Dead printer after just over 1 year of use
Just a little after 12 months the printer is dead. Code "134 LED" error is either the motherboard or LED printhead. Out of warranty cost is $252 for them just to look at but you have to ship it back to them at your cost. It costs new $250 on Amazon, so since it's out of warranty, it's now a 30 lb. paperweight. Even when working the print quality was just okay. The print drivers were also nothing to write home about (difficult to install and limited options/features). Also the drum unit seems to wear out quickly.Would not buy again.

Oki B431DN - Great Printer!
I have had this Oki printer for about a month now, and it has exceeded my expectations. I had a $300 color printer before (another brand, not going back there), and decided that I really didn't use or need color that much...if I did, I'd go for a higher-end professional model of some sort. Color adds complexity, size, and expense. My needs are for business Enter the Oki.This printer is fast. From a dead start, I can't even walk over to the printer before it starts shooting out print jobs. Print quality is excellent. For business needs, it's all you could ever want. It hooks up to the network painlessly, very smooth in that regard (btw, beware of sites which advertise this as a wireless printer....it isn't). Do yourself a favor and hardwire yourself to the router...if you study the market, you'll see you can get a better value that way than spending money on wireless (unless your REALLY need it). This printer meets my needs and more and exceeds my expectations, at a reasonable price. What more could I ask?

For tech savvy users only
If you're running 64-bit Windows 7 or later, chances are you're going to have a difficult time installing this printer. I don't have a computer science degree, but I can normally figure out most problems without resorting to tech support. With the help of some forum advice I figured this one out. It took about two hours in total, including several downloads and abortive installation deletions. First of all the installation CD was useless. The installation software refused to fully load, so the buttons had no names, the radio buttons had no names, and I couldn't see the dialog boxes. I tried manual driver installation, but the drivers were incompatible. Each time, I deleted the previous installation files. Then I went to the clunky Oki Data website. This provides vaguely-named driver update files that state they are compatible with Windows 7, but the Windows Compatibility Tester says XP SP2. Maybe that's why the archive extractors for these files wouldn't work. Finally I was able to extract the driver files using an old laptop, and access the .inf file through my local network. Finally I got the printer working. So far it seems to work very well, delivering high quality print-outs at a rapid rate. I love the auto-duplexing at this price, and if it stays good I might bump it up to a four-star sometime in the future. But probably not. Here's the thing: A lot of people I know wouldn't have been able to get this printer working on their computer. It doesn't matter how well the thing works, if installation is too much hassle, it's not worth the money and the effort.

great printer!
I like this printer. It always works, no clogging jams. When not used a lot, the wheels do make some noise. The plastic paper tray could be made a little more sturdy. But great print and constant!

Update
I bought three, and after 20,000-30,000 pages, two out of the three were completely out of business. We also threw away over $1,000 image drums and toner cartridges. After this incident, I promised myself that I would not buy: (1) a relatively cheaper printer with speed and features; (2) a system that requires separate toner and drum. They need to make money somewhere. An inexpensive, fast machine is built with filmsy plastics. They also make money on the consumables. The printer uses a computer chip to register a specific toner and a specific drum, and this is not disclosed anywhere. It is a good theory to buy multiple units of the same model and swap the consumers if one runs out but not the other (the toner has 10,000 and the drum has 15,000 - they do not run out the same time so you will continue to buy the consumers - the toner runs out but not the drum, you will then buy a new drum; then the drum runs out but not the toner, you will buy the drum ... it is a vicious cycle.). Unfortunately, once you install the drum or toner, you cannot move it to a different printer. When there is an error such as drum runs out, you cannot test it without buying and using a new drum. You will need to buy a new drum or toner then find out the issue is not the drum or toner. Then this is double jeopardy: you cannot use the consumables on any other printer. You end out throwing the brand new consumables away. THE CONSUMABLES ARE NOT CHEAP.

Excellent printer and fast
I needed a fast and economical black/white/greyscale printer for home/college use and went for this OKI. I've had it for around 2 years now and still haven't had to change the toner cartridge. It does a great job with letters, papers, and graphics. It warms up fast and prints quickly. Advanced power options save electricity and it has an easy to follow LCD menu screen. I have no complaints with the machine. I did have a bit of confusion downloading the latest driver for it from OKI's website. Once I was sure it was the right one the printer is pretty much flawless.Great basic laser printer.

Terrible quality, DO NOT BUY
I purchased this printer one year ago and it worked fine for the first 6 months. For the last 6 months I have lived with terrible quality printing. Lines are present where they should not be, print is missing and the entire page has a light gray haze over it. It appear to need a new drum. Checking the printer usage menu it says the printer has 50% drum life remaining and that I have printed 12,758 pages. This is unacceptable. I had a HP 4100 printer for 20 years and never had problems like this.DO NOT BUY.
