No recommendations and told me I would have to try another tech division which would cost me. I do not recommend purchasing this machine. I liked it because it was small and would have been the perfect fit for my bedroom. Total waste of money!

but it's pretty lame
I would stay away from this device if you are thinking of buying it to play foreign DVD's and you want to plug it into your TV using an HDMI cable. I am using a modern Samsung TV. (2015 model) The only way I could get the player to work was by using an RCA cable. They're the Yellow/Red/White kind we needed to use back in the 80's and 90's. The player has an HDMI port, and maybe it's user error on my part. BUT... I could not get it to function through HDMI. I was receiving an error saying the "Resolution is not supported" I changed the resolution to 720 from 1080 and it still didn't work...The device supposedly has "auto detect" but in the long run the only way I was able to get it to work was by RCA plugs. Bottom line...it works, but it's pretty lame

DVD p!ayer will play Pal DVDs..
Okay, I tried playing a DVD I bought from Thailand in my old DVD player! It is a standard DVD player. It only plays region 1, region all or region 0 DVDs. It wouldn't play the Thai DVD. Says disc error.. So, just by some odd chance I happened to try it on this Philips DVD player! It played.. I also contacted customer service at Philips and they told me it will play Pal DVDs.. So, if anyone reading this is looking for a region free DVD player that's at a pretty reasonable price.. You've found it! Amazon doesn't have this DVD player listed as a DVD player that will play non US format DVD's but, it does! 😎
