YOU NEED THIS
This sander is a quality tool. Yes the price is high, but how many other sanders will you have to buy and replace before this one goes out. It does not rip paint off an old boat fast, but if you want to do that use a grinder or a belt sander. The tool works very well. The speed of the sander stays the same off the wood or on, Other sanders have a noticeable slowdown when you put them on the wood. Smooooooth very little vibration. I work on tables and cabinets and for my projects it is perfect.Last year I bought a name brand sander and it lasted 1 year, ONE YEAR, yes it had a three year warranty, but it coust me more time and gas to get it fixed that it was worth. I would rather pay more for a quality product and have it last

The dust collection is pretty awesome. I have a fancy -pants extractor
Expensive but worth it. It is much quieter and vibrates a lot less than my cheap random orbit sanders. The dust collection is pretty awesome. I have a fancy -pants extractor, but I also use it hooked up to my Rigid shop vac and it works great there too. It doesn't put my hands to sleep, which is also a plus. If you are in a position to shell out the money for a sander like this, you will be glad you did. I have a couple of years of hobby use on mine, building kitchen cabinets, furniture and sanding walls before painting, and have been very happy with it.

High Quality...No Dust
Connected to my Fein vacuum and with the Festool sanding pads (actually from Klingspor Woodworking Shop [...] this sander captures 100% of the dust. I replaced my Porter Cable belt sander which I had for 15 years because Porter Cable unbelievably discontinued making replacement brushes. While a bit costly, I wish Festool had more products that I need for my woodworking shop. I already have the Festool Domino which is an awesome product from Germany.

Superior Machine!
I purchased this ROS after reading several reviews on a woodworking forum. Yes, it's expensive, but after using it, I can say it's worth every penny I spent. I own a Festool dust collector, and coupled with the ETS 150, dust is almost non-existent. Even after sanding for several hours, the 50 grit Festool pad I was using was practically as clean as new. I purchased the ETS 150/5, which has a 5mm orbit vs. the 3mm orbit on the 150/3 because I wanted a more aggressive sander. One amazing thing to me was that even after using the 50 grit paper, the surface was about as smooth as I normally see with 120 grit. I did go out and order a lot of paper of various grits. Festool sanding sheets are somewhat expensive, but after seeing how clean the paper stays when using dust collection, I think it's a good investment. I cannot be happier with this sander.

Best tool!
I have several Festool sanders and each one does what its designed to do with ease. So much better than the hand/arm rattlers I used to buy at the home center.

Impressed!
I already own several Festool sanders including the ETS 150/3, which I use a lot. But I needed something more aggressive. After the first use I found the 150/5 did the job perfectly. I use all the sanders in conjunction with the Festool CT26 dust collector. Dust collection is close to 100% and my lungs and eyes love me for it. :)

Sample Pack of Abrasives Consist of Only One Disk
Great product and an example of why Festool is a terrific investment. My only complaint is that the Abrasive Sample pack consisted of exactly one disk. I diligently searched the package thinking surely I must be missing something, but no, just one disk. So a word of advice, if you are a woodworker you'll undoubtedly make a mistake in ordering extra disks (I wasn't able to use my tool until I ordered a selection of disks) and Amazon's selection is a bit thin. Without samples I took a stab and ordered 100 disks from Amazon that had way too low a grit density. I did some research (Mark with the WoodWhisperer did a great review of this tool and covered the disks in detail) and ended up ordering from Jamestown Distributors. I was able to order a variety of grit densities in 10 packs that met my hobby needs much more effectively, and they offered free shipping as well. So Amazon, my usual compliments for convenient shopping and super logistics, just wish I had that sample pack to help me out. Four stars for a five star product.
