Thumbs up from this girl with thick, fine, "swavy" hair
The day I discovered the ceramic flat iron was a happy day for me, indeed! I have always loved straight, sily-smooth hair. I had that kind of hair myself until about 5th grade. Ever since then, I've had weird waves and a big struggle on my hands. A blow dryer, paddle brush, a bunch of time, and lots of product were not cutting it. Even at the salon it took the stylist over an hour to blow my hair out, and the finished product was not as straight as I wanted it. I live in the very humid deep South, which doesn't help the situation. Needless to say, I was very happy the first time I used a modern ceramic flat iron and acquired one as soon as I could afford it. The first flat iron I had was great--while it lasted, which was for about a year. After that one bit the dust, I was so disappointed. I missed my beautiful flat ironed hair, but was wary to spend that kind of money for a product with such a short lifespan. I tried a cheaper model that had good reviews on Amazon, but I found that my type of hair really needs a heavy-duty product with variable heat. Lesson learned: if you have REALLY thick/wavy hair, steer clear of cheap flat-irons. They are good for some light smoothing, but they do not have the heft to get thick hair truly straight. Finally, a friend of mine pointed me in the direction of the Sedu, which also had excellent reviews, and lots of them! The Sedu has been a good choice for me. I have had it for over four years now and it still works as well as it did on day one, so it has longevity, which is essential. I'm no stylist myself, so I value the fact that it's really easy to use and fast, too. I only have to iron each strand once or twice (very slowly) to get it pin straight, and I'm able to do a good-sized chunk of hair at a time. I don't have an hour or more to spend on my hair. I have a busy lifestyle and only use the Sedu occasionally, but its slim design makes it really easy to store and keep on hand, even in my really small house. I hope to use the Sedu for many years to come and will bust it out on those occasions when I need or want beautiful straight hair.

Great Iron for a great price
I made the mistake of ordering it on ebay, it broke after 3 months, and because ebay was not one of the authorized resellers therefore had no warranty. But if I was sure it was an excellent iron, for this reason I ordered it from Folica via Amazon. I love it! leaves my hair ultra smooth and extremely shiny. I go the gym everyday at noon and go right back to work afterwards, and this iron has proven to not burn my hair with everyday use. It is light weight, with adjustable temperatures and perfect for my long hair, which is very dry and kinda frizzy. A friend of mine was using a different brand, which was good, but she had been thinking about buying a wider one of the same brand. I let her try mine and he loved it! she order it the next day. I really recommend it with my eyes closed.

This is the REAL DEAL. Works REALLY WELL
Sure, 120 dollars is a WHOLE lot of money for a flat iron, but I took the plunge like a few other people because I was tired of the frizzy mess I got after blow drying my very wavy hair. All my life I wanted to be able to have sleek, pin straight, glossy/shiny hair. I was never able to quite achieve that with my blow dryer or drug store anti-frizz serum. Well look no further you guys! This flat iron really, really works...and works well!! Even if you have really curly thick hair, using the iron will give you a straight, super soft mane as if you just walked out of the salon. I really think after 5 or 6 uses, this iron pays for itself because let me tell you, you will h ave it for many, many years. Its one of the those beauty products you discover and you cant stop talking about it because finally something worked for you! I felt the same way. I am really glad I took the risk and bought it. Its a great, light weight, good looking flat iron that gets hot enough to take care of the coarset hair without damaging it. My hair looks healthier then it ever has in yeaaaaars. And it doesnt take a long time to do! One or 2 swipes and your done:) I have never written a review before for Amazon, so you can see I had to be really excited to take the time out. I hope this helps you guys :) - D.K.F, Long Island, New York

New push button not a good idea
ok so this would have been my 3rd Sedu. This iron is amazing and I have been using it for years. I returned it because the new one has a push button to turn it on and off. My old one has a little switch that goes up and down. As you try to iron your hair the push button goes off and of course the iron shuts off as well. Very annoying. So this is the reason I returned it. No other reason. Very disappointing since I do love this flat iron. It does an amazing job and doesn't damage your hair. P.S. my other two are still working.

Sedu trumps Babyliss
Love the Sedu. I purchased my first 1 inch Sedu a couple of years ago and it shorted out after maybe 2 years of use. This one is the same, older version as that one but a 1.5 inch. I opted for the older version in lieu of the newer one because I liked my 1 inch so much. I wish they still carried this version in the 1 inch. I purchased this Sedu and the Babyliss Pro at the same time. The Babyliss feels amazing - great, sleek design with a good handle and smooth feel. The plates on the Babyliss are long compared to the shorter Sedu. The Sedu doesn't have the sleek design or ease of handle BUT it straightens like a dream. They both get very hot, the Babyliss maybe even more so...but the Sedu just seems to curl the hair better and straighten without heat damage like the Babyliss. My hair looks super smooth and shiny after a Sedu pass...but somewhat fried after a Babyliss pass. Get this one.
