Z623 400 Watt Home 2.1 Speaker System - Black | 400 watt, 2.1-channel, powerful bass, home audio system

Tonight, I got a scare -- these speakers, which I've loved for the short time I've had them (i.e., since mid October), sounded tinny and thin. I checked the connections. I rebooted the computer. Still tinny. Then, it occurred to me (my mind must be slowing down) that no speaker problem would speed up the music. Aha! It was my Enounce program -- a program that lets you listen to audio at up to 3 times its normal speed. I had it set for 2X normal speed after listening to a tutorial by a drawling presenter. I set it back to 1X the recorded speed and, voila!, the music was back. So, since I had found myself more than willing to write a damning review of the longevity of these speakers, I felt it only fair to write a review of just how good they are. So, that's why I'm adding yet another 5-star review of these things. What's not to love. Their sound is outstanding. You can set the bass levels to where you want them -- and the bass is not that terrible boomy stuff of boom boxes and miserably made speakers. It is, rather, crisp and unobtrusive. The mid-range is clear. And, for all my aged ears can still discern, the highs are there. (Alas, when younger, my hearing test for the Air Force had my hearing right up there with dogs. Well, not quite. I couldn't hear a dog whistle. But, I could hear the highest tones that the hearing test provided making my line slightly above the chart. Now, I know, some of the higher frequencies are lost on me.) Volume is no problem. While those who are deaf and those who aspire to become deaf may not find the higher volumes sufficient, most who would rather hear music rather than test their pain tolerances should be quite happy with these. Could they be better? Well, perhaps I might welcome both: a) left-right balance controls and b) a remote. The former can be handled by software that's already on your computer if you go hunting for it. The latter is for those who build up a heckuva lot of static electricity while sitting on a cold winter's night. I'd rather discharge it on the remote than risk zapping the speakers. That age thing, alluded to already you may have noticed, might at any time get me to forgetting to discharge any built-up charge on the case of the computer instead. You could spend a lot more and do a lot worse (sorry Bose). But, why? My musical preferences: jazz, classical, some folk, and a handful of individuals who fall into none of these categories. So, if you're interested in hard rock or the alleged thoughts of rap "artists," you may well want to move onto another review. With computer speakers, it has been my experience that few last for all that long. But, these do appear to be made well. So, I'm optimistic that they will continue to perform well for some time to come. ========================================================================== Unrelated tip: That Enounce program is a freebie and well worth installing if you take courses or listen to tutorials or simply want to race through ads that won't allow you to skip them. It does a good job of speeding things up without making the voices sound like Mickey Mouse after he inhales helium. ========================================================================= Another unrelated tip from John Templeton (a legendary investor): The fastest way to double your wealth is to double your gratitude. Without gratitude, there is no possible perception of wealth.

EDIT/NOTE: After about a year, these speakers developed a loud static/crackle noise when you'd touch the power button. Sounded like it was almost shorting out whenever I'd go to turn it on. (And bear in mind, that I dust frequently and keep a very clean house). Just wanted to let everyone know, if your speakers develop this problem, it can be rectified by simply taking an aerosol can of electric contact cleaner; use the little "straw" that comes with the cleaner; unplug your speakers from your outlet, and spray the contact cleaner all around the power button, directing it into the space between the power button and the case, all around the circumference of the button. Spray it good; give it a few minutes to dry, and plug your speakers back in. Voila! Good as new. These speakers produce the highest-quality bass that you will ever find anywhere even near this price point, hands down! Tight but full bass which will not disappoint. That being said, while the overall sound is definitely high-quality, it is not audiophile quality- but you were not eriously expecting that for this price, were you? Then again, these were obviously meant to be computer & A/V speakers (Although I use them for bedroom music speakers), so they were engineered to fill that niche, and they EXCEL at that purpose! I'm reviewing them more so from the perspective of music speakers- so plrease bear that in mind. My only real complaint, is that highs and certain mids can be rather recessed. That's it. If they had merely added a tweeter to each satellite, these speakers would be PERFECT. Even so, they still sound great- and the average user who listens to popular music