It's a "Hit"!
Purchased in June 2016 for $15, from Amazon.com LLC. I can't give it 5 stars, because it was a gift for a friend's 1-year-old daughter, and I haven't witnessed all the things it's supposed to do. It was slightly smaller than I expected, but it came in a Fisher-Price "semi" box: cardboard in the back (and sides, I think), and cardboard a few inches high in the front, so it was mainly "open" in the front, so you could see (and touch) the lantern. Then there was a loose, sealed cellophane bag around the entire thing, which looked kind of "tacky", so I removed that and wrapped the toy (and box) in regular wrapping paper. At the birthday party, the little girl was fascinated by it (since it lit up and "sang"). My friend told me later that her daughter, who just started walking, loves it and carries it around all the time, so I guess it was a "hit"!

Adorable!
This is a very cute toy and I'm very pleased with it now that I see it in person. My great-nephew (18 months) is very drawn to toys that are animated, and this fits the bill. The yellow smiley face lights up, and a friendly female voice sings songs and says words that will encourage little little ones to repeat the phrases. Your child can spin the wheel and push the button to change songs, and slide the orange squirrel, which as far as I can tell, just makes a zippy noise. The lantern and its handle are very sturdy and will hold up when Jonah is dragging this all over the house - a much better option than grabbing my cell phone all the time. And for adults, there is a high/low volume control and can also be set to off! This toy comes loaded with batteries but the guide says they are for demonstration purposes. Make sure you have some AA batteries on hand to avoid a melt-down when the supplied batteries quit.

Interactive even for younger babies & a toy you can grow with
One of my son's favorite toys, we introduced this around 6 months. He had a lot of toys, but none that he could control. I liked that this toy has the little spinner at the bottom, which turns the music on. As soon as my son learned he could do this himself, he was obsessed! There are a few settings and several songs. Also there is a setting where the light turns on and off and the lantern says on and off too. I'm sure this will be a good learning tool when he is older. This seems like a long lasting toy as he can use it for the next few years. My husband and I have all of the songs memorized, it's a big hit in our house.

My 7 month old and toddler both love it
I really just bought this b/c my toddler saw it while I was online shopping and wanted it (or any toy, I imagine) - since it wasn't expensive and she hadn't received any new toys recently I just bought it. I fully expected it to be a rarely used toy (it's a lantern...), but she and my 7 month old both actually love it! It has enough different features to keep them interested for quite awhile. The spinner in front was easy for my baby to figure out right away, but now she can usually manage pushing the top button too. The movable squirrel (it clicks when moved) is a little bit of a waste in our experience so far, but that doesn't matter. No obnoxious sounds, which is great for me, too :) I am surprisingly very happy with this purchase.

One of my son's favorite toys
We gave this to my 10 month old for Christmas. He loves it! It has three different settings (learning, music and bedtime music). My son loves music and light up toys. This one definitely fit the bill. He also likes to spin things. On the front there is a little spinner that he loves to play with. He loves just looking at the lantern light up and sing. I bought this thinking he would like this more as a toddler than now since it doubles as a type of flashlight for toddlers to use and the bedtime music so it was my surprise to find that he already loves it. I would recommend this for 9months to 4 or 5 year olds. My 4 year old nephew thought it was really cool and wanted one as well.

Cute and fun for my 7 month old son!
Our 7 month old son is obsessed with outdoor sounds, owls, and sing along songs. This lantern is simple, cute, fun, and a little educational. The voice is appealing and the songs are adorable. There is a nighttime, learning, and music option. There are two volume settings as well. The lantern lights up, sings, and/or teaches when the oragnge button on top is pressed and when the daytime/nighttime wheel at the bottom is spun. The orange squirrel on the left can be pushed up/down and makes clicking noises. This a winner in my son's eyes.

Long Lasting
My grandson is 9 years old and multiply handicapped (non verbal, cannot walk, tube fed etc.) He is very hard on toys as he bangs them about. But this one delights him, entertains him for hours (his parents can even go out to eat with him and he sits and plays. It is not so loud that it annoys other diners.) and the first one lasted 5 years. I was glad to be able to find a replacement.

The nighttime mode is a life-saver
I babysit for an autistic child who plays with electronic toys virtually nonstop. This lantern is one of her favorite daytime toys on it's normal modes and at night when it's time for bed, this is the only toy I allow to stay powered on. The "night time" mode is a nice combination of quiet songs, relaxing nature sounds and a sleepy "night night" which I find myself able to fall asleep to and seems to soothe my little comrade into sleep much faster than anything else we've tried. In spite of the light up function, batteries last a decently long time. I've had it for nearly a month and haven't replaced them once yet!
