Tommy Tape Self-fusing Silicone Mast Boot Wrap 4 in x 10 ft

Second purchase. This tape really self fuses fast so you have to be careful to stretch and snug it up around your mast, or whatever you're sealing, before overlapping tape to itself or you'll be cussing at yourself trying to get it back apart. The toughest part is the first wrap. Subsequent wraps are much easier. If you can wrap it without any wrinkles, you'll have a tight seal. My mast has a lot of brackets at the base so it's hard to wrap without wrinkles.Because of the fusing nature, only expect one use. As far as longevity, it lasts all season here in Michigan where we take the boats out of the water at the end of each season. Also, it sticks to itself but does not adhere to your mast like adhesive tape so when it comes off, it comes off clean.

I have a friend who used this with great success on his mast. Our marina requires sailboats to remove the mast for winter storage, so this is a cheap was to replace mast boot every year. It was a complete failure for me though, because I have hardware very close to the mast and you need to be able to pull this tightly around the mast. I didn't have room to do that. I give it 5 stars because it is a great solution if you have room to install it properly. Also, you need a second person to hold the end when installing. I cannot speak to its longevity as my friend removes his every year,

I have used similar rigging tape in the past, but narrower. I have only had it on the mast for a couple of weeks, so we'll see how it holds up over the long haul. This sticks to itself best when stretched, and typical of this type of tape, the end is coming up because it is difficult to stretch that part (because you are holding it to stretch the rest). Before applying the tape, I installed a silicone mast wedge and caulked around it. With this tape, everything is water tight (and we have gotten a lot of rain over the last couple of weeks).

We purchased this tape for a boot for for sailboat mast. It went on easily and looks great.

It is terribly difficult to work with solo. Will not but again. EVER!

Used it to seal around my keel stepped mast on my Morgan 364. Worked spectacularly, no more leaks!

This tape is nice, easy to apply and has a clean look around the bottom of my mast.

This product is not suitable in my opinion for making a proper mast boot. It only sticks to itself and not the mast. It sticks to itself so fast it's nearly impossible to wrap it properly. I tried so hard to keep it from sticking to itself while trying to wrap the mast but it was impossible. Once it stick to itself you cannot get apart without altering the shape. I ended up with nothing but a big ball of this sill tape stuck to itself. Wast of money and my time.

Does a great job but be careful. It sticks to itself once applied and is almost impossible to separate. Have a plan. Stick to the plan.

Used on my mast boot to prevent water getting into cabin.