probably wouldn't even notice. And that being said, they STILL sound better over-all than anything you can get anywhere near this price point which will retain powerful and quality bass. A few other niceties: The on/off button; Volume control; and bass level control are on one of the satellite speakers- so you can control everything conveniently and quickly, including the subwoofer. A headphone jack, and a 3.5mm input jack are also located on the same satellite- so you can plug your MP3 Player in easily. There is also a 3.5mm input on the sub, and R & L RCA input jacks on the sub. The actual components are very well-built and of nice quality. Heavy; not cheap and cheesy. And the sub is built sturdily and heavy enough to take the pounding of the bass that it is capable of producing, with no rattles or other annoying noises. The system works well at all volumes, from loud, to barely perceptible- including the sub, which still does it's thing, even at the lowest volume, and maintains the bass in proper proportion, even at very low volume- and thanks to the bass control knob, you can choose to have virtually no bass at all...or overwhelming bass- or anything in-between. You can tailor it just the way you like for your preferences and listening needs. The only slight caveats: The cables which connect the satellites to the sub are about 6' long. If you want to place the speakers further apart (Their placement in the room, and the orientation of the sub can make substantial differences in the sound) you'll have to get extensions. A standard RCA extension cable for the left satellite can be had for 6 bucks, but the special cable needed to extend the right cable (which contains all the controls) is rather expensive- ranging from 25 to 50 clams or more, depending on the length you need. Considering the qualityu of these speakers though, and the price for which you can get them here on Amazon, that doesn't bother me as much as it otherwise might- even if you spend 40 bananas on an extension, these speakers are still a great deal, and will still sound better than anything you can get for the combined price. Only other minor complaint: There are no keyholes or any other attachment points on the satellites for wall mounting. To be fair thopugh, most other systems designed primarily for computer use do not have such features either (Withj my old speakers, I drilled my own- without even taking the speakers apart- and I got lucky, and didn't hit anything inside...but I'm not willing to take that chance with these- so I made little shelves for the satellites, and velcroed them to the shelves!) That's it. Summary: If you're looking for great-sounding speakers for any purpose, with amazing bass, and are not prepared to spend several hundred bucks, get these! Period! Others aren't even close at anywhere near this price. There's no competition- these are simply the best you can get at this price point- case closed; no regrets!

I'm a bassist who travels frequently, and when I can't get to the studio it's crucial I have a low-latency system to record at very least scratch on my computer; this system is perfect for that. The simple RCA and 3.5mm inputs introduce virtually zero output latency, while the 7" subwoofer can reproduce down to 35Hz, a feat for such a small system. Powerful enough to fill my home office, it's not great for watching 4K movies in 5.1 surround, but I can dial in my toan just fine and then some. Installation is a breeze, the box it ships in is perfect for mobility. Three connections and you're good to go. It even has a separate bass knob to adjust to your preference. No remote control, but that's gravy, honestly.

I replaced my six-year-old Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 (K) that went kaput with the analog-only Logitech Z623 (Z). Here is a direct comparison: Specs & Build: both systems occupy a similar price range. The Z subwoofer is physically larger (approx. 1.8" x 2.4" x 1.0" larger) than the K, while the Z satellites are slightly more compact. Power-wise, the Z is rated at 400W peak (200W RMS), doubling the K’s 200W peak rating. Setup was a breeze. The 3.5mm cable is barely long enough with the PC on the right and the subwoofer on the left of the desk; I had to get an extension. Sound Quality Mids: The K produces richer mid-tones, offering better vocal and instrument definition. Highs: The Z delivers crispier sparkling highs. Bass: The Z’s bass is significantly more powerful and deeper. It handled my test tracks—featuring sub-drops, downsweeps, and wobble bass—without distortion, even at high volumes. The Z delivered the best experience I've had playing electronic music with the above features. Design & Placement: aesthetics are secondary to function for me. The Z satellites sit securely on my desk corners with a fixed up-tilt (approx. 25 degrees from the vertical), pointing the drivers directly at my ears for optimal high-frequency experience. Durability: my previous Logitech system lasted a decade before I gave it away fully functional. I expect similar longevity from the Z623. My primary usage is electronic / synth music playback, with occasional gaming.

