This actuator was a perfect replacement fit for my 2013 Toyota Camry. Installation only took around 20 minutes. It seems pretty durable and hopefully it will last for the next 10 years. It’s a great value as it’s half the cost of OEM part.

I suspect the quality is inconsistent with this manufacturer. Others seem to have no issue. However, mine almost left me stuck with being unable to open the door manually from outside or inside. It was someWhat ok for a few days. (The ‘somewhat’ is described below) The lock was installed by a skilled and trusted mechanic. His comment was that the entire actuator unit would not line up with latch pin quite right. The door would stay shut after slamming it harder than I normally would. After a few days passed the door would not unlatch from the inside our outside handle. Luckily, after fiddling with the remote lock and unlock for a few minutes, the handle released the door open. I’m not sure if the actuator mechanism ‘unstuck’ itself somehow. Needless to say, it would have been a massive headache to fix if I didn’t get lucky. I imagine that the door panel would have to be ripped open with a latched door to access the broken actuator. This would likely destroy the panel and require a new one. My suggestion is that you purchase the OEM unit instead from Amazon. It was $100 more, but it installed perfectly, lined up perfectly, and operates with 0 issues. With a little research, you’ll find it on Amazon. It’s roughly $130. I compared it to the cheap unit and OEM. The cheap unit looks and feels substantially worse than the OEM/$130 unit.

Installation was quick and took about 20 minutes. I watched a couple of YouTube videos before starting, and with just a few basic tools anyone can swap this part out. I’d definitely buy another one if I ever need to replace another door in the future. Doing it myself saved a lot of money, and the actuator works perfectly — the truck now locks and unlocks with the remote just like it should.

Like most, I am here because my door lock stopped working. After lots of digging, it seemed highly probable that the motor was dirty or burned out. I purchased this part because I didn't want to take my car apart, try to fix something and then that not be the solution. A $5 motor (link below) + $35 insurance part (this part) is still less than the $250 OEM part or taking it in for a $500+ repair. And because of this, I have pictures to show! For the most part, both the OEM and the GledewenDirect part were identical. The only complaints I had from just taking them apart is - - The Middle piece is all plastic vs the OEM has a metal piece. This piece moves back and forth, every time you lock and unlock so it's a piece that moves a lot. - The Electronic pieces didn't seem held in very well at all. (not really a big deal as the casing is pretty tight) - The plastics (casing and all) seemed to be a cheaper plastic if that makes sense, so more fragile. - No foam around the piece where it touches the car. Not sure it matters but I'm sure it helps insulate some impact etc. Over all though, I'm sure it would work out for a couple years. The motors seem identical so it's just the rest of the part in question. I replaced my motor in mine and will do so again if this happens as well as for the rest of the doors. Something about the middle section of these aftermarket ones seems like it won't last as long. I wish more people would open them up to take photos of the failed ones. But you're paying $35 for this part and you could purchase 8 for the price of the OEM one. Obviously if the OEM one was awesome, you would never need to replace it. So what's the best decision here? I installed the unit on my Lexus IS250, and the door worked fine for a week. Now, it’s not opening properly from the inside. It is poor quality, I’ll be returning it.

One defect! You cannot lock your door from the inside once installed. If you lock it from the inside as soon as you close the door, it unlocks the lock! Very inconvenient!
