Tells you why it's not due to human-generated rising CO2 levels
It's hard to know who to believe in the climate debate, but it helps to hear some facts. Dr Sangster's book clarifies many false notions about this controversial topic in a straightforward and honest manner. He separates the ideology from the science, always reflecting on the limitations of current understanding of the topic. The complexities of our weather are presented in clear contrast to the simplistic and erroneous assertion that changes in weather systems are due to rising carbon dioxide levels which are secondary to human economic activity. Dr Sangster explores our current understanding of the interaction of the Sun, tectonics, wind and ocean circulation, clouds and aerosols, greenhouse gases, and Earth systems on climate to convey a sense that we are only at the beginning of our appreciation of the complexities. He dismisses the idea that climate change is exclusively due to rising CO2 levels and, tellingly, discusses the concerted attempts to promote this ideology by Western governments at the expense of the Developing World. While published in 2018, events have moved on in the Climate debate. This book would benefit from a second edition where the full references are given with, perhaps, a more discursive style and more focused chapter structure. Dr Sangster's "The Real Inconvenient Truth" is an excellent introduction to the science, politics and economics of the climate debate.

I cannot recommend this highly enough
Michael has nailed the scientific doubt that undermines the religiosity surrounding this whole topic. It is a sad testimony to the underlying willingness of people to wed (weld?) themselves to their craving for binary absolute certainty, whilst blindly following their "negativity instinct" (see Hans Rosling's Factfullness).Science is NOT about certainty, in fact does not offer certainty and in the case of most of the bigoted assertions of history (5,000 years and counting) the ideologues who assert without evidence (religious and secular) are all motivated the same way and follow the same pattern, whipping up fervour and hysteria. So Michael has brilliantly picked this nonsense apart drawing to the most balanced, reasonable Q&A conclusion about this whole farrago that I have ever seen over the last thirty years of reading and studying about this. All using ad rem based upon the scientific methodology. (The only methodology and thought process that abjures faith and uses evidence). So "observe", "contemplate and analyse", "hypothesise", "test with experiment as a sceptic" to disprove the hypothesis. That IS the scientific methodology, skepticism is integral to science, not an optional add on to be rejected as bigotry demands. And the science is NEVER settled. EVER.If you cannot disprove or cast reasonable doubt then the hypothesis stands for the time being, and even more if further evidence (central or collateral) supports it.It fails if evidence disproves it, undermines it so as to cast substantial doubt or it cannot be tested. (Hitchen's Razor "What can be asserted without evidence can also be dismissed without evidence.")AGW is a set of narrow observations converted to an assertion for deeply emotional reasons (I do not doubt the sincerity of those who assert their faith). But it is now hi-jacked by politics and Michael's book brilliantly brings us back to reality.

This is a brilliant book
It starts off being neutral...good.Then all the uncertainties stack upFor me the killer line was right at the end, that what the alarmists want us to wreck our economies (plus kill many more people than Hitler managed to do) was right at the end - 6 parts per million of CO2.To put this into proportion its proposing drastic action because you've measured the distance from London to Edinburgh and you are out by 4 yards. That's trivial compared to the other uncertainties - all of which are quantifiable and minor on a railway track, whereas for the climate the uncertainties are huge and unquantifiable & yet they still claim 95% confidence.I have read very few books twice in my life; this one I re-read immediately I got to the end.

Possibly the most essential book on climate change
Essential? Yes, because it's the quickest way of increasing your awareness of the dangers posed by global warming zealots. And the sooner you find out about that the better. This is a fair, balanced, scientifically supported, well argued and clear summary of the many issues involved. It explains not just the science of this enormously complex issue, but the politics and ideology of the global elite who have taken over the debate and shut down dissenting opinion. This is dangerous stuff and we need to appreciate what is at stake. We are like China under the Cultural Revolution. Their crops were failing, so they blamed the birds. They killed hundreds of millions of birds, then their crops failed completely. It was insect pests causing the crop failures. We are now in danger, by demonising CO2 levels, of making our situation infinitely worse. Driving western economies into the ground to reduce carbon emissions, while countries like China and India carry on regardless! And even with these countries on board, Sangster explains why it wouldn't make any difference anyway because global warming and CO2 levels are not the problem zealots would have us believe. Read this book and give it to everyone you know. We have to start the fight back now.

Thousands of years ago the concensus thought the world was flat, now they blame CO2 ,wrong again.
Curiously the people with the most alarmist views on global warming & rising sea levels are the peoplewho oppose the obvious solutions.Forecasting these extremist false views is costing us trillions that could be spent on vital services. When will they wake up ? ,we live on the planet but we do not control it.