It sounds very good for $189. It's a lot better than the other older 3-piece Logitech unit which crashed permanently about two days ago. On this new one, there is little to no distortion with the volume at max which is much louder than any other PC system I've ever heard. I'll never turn it up that loud, but it speaks well for the designers of the system. The specs say 200W RMS and 400W peak. It’s a little shy on the high treble and two other reviewers said. But when you have the midrange speakers at moderate volume and sub volume separately turned up 3/4 volume. It's all nicely balanced. The main volume turns up the little sub in proportion to however you have the sub’s volume set with a separate knob. Together with the two smaller speakers positioned at equidistance from the listener, all three speakers provide good "sound-staging." That is you can visualize the vocalist on stage separately from some of the instrumentalists, sort of in 3D. You’ll have to set the speaker balance with your PC since there is no balance control on the unit or the speaker controls. It provides good stereo sound channel separation. The small sub range is just low enough to give the listener of a male baritone vocalist the feeling of full range audio the vocalist deserves. It's a ported sub. But it's not a distorted low range thumper at all. It’s well designed to complement the upper sound frequencies. It probably hits 70hz or 80Hz on the low end. Not really as much of a sub as a complimentary OK midrange. It was simply designed to compliment the other two speakers and does a very good job of that. Still, it's not in the league of very high end audiophile equipment. But it's a very good value. It maintains an adequately good performance to bear the Logitech brand name which is the main reason I bought it. Knowing that, you should be very happy with this unit.

I purchased a set of these for my mum who was using an old Klipsch ProMedia 5.1 set from ~2004/2005 that finally went out. These were perfect for her computer room's constraints, and since she was using the Klipsch as a 2.1 anyway, there wasn't really a huge difference in terms of footprint. First, I'll say this much: These speakers, for their size and price, are very, very impressive. Sure, they don't come quite as close to the ProMedia 5.1s in bass (I didn't expect they would, but they are VERY close with very powerful bass), but I have read other reviews that they're comparable to the current Klipsch 2.1s which, like the Logitechs, have a single subwoofer driver. The primary difference between the Klipsch 2.1s and these seems to be in the mid/high range where the single-driver satellites of the Logitechs fall off a bit in frequency response. Likewise, the base reproduction isn't quite as good as the much larger Z-5500 which is sadly no longer in production, but I'll be honest: It comes close. For as tiny as the sub seems compared to the 5500s, it packs a surprising punch. Yes, audiophiles, I'm sure its frequency response doesn't go nearly as deep, but for the average consumer these things are fantastic! Hilariously, I wasn't expecting a lot when I took some time off to set them up, so as soon as I turned on some music to give these a trial run, I was astounded that something so small could produce the bass it does! The subwoofer's driver isn't terribly large (7 inch, I think?) compared to the dual 8" drivers of the Klipsch 5.1s and the 10" of my Z-5500, but from the purely economic and somewhat subjective perspective of sound-output-per-dollar, it delivers. I'd definitely recommend these speakers if you're looking for something that has a decent amount of power, especially in the low range, but isn't nearly as expensive as other options. Also, the satellites look nice, and the sub is mounted in what feels like particle board rather than plastic as is common in MUCH cheaper options. Plus, setup is also very easy, and I'm pretty sure my mum could manage putting this set together on her own if she had to! If you're not much of an audiophile and are just looking for a relatively inexpensive (but good!) set of speakers that don't take up much room, these are perfect. The sub is somewhat largish compared to the driver size--though only about 2/3rds the size of the Klipsch and probably half that of the Z-5500s--but it should fit under or near most desks relatively well. Other reviews complained a bit about cable length, but if you've got the sub stuffed near the sound source I can't imagine it would be an issue--especially if they're used as computer speakers. Oddly, these have RCA inputs for L/R auxiliary channels on the sub, so I'd imagine these might be useful as an inexpensive 2.1 setup for movies or the likes; though, there's no HDMI, coax, or optical (and at this price, you'd be silly to expect it). These are definitely an excellent choice if you're pressed for space, and the sound reproduction is very good for their modest size. My only complaint is that the volume control is quite stiff, and my mum has osteoarthritis in her thumbs. She can turn the knobs without trouble but it might be of concern to anyone who has similar problems. One word of warning: The set appears to ship thinking it's powered on, so I'd suggest plugging in the satellites including the one with the control group (it's the one with a large serial-type cable, though somewhat similar in appearance to a DSUB connector) before plugging the sub into a power source. If you don't, you'll hear a few very startling pops. I'm not sure if that's bad for the speakers, but I wouldn't risk it again! Oh, and don't forget to break them in for a few hours as you would with most speakers.

