Fabulous release
What can I add? The sound quality is extraordinarily good. It's a shame Pt.2 comes to a premature end but I suppose we can't have everything. If you already like this stuff and get the opportunity to buy a copy, then you won't be sorry. Please note: this review is for the "Newcastle City Hall 1972" release, not sure how it's found its way beneath other titles?

... was at school someone brought an album with a funny face on it and no name or title
When I was at school someone brought an album with a funny face on it and no name or title. Only until you open the double fold sleeve you wouldn't know it was by King Crimson. Well I was very intrigued and had to investigate. Well nearly 50 years later and I'm still investigating this fascinating band. This latest incarnation has been with us for a while now but has such a vast catalogue they can afford to be a little risky. Recorded in late 2016, this band sound as tight and intricate as any of the other live recordings. When I first heard that the Krims were going back on the road but this time with 3 drummers, I wondered what Mr Fripp was up to. Well we discovered that all drummers would be active but 1 doubling up on keyboards. A stroke of genius. The advantage with this line up is they are more than capable to re-arrange anything from any album and give it a new life. Good examples are Indiscipline and Easy Money. My all time favourite song is included in this recording which is Starless and to be quite honest, this band does it justice (shame there's no John Wetton). There's also a brilliant version of Fracture. Life couldn't get any better.

Wonderful
As King Crimson forge ahead with their excellent live performances and now covering an even wider range of the K.C. back catalogue this latest release not only covers this wider repertoire, it shows how the earlier numbers have developed over time. I saw King Crimson when they played Edinburgh last and was blown away by the experience. I thought that might be my last opportunity and was frustrated that my circumstances prevented me booking a ticket for their upcoming Glasgow show. I was, therefore, delighted that they added an Edinburgh date to the 2018 tour. There are different approaches to “moving forward” and reworking old material. I completely understood Miles Davis’ attitude that the past was the past and artists reworking the styles of his work of previous decades was just “... warmed over turkey” but on the other hand, where there is real integrity of purpose, as here, then the exercise becomes a wholly positive and artistically valuable proposition. I was mildly sceptical when I first heard of this reactivation of king Crimson but very soon I was won over. This album is further evidence to support the value of the ongoing Crimson saga. Long may it continue

Majority of the songs are fantastic great album
Never really got into this group even though I have brought a lot of their albums, some songs are fantastic and then you think where are they going with this next song but the great songs out shine the odd bad one.

Pure Majesty
Lost for words..............this is a stunning live package. The drums are like nothing I have ever heard, the rest of the gang do what they do best and play like things possessed. However, I have to single out Mel Collins who gives a true flavour of the older stuff but also rejuvenates it with stunning playing.I have not bought into the frequent release of live Crim CD's; my last investment was many years ago with the 'Great Deceiver' box set and this set is of a similar vein, in that it neatly and perfectly sums a particular incarnation of the Crimson King at a set point. This is music of the highest quality with players who are nothing short of total maters of their trade. Worth ever penny ...three hours of perfect Crim for under £15, what's not to love. Also got to say the version of Heroes is lovely!

Just stunning!
Yes there are a lot of KC live albums, incarnations, official collector bootlegs etc. Many of them are indispensable. This one joins the list. It’s a great performance from a band totally reinvented and rejuvenated by Robert Fripp (again!), playing music old, very old, and brand spanking new (oh Meltdown how I love thee!), with so much invention and enthusiasm it’s irrestistible. A band with three drummers may sound like a gimmick, but it works and then some, especially when every member of the band shines. Gavin Harrison’s arrangements breathe fresh life all over the classics such as Red, Schizoid, Larks Tongues pt 2 etc.I loved the recent Toronto and Chicago releases but this has been lovingly mixed and curated and sounds wonderful (and Thank The Lord we have a 2016 Fracture at last!). I can’t wait to see the band again at the Palladium in November! I’ve had this on repeat since it arrived. It demands immersion. Get it!

Amazingly, Crimson are at the peak of their powers
There is an absolute mass of live KC material out there and unless you have infinite resources or are an utter completist it can be hard to know where to start. I strongly advise you start here, or if you are already a fan, then continue here.Amazingly, it seems this band is at its peak as they run through a selection of their absolute catalogue highlights (for me in particular, a stonking Epitaph), adding in some new stuff for good measure. Of particular interest to some will be the inclusion of material from Lizard. The sound quality as you might imagine is impeccable with Fripp's guitar and everything Mel Collins lays his hands on bursting from the speakers.Although I can't say I have heard everything live from KC, this is by some distance the best thing I personally have heard.Go get it!

