Great performance for the price
We bought this projector to replace the TV in our living room and are very pleased with the results. It starts up quickly at full brightness. The 1,000 lumen picture is good, plenty bright enough for a darkened room, but you might want a projector with more lumens if there is significant ambient light. The HD image looks great projected on to the wall (which needs to be flat). The ultra short throw capability is really useful. Just place it on a sideboard or table directly in front of the wall and it projects a large image without the inconvenience of trailing cables. We didn't find the built in apps very useful, but have an Amazon FireStick plugged into the rear HDMI port, which works great for Netflix and Amazon Prime etc. The firestick doesn't quite fit into the port directly as the power connector is next to it, so we got a short HDMI extender cable which works a treat. We're using the optical audio output to a Cambridge Audio One amplifier which produces great sound. The built in speaker is functional but external speakers will sound a whole lot better. The fan is fairly quiet, particularly if you run in medium energy saving mode. If you are considering the significantly more expensive HF85LSR, this includes a brighter 1500 lumen image and all of the connections are on the rear panel, whereas with the HF65LSR some are on the side. It is just a question of whether the extra features justify the cost. For us, the HF65LSR is a better price point. I've given the brightness four stars as there are brighter projectors around, but they are likely to cost a lot more if you want ultra-short throw. Overall five stars for the price.

Home cinema ain't TV. Great projector
It is impossible to compare projectors to tv pictures and that is really important to understand. You will never have the sharpness or definition of a backlit screen on a cinema setup. I am a huge movie buff and we have just moved into a new home which has a few spare rooms, one of which being a small loft room. My wife suggested I make it into a movie room and I jumped at it. I had to do a lot of research and because of the room size (3 meters wide), I had to plump for a UST. I knew that, compared to conventional projectors, UST is never as good. But as I dont have much room, I had to calculate distance and also where the seats would go. So UST was my only hope. This one happened to be a Warehouse deal and was a lot cheaper than new. First impression was definitely a dull one, picture wise. Though I made the room dark, there was a bit of daylight and the result was wishy washy. So i tinkered on with projector presets and continued customizing them (a really good idea). As night fell, wow. Cinema time. I then realised that the size of the image has to take over my initial hope of ultra sharp. I tried to brighten and sharpen the image (which can be done btw) but it got too much for my eyesight. No way would I cope with a huge screen and an OLED sharpness. That is when I understood that, in my setup at least, because I am reasonably close to the screen, image resolution has to obey other rules. My wife and sons, unaware of the adjustments or rules I was guessing at, instantly loved it when I demoed a bit of film. It really has that movie feel, but at home!!! The projector itself is a doddle to set up, connectivity excellent. I noticed a lag soundwise (I get very anorak led with sound sync and this is like a micronano second out) on bluetooth but I have only used a spare old bluetooth speaker. If it should still lag a bit with a soundbar I will have to ditch bluetooth and use the jack connector. No big deal. Remote could do with backlight but again minor points. Linked with my Plex account in seconds and streaming is a doddle. Will add a firestick to the setup and that might even improve things as Plex tends to vary from manufacturer setup to others. Samsung is worse than Phillips for example. Remote is good, acting as a mouse pointer. Sound from projector is perfectly adequate but no one is going to watch a movie without a soundbar or some sort of speaker. Fan is what it is, no one notices when watching something. On eco it is barely noticeable but brightness suffers... So yes, all in all very exciting evenings to come! ADDON COMMENT: Unfortunately after a few days found out one of the HDMI port was faulty. Had to return and managed to get same again from Amazon warehouse. Hope that works better, but is a good idea to double check very quickly that everything works as it should on a warehouse deal before return date. FINALLY: lol... second attempt much better. It all works. Cannot emphasize enough how much better the picture is on a proper cinema screen in a dark room. Perfect for our cinema room!

Great Cinema At Home
First off I bought this knowing from other reviews that it didn't have the arieal input as it made no difference to me but if that is the input you are after avoid this projector, right onto the review set up is simplicity itself plug in turn on and your ready to go, to do a quick test I plugged a usb stick in with 1080p copy of Avengers Endgame on the stick was instantly recognised within the o/s and started the film, the room was pretty dark so the picture stood out really well, colour was good as was definition sound is only just ok so I'd definitely advise getting/using a sound bar. Now remember you are watching a big picture mine was about 100 inches so the picture is more cinema than your prized 55" LCD TV so set your expectations at that, I've yet to try it in brighter light but I expect with settings you probably get a watchable picture. One thing I would advise is if you have the room use a blackout roller blind as a screen instead of one of those cheap and nasty ones of here it's also fairly easy to hide one behind a pelmet or something As an added extra you get a magic remote control with this projector which makes it a lot easier to enter details on the big screen like WiFi password. Build quality as you would expect of LG is outstanding the unit is solid and looks nice on the shelf So in a quick summary set your expectations low and be pleasantly surprised with what you get on your big screen

Not really that smart
Decent quality projector but let down by the WebOS smart integration. For 2022 not being able to install Netflix, Amazon Prime and Disney+ is a big let down. The apps provided from the Content Store are a waste of time.

Bright and relatively quiet
I bought this after looking at loads of projectors to find the quietest one. All projectors make some noise due to the fan, and this one is no exception. When set to eco mode, the noise is relatively quiet and the brightness suitable for viewing in a darkened room, which is how I use it. The fan noise is low pitch and about the same level as the hum my fridge makes, so not too distracting and doesn't vary much. On the whole I'd recommend this projector for someone who's concerned about fan noise. The projector itself is great. I like the horizontal keystone feature, which means I can point the projector at an angle, so the picture is directly in front of where I'm sitting. The picture is bright and clear. The in-built speaker does a fair job, but doesn't compare to headphones or a dedicated speaker system. I have the projector connected to my Apple TV HD via HDMI, so don't use any of the onboard software, apart form changing the projector settings when I first received it. The power on time is fast and it will even auto-power-on when I turn on my Apple TV. Overall a great projector for the price.

Fundamentally Broken, Misleading Advertising and Poor Support.
The HF65LSR is fundamentally broken. It is impossible to run it in full brightness mode/energy saving disabled without the entire picture taking on a heavy green tint due to an issue with the WebOS implementation on this device. LG are aware of the issue but have no intention of resolving it, as such the advertised brightness is not available for use. The 38CM claim for a 100" picture is misleading in the PR images as it is 38CM from the rear of the projector not from the lens assembly or front panel as the PR images indicate. For a 100" picture you require over 68CM total and at this distance, coupled with the inability to disable power saving and utilise the advertised brightness, means the image is not bright enough to be acceptable in anything but a completely black room. The last firmware update also broke the ability to enable or disable TruMotion, which in itself was broken previously only being accessible via a sub menu of another setting, it is now impossible to disable this setting and as such every source looks overly processed and smeared. Finally despite the advertised features of WebOS, the inclusion of the "magic remote" and some PR images showing Netflix and similar running on this projector there is no Netflix, Prime or Now TV app available for it and I have been told there are no plans to release them. As such the smart features of this device are extremely limited.