Just a few notes: I've always lived in an apartment setting so my computer speakers have been used in up to a master-bedroom sized setting. I've owned this set for two months as of this writing. Prior to owning this Logitech Z623 set, I owned a really old set of Creative T1000 Inspire Speakers. That Creative set was a 2.1 setup with two speakers and one medium sized subwoofer. The sound was very decent and I liked the bass levels. I generally listen to music with iTunes and I set the EQ in iTunes to 'Rock' for most everything which suits my needs. This is a good, solid speaker set. I went through a Cyber Acoustics CA-3602 (extremely muffled bass, poor sound quality) and Corsair SP2200 speaker set as well (with similar issues) that just didn't cut it for me. I'm not an audio expert, so forgive me if I incorrectly use some terms in the rest of the review. Sound: Sound quality is good to me! However I feel like something is missing. It could be the "mid's" that I'm so used to with my older speakers. But compared to other sets I tried (and returned), this fits my needs. I'm really nitpicking at that, and by no means is the sound from these Logitech speakers sub par. Bass: My requirement for a speaker set was that 1) the bass has to be good, clean bass and 2) I need a bass knob to adjust the bass (sometimes I'll pump it up, sometimes I don't need so much bass). With the Z623, I now know what "deep bass" sounds like. Honestly, I could really anger the neighbors living upstairs if I cranked the volume up some more. It's pretty good bass.. and the low bass sounds great. Power: I'm considerate to people living around me in this apartment complex, so I notice that the setup is at a good, enjoyable volume with the knob turned 25% from zero. I think if I turn this thing to 50%, I'll get a warning. At 75%, I expect to get evicted. Don't ask me what happens at 100% - I have not tried and would expect to fly back like Marty did in the opening of Back to the Future. Headphone/Aux Jack: There are headphone and aux jacks on the RIGHT speaker. Useful if I want to hook up an iPad, PSP or other device where I am at home and want to hear better audio while I'm using it. UPDATE 10/22: I thought I would add that when hooking up a device to the audio AUX port, it doesn't block out your other audio. An example of this is when I hooked up my iPad's headphone-out sound to the Logitech speaker set's AUX in port. I could still hear what was going on my PC in addition to sound coming from the iPad. :) iPhone: This is a random topic to address, but my previous set of speakers used to react to the nearness of my iPhone 3GS with an annoying buzz (or, as my friend liked to call it, those drum hits from that song "That girl is poisonnnnn..."). On my Creative speakers, it was extremely loud even if the phone was 6-10 feet away. With these speakers, this issue is non-existant. Finally! You mean I can have my iPhone near me when I use my computer now? Amazing. All in all, a good set for the price for my apartment-living/gaming/music-listening needs.

I couldn't find any reviews from Logitech Z4 owners, so I decided to take a leap and tell you all about it. First off for those of you who don't know, the Logitech Z4 2.1 system was the "mid-grade" and right under the infamous Z-2300. The Z4 remains one of the best mid-grade speaker systems ever made by Logitech. I've owned and liked the Z4 for the past 3 years but I wanted something more... I wanted more mids, more highs and of course, more bass. I was going to go the Z-2300 route and buy them used (since they are out of production as of this review). However, I wanted a system with a warranty, so I decided to pick the Z623. I never listened to the Z-2300, so I can't comment how they compare. Looks: At first glance, the Z623 feels like a more expensive system. Looks wise, they are ugly. The Z4's look more elegant. The Z623 speakers have that upside down raindrop look to them. What were Logitech thinking with this design?? The satellites took up a lot more space width and depth wise, but thats ok since the bigger drivers on the Z623 delivered more rich sound. The satellites felt expensive and did not feel cheap at all. They are made of plastic, but the hard expensive plastic feel. I also like how the satellite speakers have a metal grill protecting the drivers. On the Z4, nothing is protecting them. So the risk of damage is a lot higher. I was always paranoid around the Z4 satellite speakers for that reason. Now with the Z623, those anxieties are gone. Overall Sound: Regardless of looks, the most important part is the sound. Since the Z4's already produced great sound quality, it would take a lot to impress me, and luckily these did! First the bass hits hard and low. At the same volume level, the Z623 packed more bass. If you love bass, and need bass, this is the system for you. The bass is accurate and more boomy then the Z4's. Keep in mind the sub-woofer speaker is much bigger then the Z4's. The Z4's lacked mids and I heard the Z623 lacked mids as well. Comparatively speaking, the Z623 delivered more mids then the Z4 and I was quite relieved. I play games and listen to