Alba Botanica Un-Petroleum Multi-Purpose Jelly, 3.5 Oz

I've been using this since my adult child was an infant. It works well, has a neutral odor, and is nice and thick.

I love love love this petroleum jelly alternative. It’s basically exactly the same, protects the same, has the same thickness and feelings, but isn’t made of literal petroleum. The tube could be better because once there’s only a small amount left you really gotta squeeze it. Other than that, it’s amazing. I keep on buying it for a reason. It lasts a long time (depending on what you use it for) and so I think the price is worth it.

I first bought this for a non-petroleum based balm or salve for my baby's bum. It worked as a dream. It has the consistency of petroleum jelly but the ingredients are so simple and effective. I have added essential oils as needed to it as needed. It makes a great base for topical application for EOs. It makes a good alternative to lip balm and even an additive to make up. As a cancer fighter I used it on my chest after surgery and radiation to soothe my mastectomy scars. It is so versatile it can be used for a base for massage also. It instantly soothes dry or injured skin. It holds moisture perfectly. If it seems a bit pricey it is worth it. I always keep it on hand. Pun intended...

I know I'm not the first person to have purchased this based on the makeup guru Kandee Johnson's recommendation. She said she uses it every night to seal moisture into her skin--and her skin is FLAWLESS. I used it in imitation of her, putting it ontop of my toner and moisturizer, at night. I will say that it definitely yields the desired effect-- healthy, moist, and smooth skin. It does not clog your pores or give acne-- AT ALL! I honestly love the way my skin feels in the morning after using it. All in all, I think this is a wonderful product, and I prefer it over vaseline. (The fact that it is un-petroleum is probably why it is so much better!) My two criticisms: These will probably be irrelevant if you aren't using this as a nightly face moisturizer, but since that's why I purchased it, I wanted to share it's two negative traits as a face care product. First, the smell. It's definitely NOT a bad smell, but it has a vaseline/petroleum smell that is just not as pleasant as most moisturizers. Secondly, it is extremely thick (as expected) and sticky, so it's not particularly pleasant to wear on the skin. The good news is, in the morning, your skin feels incredible and not at all sticky. But the bad news is, your hair might stick to your face during the night, and it could get on your pillowcase. Its just thick and cumbersome compared to regular moisturizers. Overall, I would recommend this product! I am happy with it, and glad that I purchased it. While it may not be my go-to moisturizer, I am very glad to have it in my arsenal of beauty products.

I am a former Vaseline addict, and over the past year or two I have been slowly switching all of my products towards more natural products. Once I finished up yet another giant tub of vaseline, I knew it was probably time for me to get away from petroleum as well, so I decided to try this and see if it could compare with my beloved vaseline. I like that this product has no petrolatum, artificial colors/fragrances, parabens or phthalates and that they don't test on animals. The first 3 ingredients are castor seed oil, coconut oil and beeswax. So the ingredients are awesome! It also works (for me, anyways) pretty much just like vaseline does. I get extremely dry hands in the winter time, and what I typically use this product for is to apply a light layer to my hands, lips, and the corners of my eyes (which get really dry also) right before bed to trap in the moisture from my other lotions/creams/balms, and it works great! It honestly looks and feels just like vaseline! I only have two complaints about this. First is the scent. It is not something I ever notice really unless I actually put the product up to my nose and smell it up close, but it has kind of an unappealing scent. I can't put my finger on it, but it almost smells fake? Kind of plastic-y? Which is funny because this is an all natural product. But it really doesn't bother me that much. The other thing is the tube it comes in. Just imagine pushing vaseline through a tube like this. It isn't exactly easy. And I am sure it will only get harder after more and more of the product gets used up. It is nice how you can be sure you use every little bit of vaseline up in it's container, but this I'm sure would impossible to do that (unless you are cutting open the tube, at which point it becomes a bit unsanitary.) Overall though I really like this product. Like I said it performs JUST like vaseline does for me, so I love that! I am willing to pay a bit more and deal with the inconvenient tube though because I like the more natural ingredients. I was kind of expecting the worst with this product (skin reactions, etc.) and have been so pleasantly surprised to only have a positive experience, and I am really impressed! I highly recommend it!

I bought my first tube of this at Whole Foods several years ago & was so happy to have found it . I rarely get out these days & can't make it to WF, so I got the brilliant idea of looking for it on Amazon. And of course there it was. The tube design has changed (does not look like the image online), but I think it's the same recipe. I have sleep apnea & thin skin, so I have frequent nose bleeds from the dry air in the CPAP machine. When I use this product in my nostrils, it makes me less apt to bleed because it softens the skin. If you use it for this, make sure the clean it out of your nose completely before you put on your CPAP, or you could contaminate the machine. This is a very nice, gentle product.

Long post: Finally I found this amazing product. It keeps my skin from drying out when the heater is running. I do not slug. At night, after cleaning my face with water or the smallest amount of face soap possible (if needed), I gently rub the just enough of this product to cover my skin without leaving too much residue and shine. I wait 20min and pat my skin with a towel to gently remove excess. In the morning, I use a small amount ceramide cream under my spf. My skin cannot tolerate all the serums that are popular now, so I focus on keep my skin barrier healthy. Usually My skin gets super dry in the winter. Even with a humidifier, my skin gets raw and flaky. This amazing product has kept my skin smooth and hydrated. :) so far so good. :)

It’s perfect! I don’t usually write reviews, but this was a life saver that I need to share. My son has eczema and often gets diaper rashes. I found many of the zinc oxide options, including the burts bees, very drying to his skin causing further irritation. Alba’s un-petroleum jelly is amazing! Protects my son from rashes, keeps his skin moisturized, and keeps a barrier from his poops to his skin (he’s a toddler and poops 3x a day!). It’s so easy to wipe off and apply again unlike zinc oxide. I love it! Thank you so for making such a wonderful product!

Bought this as I wanted to replace the Vaseline which is so useful for all kinds of things, with a natural, cruelty- free product. I haven’t found it as effective for my dry hands, especially the fingertips/cuticles, but I need to try it with cotton gloves and see how that works. I usually rub the excess on knees and elbows and that’s nice. Based on one review here, I used it to remove my eye make up and can honestly say it was the first time in countless years I haven’t woken up with sore eyes and spent the next day in discomfort. I honestly thought I might be allergic to make up, but suspected it would be okay with the right remover, so kept trying different ones. Can’t believe it, my eyes feel relaxed and comfortable all day. It also works brilliantly to clean the whole face at night (I press on a hot cloth a few times), and you don’t need a moisturiser after because it’s so thick. It even removes my new mascara which my old remover failed to do. Some people will dislike the thickness and the fact that it leaves a residue, but it really feels nourishing and protective, and I might actually develop a nightly skincare routine in the knowledge that nothing will irritate or itch! Now looking at the rest of the range as this is so good.
