Hunter X-Core XC800i Indoor Sprinkler Timer, 8 Zone Irrigation Controller

Lightning strike took out our old Hunter 9 zone controller. I replaced it with this one, doubled up on two zones, and it tested fine. Smaller unit, easy install. I cannot address longevity yet, but this was a painless replacement.

My old Hunter Pro-C had several modules that failed after 12 years. It would have cost as much to replace the modules as to purchase a new Hunter XC800i 8-Core. The feature set of the XC800i is virtually identical, and the 8-Core has enough stations for me since I only had 7 stations in use on my old Pro-C. Installation was straight forward using the wires from my old unit. Programming it was a breeze since I just reset up the old program on the new one unit. Since the controls are basically identical, I was finished everything in under an hour, including removing the old unit. The only caveat is that the XC800i is smaller, so the mounting screws aren't in the same location as the old unit. As a result, I have a mounting hole in my dry wall from the old unit that is not covered by the new unit. The XC800i seems to work exactly like my old Pro-C after being in service for about a month.

I had to replace my original Hunter X-Core but wanted the exact same one. Well the one I had was a 2013 model and this new one is the newer updated version but it operates the exact same way as the original one did. Super easy to install and program. Just take a picture of the original one, unplug the power supply, unscrew all.your wires, remove the old controller, then run run your wires the exact same way you took them off using the picture you took. All in all, it took me about 10 minutes to hook it up, another 5 to program it.

Box is too small and cramped for wiring, but i have to say this controller with solar sync works really, really well.

It looks like what I expected. My old original unit is still working for the most part after 15 years. I can not start in and run in manual except one zone at a time. My old unit still works other than that . So this is a aback up for my old Timer and will one day be needed. I did by the extended warranty.

Easy install! Take some pictures before you dismantle the existing control, disconnect the wires and install the new control. Easy!

This unit is an exact replacement for the original 10 year old unit, took about 45 minutes including manually running the zones to ensure operation. The removal and replacement is generally straight forward however, I suggest you write down all the run times for each zone, helps in programming the new unit. Also be sure to remove the plastic battery shield to ensure you have a battery back-up for any power outages. Satisfied Customer.

My previous unit was over 21 years old and was unreliable, meaning it wouldn't always follow the program. This unit was an almost straight across install. Be sure to take a photo of your wires so you keep your irrigation zones in the proper order. Otherwise it was a very simple install which took about an hour at most. It was very simple to program, maybe a little easier than my previous one.I did a test run and it is working great. 4 Stars because the LED readout could be a bit larger and easier to read.

I had it professionally installed and he said it is the model that they normally use.I bought it as it was less expensive at Amazon the the local area.