music and was able to hear small details I didn't hear with my Z4 and now I hear them with the Z623 because the Z623 has improved mids over the Z4 (as it should for being almost 2X more expensive...) One of the important things I look for in speakers is the highs. I want to be able to hear the bullet shells drop on the ground in Battlefield 3 and Modern Warfare 3. I want to be able to hear the trees ruffling in Skyrim. I read a couple of reviews that said the Z623 lacked highs. I disagree. The Z623 does highs wonderfully, and I think if it was any brighter, I would have to tone them down in the EQ on my PC. Even though the Z623 does not have a separate tweeter, the Z623 delivered more highs then the Z4. It was more bright and it met my expectations for highs. FYI: Some people thing where the THX symbol is on the speaker are tweeters, but they are not. They are ports, not tweeters. Like I said, even though the speakers lack tweeters, the drivers were still able to produce very bright highs (more then the Z4). Overall, the sound on the Z623 are much better. The Z623 sound more full and rich. What I mean by this is, I was able to hear small details in the mid and highs that I didn't hear with the Z4. Also note, after about a couple days of usage, the sound started to get better. The mids and lows (sub woofer) started to sound better. Keep in mind like most speakers, it takes some time and use to loosen the coils. After about 4 days, the speakers sounded awesome. I was a bit nervous at first because the speakers didn't sound full. Sound with music: I listen to everything from techno to rap and everything in between. Music was accurate and anything with bass you could feel it. Listening to music on the Z623 breathed new life into all of my music. The Z4's played them well, but the Z623 sound range just made everything sounded more alive and in front of you, if that makes any sense. Sound with gaming: I do a lot of gaming, so sound is just as important as graphics to me. If the sound is not good, the game play suffers because if you can't hear the foot steps behind you, or a dragon coming to get you. With the Z4, the sound was great, but with the Z623, the sound is even better! When I was playing BF3, I heard more detail in the explosions. Even when reloading my weapon, I heard extra "clicking" sounds of the gun that I did not hear with the Z4. In Starcraft 2, I was able to hear more detail with the workers were mining for minerals. When playing Skyrim, the sound of the dragon fire coming towards you comes with intensity and depth that the Z4 couldn't deliver due to lack of mids. Even though the details are small, that make a huge difference because it just enhances the experience and the detail. Usability: At first, I was sad to see Logitech took the cheap route and not offer a separate pod to control the volume. I really liked how the pod worked on the Z4. However, I am now glad they didn't for the Z623. No pod means less wires and more space on your desk. On the right speakers is where you will find the power button, volume control nob and bass nob. When its on, a small faint orange LED light is right above the power button. Its very dim, so it doesn't distract. The volume nob is smooth and doesn't make any "crackling" sounds then you adjust the volume. The bass nob feels smooth also. Over all, the control scheme for the Z623 is better then the Z4. I sometimes like to hear songs from my iPod through the speakers and was glad to see the Z623 does have in audio input. This is something that the Z-2300 doesn't have. Summary: Pros - Sound quality is great, a good improvement over my old Z4's. - Bass is accurate and can definitely shake your room. At high volume, everything on my desk almost fell over! - Mids were still lacking, but from the Z4, the mids were better. - Highs were nice and bright. It sounded as if the speakers had tweeters (but they do not). - Integrated controls on the right speaker saves space for a separate control pod. - Sound is rich and full. - Video game sounds brought out the games. It sounds so clear and crisp that you felt as if you were in the game. - Metal grill on the satellite (and sub-woofer) protect the speakers very well. Cons - Mids are still lacking, but not as bad as my old Z4's. But the lack of mids aren't bad, just wish it had a little bit more mids. - Speakers looks ugly. - Satellite speakers take up much more space then the Z4. - Retail price is high, but if you can snag them for $120 or under, do it. Final thoughts: For those of you who are clinging to the Z4 but are itching for a better upgrade, I would highly recommend the Z623. The Z623 sound quality is just like the Z4, but better. Its better because it packs more bass, better mids and higher highs. Z4 owners are penalized price wise because theirs nothing in the $60-$80 range that can match the sound quality of the Z4. If you want to maintain that sound quality, you have to get the Z623 to be satisfied. I listened to the Z4 replacement, the Z523, but it was not as good as the Z4. If you have the money to upgrade, or if you want to get something that will be better, then don't wait, order the Z623.

