Fifty Great Short Stories (Bantam Classics)

This book was assigned for a university class, so I appreciated the affordable pricing. I also love having so many classic authors collected in one place and easy to carry with me. It is a great edition with a wide range of voices and styles, and it makes reading these timeless stories simple and convenient.

Great stories all in one book

Like most collections only the editor himself will like all of these stories, and everyone else will find some of them tedious though mercifully short. The collection is from 1952, and time has not been kind to some of the stories. However many of the authors are well known and even the pickiest of readers will find some gems that make this volume worthwhile. My favorites were Steinbeck's "The Chrysanthemums", Wilbur Daniel Steele's "How Beautiful with Shoes", and Faulkner's "That Evening Sun". The price is great and the size is perfect for your night table or for bringing on the beach.

Great book, it has all the classic short stories. Great to read while on the road van camping.

A very good collection and one that everyone should have. I have returned to many of the stories many times and never get tired of reading a well written and well-developed character more than just once.

Great book in good shape

A nice array of little-known short stories, many written by well known authors… all in one ample volume. Great “tween time” reading ! AJG, MD

When all you do is work like I do someone has little idea how much this type of book is appreciated. It gives normalcy of conversation and joyful rememorances each time I read the few pages I squeeze into my nights. Sometimes I double read a page to make the memories of the occurrences stick. When I go to sleep the treacherous days activities that I had experienced are now gone. Thank you for being a writer, you make happy readers.

I bought this for my wife, she loves all the short stories.

Maravilhoso, escolha de autores e contos muito legal. Eu costumo ler e ir marcando as palavras que desconheço. Normalmente leio 2 ou 3 páginas, e só então procuro no Google.

Great book

Ho comprato questo libro per praticare la lettura in inglese. Devo dire che nonostante la mia volontà le storie contenute non attraggono molto... forse è questione di gusti.
