Works like a champ
I was a bit skeptical when I bought this log splitter, but I've been pleasantly surprised. I burn primarily juniper that I harvest from burn areas. This wood is fairly hard and mostly straight grained, but it's a chore to split with an axe. This splitter doesn't even slow down when splitting logs that are 18" + in size. I strongly recommend you buy the stand made for this or plan on building your own or you will have a very sore back after a few hours. This unit does not have much ground clearance. Also, because it is so low to the ground, the motor sucks up a lot of the dust and debris from splitting. Raising it up a couple of feet really helped with the sore back and the garbage getting sucked in. I did end up putting a bandana over the air intake to help prevent problems, which helped a lot.

Best Log Splitter I've Ever Used
I done a lot of research before buying the Boss FT5 and was still a bit skeptical when it arrived and I used it for the first time to split 22" to 24" rounds, which it handled them almost effortlessly. I took my time and split ten rounds in half then quartered them then shut it down and rested for 10 minutes (For my sake). I continued splitting them into smaller pieces and kindling and was thrilled the way it handled. Then continued with more rounds. It took about an hour to split almost a quarter of a chord which would have taken me several hours and much more brow sweat. I'm getting more rounds today as my wife said "I enjoyed my man toy"

Poor instructions, but useable product.
Has a little bit of a wobble to it—if you don’t tighten the bolts all the way. Once tightened down and assembled properly it works great. It is just tall enough to operate without bending over if you’re 6’ or shorter. Anyone taller and they will have to bend over just to operate the lever. The instructions are not terribly detailed. Beyond a parts sheet and showing 3x figures of each section (without a detail of what parts are used from the box or from the splitter), it takes a little attention to detail before assembly.

Awesome Splitter
There isn't a log too wide for this splitter - if the length isn't too long and it fits between the wedge and the ram, this thing will power right through it. I was going to get a 25 ton gas splitter but this splitter has split every log i have asked it to. And I have used it quite a bit. Be careful, mine was shipped with hydraulic oil on the low side of the safe zone, so that when i had this on a slight incline the pump cavitated and the ram wouldn't move. Regardless, this is a seriously industrial strength super duty log splitter and I couldn't be happier. I did quite a bit of research before I bought it.

Three Stars
Worked ok, suggest larger wheels...little flimsy...

Sturdy, well built
The log splitter stand raises the log splitter to a height allowing the user to work comfortably.

Poorly Made
While getting your log splitter up at a more user friendly height sounds like a good idea, it proved to be not that way for me when lifting heavier oak logs. The leg extensions were I’ll thought out and are in need of additional bracing. If the splitter is to be used on a flat concrete surface, it would likely feel less flimsy, but on a softer dirt surface, the leg set where the wheels attach were like spaghetti. I eventually took the leg set off and threw them away.