If the speaker goes into standby, it needs to be turned off and the again on, or you won't get any sound, even if you start for example Youtube.

Overall Best value for money and best sound , slightly less on features, but still give it full marks -as does main job as speakers excellently. I have used three speakers thus far 1.Fenda 330 bt= 56 watts RMS= Bluetooth , Bass control, but no USB or memory-awesome value for money n cheapest.Failed on one IC being out switched 2 to 1 Audio in. Great buy still on reliance digital for rs 1999.Nothing can beat this young beast in terms for value for money. Though its a discontinued model. 2.Logitech Z-623 =200 wats RMS, simply mind blowing, THX Certified , lovely bass at low volumes , unbeatable price at rs 9000 from cloud tail-amazon...Go blindly , if your budget is for up to 10000. Nothing in the market at that price comes closer to it at the moment. Sadly no bluetooth, USB Connection , only Aux. But best music in market at that price. No doubts. looks like an model soon to be outdated , hence selling below at MRP Price of rs 16455. The build quality of speakers is rich premium feel-awesome 3.LG OM4560- After I bought Logitech Z-623 above , a week back , wanted another speaker in lieu of my ailing Fenda model above. I am neither a music buff , nor a techie , but an ex guitarist and a layman , who like s all kinds of music and appreciates good speakers. This speaker sounded good and was advertised as 220 watts RMS at chroma wrongly , where I went in to listen it. Plus the reviews on Amazon India n flipkart. LG has come a long way indeed. this is a small boombox and good for a 260 sq feet room but music wise way below bass on logitech Z-623 above. The areas where it scores is , Bluetooth,USB, One single unit compared to other 2.1 channels , beautiful led changing lightings , n mike of ahuja make , which came along with it from a local store -which gave the best price at rs 14350...Online the price is expensive. better buy from a local dealer who is cheaper than online and vijay sales, chroma , sargam etc..The things which go against this is -not a party speaker n low on bass compared to above and may be others in that price range. And a hefty price tag at 14350. Is it value for money ???? I have some doubts , but my kids aged 20 and 22 , do like modern day features , like blue tooth , n mike , hence a keeper. 4. Tried sony sa-d100 4.1 channel speakers-100 RMS (rs 8490-loca store) and Fenda F& d 3800 fx 5.1 channel with 80 RMS and reliance digital Reconnect electra at reliance show room. While Sony is good at rs 8500 in Reliance digital , F&D is value for money. Reconnect is okay on bass and VFM but doubt on after sale service and parts , hence out of equation. I have listened to many sets in showroom and read a lot of reviews , as am a guy who researches on his electronic toys before buying..In terms of ranking , here it goes.. 1.Logitech z623-undisputed champion on bass and clarity -THX certified-Old model though, but nothing beats it..especially for party occasions. 2.Number two LG OM 4560 -If money no problem , as host of good features and remember is a single carry on unit. LG's FH2 Model is an alternative with equally good sound and can be carried as with built in trolley n has rechargeable battery too.This is not a party speaker , good for room sizes up to 250 sq feet , but definitely behind logitech above. 3.F& D comes third , though best value for money , but is a chinese company and we normally would avoid a chinese product these days , though they offer good variety in lots of 2.1 and 5.1 channel speakers. 4. Would avoid Sony- least good looking and very costly after sale maintenance. Sony has taken Indian market for a ride ...and penalised Indians for loyalty , not shown else where in world. The parts are expensive , services charges are exorbitant. stay away from a sony product , unless you are a diehard sony fan..My best wishes then. 5. Where to buy-Amazon and flipkart offer good choices and reviews , with Amazon slightly better on prices compared to flipkart in terms of prices and questions answered , no where on any other e-commerce website. where to listen the speakers personally- Croma,Vijay sales,Sargam -for live performance , but not to be bought from these big retail chains as too many overheads and will not bargain. Best to buy from local exclusive brand stores , unless its a lighting deal from amazon or flipkart. Bought the Logitech Z623 on discount at S$149. This is an older legacy model but the sound quality remains top notch. The bass is superb. All the controls/knobs being located on the right speaker makes it very convenient to adjust things - even the amount of bass. This is more practical than the newer designs where Logitech provides a separate hockey puck for adjustments, or other models where the bass knob is located on the subwoofer.
