How much cake batter will an 8 inch heart pan hold? Wondering if I can get two heart cakes out of one box of cake mix.

According to Wilton, for an 8" x 2" heart-shaped cake pan, it calls for 3-1/2 cups of cake batter for 1 layer. According to Betty Crocker, a typical box of cake mix yields 4 cups of batter. With that said, if you did 2 cakes that are 2 cups deep, then it would be possible. Here is a link to Wilton's website. http://www.wilton.com/cms-wedding-cake-data.html. Hope this helps. Thank you.

Regarding aluminum. Is it safe for baking?

All of our aluminum baking products are tested to state and federal requirements to ensure their safety for our consumers. Aluminum has been used in baking products and other food contact products for decades and is not known to have any adverse health effects. This pan is safe for and intended for baking and is oven safe up to 450 degrees Fahrenheit.

can i bake something in the oven with this pan only?

This pan is intended for cakes, but can be used with the recipe of your choice. It is oven-safe up to 450 degrees Fahrenheit. It takes about 4 cups of batter (a little less than a cake mix), we recommend filling 2/3 of the way and baking at 350 degrees for 40-45 minutes.
