Basic scan tool
The check engine light was on for my 1999 Honda Civic LX. It had roughly 181K miles. This tool does not require any batteries because it uses your vehicle battery once you turn the key in the ignition. it then scans your car for a few minutes. It will give you codes for any problems. These codes can be looked up online to locate where the problems are. In my case, the tool completed the scan and showed that there were not any problems. I scanned again with the same result. After disconnecting the tool and turning on the ignition, the check engine light was off. It reset the engine light somehow. There are more expensive tools of better quality, but this works fine for basic scans on older vehicles.

Inexpensive and simple to use but limited in diagnosis.
I did not get a storage bag, guess that was supposed to be included. You also must download 15 or 16 pages of detailed instructions if you want to use this. For more features you must move up to $80 or $100 models. Made in Red China.

Working good less money out of pocket!
The Autel MaxiScan MS300 OBD2 (I bought less than $20 USD) is working good and car owners should have it to test the car and solve the problems to be sure it pass the California Smoke Check before bring it to the Star Smoke Check Station!

Easy to use
Just read the instructions. Super easy to use. Added a little research on top of the codes I was able to diagnose my friend's engine lights as a leaky gas cap. After we fixed the issue we kept track of the time it took for the codes to "fall off" and once they did the car sold for $3000 more than was offered with the check engine codes lit up.Not bad for $30 bucks.