Five stars is not enough.
I would argue that King Crimson have been one of the most important rock bands for these last (virtually) 50 years - both in terms of their creativity and influence on others. It seems there may be no more studio albums, but the live music performed (and often recorded and released) by this 7 (and now 8) headed beast is nothing short of incredible. Music from across their decades is performed with as much (if not more) panache and improvisation as they have ever been. A truly progressive "way of doing things", King Crimson have once again blown the doors off. Unreservedly recommended.

Pero sigue siendo el Rey... Carmesí
Solamente Robert Fripp (y Frank Zappa) ha sido capaz de crear supergrupos para cada uno de sus discos, para cada uno de sus conciertos. Extraordinario de principio a fin.

...represents Crimson's history beautifully.
Phenomenal three CD live set from the Crimson kings. This is a total representation of what King Crimson is all about. Totally unsurpassed musicianship. This recording gives the listener a lot of King Crimson perfection.Disc one: starts with a drum spectacular "Walk on: Monk Morph Music of the Chamber" and then blends into a short "The Hell Hounds of Krim" then an absolute master version of "Pictures of a City." These guys are absolutely tight and controlled in their musicianship. "Vroom" is another Crimson favorite played to perfection. I love the extreme quality of their musicianship, all these guys are extremely talented. Mel Collins plays some absolutely beautiful sax and flute here, and the rest of the band contributes on a grand scale, with Pat Mastelotto, Jeremy Stacey and Gavin Harrison being especially good with their three pronged attack on drums. "The Court of The Crimson King" is a true homage to that brilliant piece of art, Mel Collins' flute shines here. A word about Jakko Jakszyk's vocals, they are absolutely brilliant and represents Crimson's history beautifully. And Tony Levin is truly great on stick and bass, but what's new here , he is always great. "Radical Action II" gets back to that harder Crimson sound, with Mel Collins' flute adding a softer feel to the proceedings, the drums here are absolutely riotous.Disc two: 72+ minutes of excellent music. These guys play virtually perfect music something lacking in most modern music. Again Mel Collins' sax is a star here, as are Robert Fripp's keys. "Indiscipline" is again a showcase of the three pronged drum attack that has become so important in modern King Crimson music, Jakko's vocals are especially good on this cut. This is a fabulous version of that Crimson classic. I was uncertain about the use of three drummers but I must say that its worked extremely well. "Epitaph" is a great rendition of the classic Crimson song, Jakko's vocal is so good here as are the keys. Just beautiful. "Easy Money" gives us some great Collins sax and some really great Fripp guitar, as well as some nice surrealistic vocals from Jakko. "Devil Dogs of Tessellation Row" again showcases the three drums in a wonderful give and take. "Red" is a mighty fine rendition of that Crimson favorite with Collins' whaling sax providing a good counterpoint to Fripp's brilliant guitar. The great classic "Larks Tongues In Aspic Part Two" is here in a nice version, as it has been on numerous Crimson releases, something that I must admit looking forward to every time. Disc two concludes with a super version of "Starless" one of my favorites by this band, Fripp's guitar here is amazing, and Jakko's vocal is truly great.Disc three: Encores, opens with a fantastic version of "Heroes" the David Bowie classic, the original which of course featured Robert Fripp on guitar. "Fracture" starts next with some nice sax from Mel Collins and some heavy guitar by Robert Fripp, also some delicate stuff by Fripp on this number. Next up is a great rendition of "21st Century Schizoid Man" which is beautifully rendered. Mel Collins is super here bringing the original sound of this song into the future, and Fripp's guitar is again a star on this version, as are those great drummers playing off Fripp's guitar. This disc concludes with a surrealistic "Schoenberg Softened His Hat," with lots of really nice Mel Collins flute, and continuing with "Ahriman's Ceaseless Corruptions" along with "Spenta's Counter Claim" with more of Collins' beautiful flute. All three being dramatically different from the rest of this recording. Overall this disc is a fantastic bargain, three discs clocking in at over 170 minutes of great music. Hard to beat.

Excelente
Gran concierto, como todos los que han sacado en los últimos años (Radical Action, Chicago, este y sobre todo, Meltdown). Lo vi a 12,77 € y no me lo pensé. Muy buena compra
