions make it a headset that should last you a while Cons: - terrible for movie watching there is a lack of strong bass - a bit on the large and heavy side for headsets - no custom rgb lighting ( for those looking for that sort of thing - heavy price tag ( but worth it ) Details: There is a lack of bass in the audio but its not a headset built for music but for more so experiencing game world audio. Along with that if you wish for true dolby audio you need to plug in the optical cable which ps5 is missing but you can jerry rig it through your tv if your tv has the option. Overall its a great headset that i plan on using for a good while! Astro has always done good by me, my last wired headset lasted me 6 years before the ear cups pretty much crumbled away ( older model was missing the customization option for that )

These things used to be the headset back in the day but as time goes on quality goes down with astro. Between there tech support of trying to get things sorted out to fixed is damn near impossible. If you want any type of help emailing support takes weeks to a month if you go to reddit you might get lucky within a couple hours of a response but they won't help you do anything other then reset firmware and try to update your headset. Quality of sounds is good confortability is low the headband up top pops out every time you adjust your headset which is very annoying don't understand why making a separate peice that doesn't snap in well was put there instead of a normal top band that wraps all the way with padding. Next the constant screw ups of updating or connecting to pc. If your lucky you can download your firmware from the pc you play on but if it fails to load its because there is a background app that I stopping your command center from completing tasks so you either have to find what app is stopping it or you go to a different pc or laptop to download the update from there then if that doesn't work you have to manually update your files by deleting and downloading and inserting them to the right area and if you don't do that correctly. We'll you just bricked your headset and now have to go through a process to make them work again. Also the battery on these headphones don't last more then 6 months before it doesn't take a charge or it starts telling you the wrong percentage of battery. Please do research on Astros and on how bad they have become before paying 200 plus for a headset that will not perform to your liking this is also a warning be prepared if you buy this headset you will be annoyed kicking and screaming while pulling your hair out because they simply don't work when you want them to.

The first A50's I ordered were advertised as "refurbished" and I quickly found out that was not a good idea. They were listed for half the cost of a brand new pair, so I thought why not. I assumed someone else ordered a new headset because their old headset station stopped working, so they swapped their broken station for the new one and then returned the item & basically replaced the headset station for free, because the charging station never powered on. Needless to say, I returned the refurbished headset and bit the bullet and paid for a brand new pair. I know alot of folks might be apprehensive about spending $300 on a gaming headset, but after years of blowing through cheap headset after cheap headset I decided it's time to invest in the best headset money could buy after reading reviews on the A50'S. I've now owned & used them for about two months and held off on leaving a review until I spent enough time using them for a honest and fair review of the product. I can honestly say the sound is superior to any other headset I've ever used. They sound great for gaming but what came as a bonus is when I discovered they were even more amazing for listening to music. I like to crank the volume up and listen to my favorite music often and found out these work better than my actual studio headphones that I used to wear for causal listening. The headset comes with a software app where you can EQ and adjust the volume, bass etc settings to your liking. These suckers are loud and that's the way I like em! Nice high, med and low range. I really can't complain about a single thing, other than after a couple of hours they can become slightly uncomfortable, but that may be a ME problem and not a product issue, as I typically have issues with migraines and having anything pressed against my head for extended periods of time. Oh, and when placing the headset back onto the charging station, sometimes it acts a little picky about how I place them onto the station if the headphone contacts aren't touching exactly where they need to be on the charger; it takes a little wiggling around to get it to make contact & charge. Battery life seems decent. I have no idea what the advertised battery life is but you'll probably get about 4-5 hours easily with a full battery. Additionally, the material they are made with feels strong & durable, but also lightweight at the same time - almost like a carbon fiber material. Case and point - this is more than likely the last headset I'll ever need to buy (knock-on wood) unless something horribly goes wrong and they stop working or get destroyed. Highly recommend if you have the extra cash to invest in a A+ product and are looking for the best possible gaming headset out there.

For 300$ you'd hope the headset you'd be getting would be perfect, but it's not. The microphone quality is good, but leaves a bit to be desired. I'm surprised it doesn't come with some sort of foam cover to block out hard syllables, breathing, etc. But that can be purchased from a third party which I think I might try out. The sound quality for things like music and media is very nice, sounds crispy clear with good bass. In games I've noticed, especially with the surround sound on, that it is a bit lacking. For instance something happening right in front of my face or right behind me will sound like it's further away. I'm not sure if that's the headset and I am still trying to diagnose that, but I don't feel like that ever really happened with my old Corsair Void headset which also had a surround sound option. The comfort so far is pretty good. I can tell it will be incredibly comfortable once it is fully broken in. At first it was constrictive and hurt my head/ears after awhile (especially my left ear and not the right for some reason) but if you use the box trick where you leave it propped over the 5.5" box overnight it helps break it in faster. All this is mainly because I have a large head and even at its biggest setting it was still a bit to small for my head at first. But I know I don't have the biggest head in the world so longer rods to allow for more adjustment for bigger heads would be nice, but isn't there. Other than that I love it. The dock is nice, it also allows you to plug it directly in via a USB if you would like to use it while it charges. The design (except for the size which I wish went bigger, as stated) is very well done. It has smart little features like if you place it down on your desk horizontally it will immediately turn off to save battery, and turn right back on once picked up again. I'm not disappointed I spent 300$ on this headset, and overall it is very good. I just wish it was a bit more perfected considering how much it costs. If you have an averaged sized head, you're probably going to love it. If you have a big head like me, give it a chance! Break it in using the box trick for a few nights and you will notice a difference.

ich benutze es seid einem Jahr und jetzt kann ich auf einmal kein update machen aber sonst bin ich recht zufrieden. :)

After 1year they broke down. Constant firmware update issues. And Also now randomly starts to switch between Equalizer settings randomly on its own. They are great till they work. But I would say for this price they are not worth it. After 17months of use, they are now faulty. Would never suggest to buy them.

Out the box plug into pc, if you are on windows or mac no problem download the app and update the firmware, usb from ps5 will then give power in rest mode to the charge dock and you can run the optical from your tv to the dock to get Dolby atmos. Sounds great and this headset is the most comfortable I have used. Dont hesitate when it goes on sale get them you wont regret it

Headset itself is good. Super-comfortable, great sound both ways, battery life, connectivity, a base to put in on. After 14 months of light use, just out of warranty, it gave out. Support gave me a checklist of things to try and report about, but there was no fixing it. Well despite being out of warranty they just sent me a new headset within the week without me asking. (No base, cables, manuals, fancy packaging — just a bubble-wrapped seemingly-new headset in a small box.) When you drop this kind of money on a headset, longevity is a must, and here it was.
