The Studio Albums 1978-1991

This is an exceptional value, considering the cost of each individual disc. The set is 6 discs, each with individual sleeve & separate liner notes/lyrics. The box itself is well produced & attractive-not over sized or unnecessarily packaged. A great collection of albums. A must for any Dire Straits fan.

After not listening to Dire Straits for years, I went back and found I really enjoy their music. My tastes have changed so it's like discovering a new band

This is a difficult review for me to write as I rarely recommend backing up your collection, but this is worth the money. I had all of the Dire Straits LPs except Communique (don't remember what happened to it). Because their music is some of the best I have ever listened to, I have played them many, many times since they were purchased. I also have Brothers in Arms and On Every Street in CD. Brothers in Arms because it has an intro to Your Latest Trick that the LP didn't and On Every Street because it came out on CD before it was made into an LP.So, now comes along some company and says they are going to release all the albums on vinyl....4 years ago. It was a pre-order so long that I actually had another merchant drop my pre-order believing it would never be done. Well, next thing I know, it shows up as a pre-order from Rhino. I went back on the list. Glory be! They said they would be shipping soon. So I waited....and it was worth the wait. When the set arrived, I carefully listened to every one of the LPs to see how close to the original they were. Spot on and better! The sound quality matched the originals and, in some spots was better...and the intro to Your Latest Trick was there. The slip case is decent in construction and the album covers are just like the originals. They are a treasure I will long enjoy. And the price cannot be a factor if you truly love Dire Straits as you will never be able to do this again after they are sold out. So, whether you don't have the albums or CDs that Dire Straits did or you have every one of them, I would still recommend this boxed set for your collection. I look at what vinyl is going for these days and you can't complain about the price of these 8 LPs at all. C'mon, you know you want 'em. Close your eyes, take a deep breath and order them now. Before it says...."Out of stock. We don't know when these will be back."

I think all of these collections are biased by how big a fan you are. I enjoy Knophfler's solo work more so but this was better than expected. Worth the money. Another thing is I hate MTV and videos and particularly 80's music trends so I was a little tired of some of their music.

Received it quick and great price

Includes some of their harder to find music. Nice set of albums for the price. Of my favorite 3 Aussie bands, Dire Straits / Scorpions / Men at Work, this was a nice comprehensive collection of Dire Straits music. What I liked the most was that there were albums / songs on this set I had problems finding anywhere else.

Great set from Knopfler and company. Each disc is housed in original album art work with liner notes, photos , lyric. All six albums in a thoughtful box, zero plastic. Great work from Dire Straits 78-91.

This box of six CDs is reasonably priced and a good way to get some of the early albums (most people have Brothers in Arms, but not much else). I can't comment on the LP version of this package (yet) but the reviews for the vinyl release have not been great; the CD release, on the other hand, seems fine to me. I have all these albums on original release vinyl (I was a fan from the first album), and a couple of them on CD, but I wanted to complete the CD set.The audio has not been remastered (at least I hear no difference in the tracks from the first CD releases) but the studio engineering is still quite good. Some of these tracks would have benefited from a redo, but so be it. The CDs all worked fine, and sound better than I remembered (it's been many years since I listened to the early tracks). The presentation on this box is minimal: you get the CDs in cardboard sleeves and nothing else. Still, as a way to get early Straits albums, this is a good box to pick up (CD only; I reserve comments on the LPs until I give them a try!).

Ainda não escutei para falar da qualidade do vinil, mas o material gráfico não está a altura do preço."Brother in arms" e "On every street" são discos duplos e possum capas simples. Tenho uma cópia do "Brothers in Arms" 180 g que possui capa dupla e material gráfico muito melhor.

Em relação ao produto em si não tenho reclamações. Dire Straits é uma banda sensacional com uma discografia fantástica.Já a entrega me deixou bem decepcionado. Enviaram o produto que é pesado em uma envelope bem fininho de plástico. Por causa disso todos os cantos ficaram amassados, e o plástico que sela o produto em si estava todo rasgado, como se já tivesse sido aberto. Decepcionante.

Albums ok but not remastered as advertised. No mention anyware on album cover or box. I was a bit disappointed as i already had some of the original albums.
