Work well for the money but dont expect to be blown away! :-)
For the price I was pleasantly surprised! Obviously the sound isint going to blow you away but the highs are good. Worked well as a replacement for my crappy Little Guy T@G Camper stock speakers which were terrible!

Finally got around to installing them...
Purchased these way back in December 2011, and finally got around to installing them in the dash of my 1998 Dodge Grand Caravan last night. These replaced the OEM speakers, which were long dead. Only the rear speakers worked since I "inherited" the van from my wife 2 1/2 years ago. It's a beater, 15 years old and has over 250K miles, and at that age you just accept some things are going to quit working, and accept it. Except I love music, and I spend way too much time driving to and from work on my 30-mile commute to suffer through the poor tonality of rear speakers that I have to crank up loud to hear way up in the driver's area of the cabin. That, and I had installed a new head unit that has Bluetooth, but the Bluetooth didn't work because the voice of the other caller is piped through the front speakers...which means they could hear me, but I could not hear them due to my dead front speakers. Well, these speakers were quite inexpensive, and the reviews were pretty good despite the low price. So I bought them. But after receiving them, the trepidation of actually pulling out the dash to install them caused me to throw them in the floorboard, still boxed up, where they slid around until the box was frayed. Flash forward to this week, when I decided I would finally try my hand at installing them. After watching a youtube video demonstrating how to remove the dash, I finally got brave enough to tackle the job. It actually went pretty smoothly, the biggest problem being the really short length of the existing speaker wire I had to cut the adapter off of and strip and splice the speaker onto (I just cut the speaker wire that came with the speakers off about 15 inches behind the prong that slips onto the terminals and spliced it to the existing speaker wire). Well, I've had a day with them so far. The sound is very bright, bordering on shrill, so you will want to take the edge off the higher frequencies if you can by using your equalizer (or presets) to make some adjustments. Very accurate in the upper range in terms of fidelity. Not much bass to speak of. Unlike others, I didn't experience any distortion when I cranked up the head unit, which is rated at 4 X 50 watts, to its upper limits. But really, how can I complain? For around $15, these are all that I needed to get some music back in the front of my cabin, they work and sound just fine, so it's money well spent. I didn't expect $15 speakers to sound like they cost $200, but I would say these sound way better than what you should expect from $15 speakers.

They work with modifications.
I got these Pyle PL53BL 5.25-Inch 200-Watt Three-Way Speakers (Pair) for a 1989 Jeep Cherokee Laredo. See 20120430 update at the end! The 5.25 size and mounting holes are about the only dimensions that fits the original mounting exactly. The center mid-range and tweeter speakers stick out almost an inch meaning you must use the grills that come with the speakers instead of the flush mount dust cover & grill that comes with the Jeep. The carpeted inner side panel and backing to which the carpeting is mounted had to be cut away so that the outer part of the main "woofer" didn't hit it. You must cut carefully leaving as much as you can so you can mount the plastic ring to the carpeting/backing. The ring holds the mesh/grill both which now stick out 1/2 to 3/4 inch into the cabin. If you cut enough away so the plastic ring fits on the inner edge of the carpet/backing you can maybe use the screws provided to hold it all together to the inner door (metal) frame where the original speaker was mounted. You may have to figure out something to keep the carbet/backing from vibrating/rattling with the resonant frequencies of what you're playing, from bumps in the road, and opening/closing the door. I mounted the ring separately to the carpet/backing and ended up drilling holes in the door's inner metal frame to screw the ring, carpet and baking to the door to keep it snugly in place. (Could rust, but hey, it's an '89 with a lot of rust already.) As far as the sound... about as loud as the original speakers and about as clear. (Certainly much better than the one speaker where the base cone was no longer attached ANYWHERE to the outer frame!) I was hoping they'd be much louder and sharper. They'd likely be louder with the factory radio/cassette player which was replaced by a JVC with CD and MP3 input. If you're looking for an easy direct fit replacement, consider a few hours to fit the first one and maybe an hour after for the rest. Sound not much better than original speakers, but for the price and my time, they're acceptable. (I got 2 pair, two front & two rear (hatch door).) ********* 20120430 UPDATE: I found out these are louder than what I thought. The issue was the new Radio/CD/audio-in deck had a setting for Hi/Low. You pick Low if your speakers can't handle the units 50W per channel out, and my son had set it to low, or it came pre-programmed to low. I set it to Hi and now I can get real loud. I therefore change my review from 3 to 4 stars as the speakers sound as good as the factory speakers. If they were flush with the door I'd give them 5 of 5 stars as installation would be much easier.

Best Boom for your Buck
These Speakers sound pretty dang good for the price paid for them. I used to work in car audio install, and swore by Polk audio for the most part, but bought a beater car and wanted to at least have something in it, so I got these and a used Pioneer deck, and wow I was extremely surprised at the quality! The speakers themselves are built well, and are made of the same types of materials seen in the higher end speakers. The look and feel great, and most importantly they sound great. They have a very good low range, and high range, sadly the mid range is lacking a bit, but certainly not more than i expected. I also bought a set of 5x7 oval, for the back seat, which sounded even better than these, as i expected. (Bigger is often better, in car audio) The cons: The speakers are pretty bulky, and the mid and tweeter stick out much farther than on any other speakers Iโve seen, also the protectors they came with were also very bulky and unattractive, so because of these 2 things I had to make some minor alterations to my vehicle so that they would fit, had the speaker guards been more attractive, I would have just mounted them with a spacer and used the guards instead of the OEM covers. An addition the speakers sticking out a lot they are also much wider than the holes cut for them, as other speakers I tried fit in the holes just fine, but with these I had to shave some plastic off, set them in slightly angled, and snip off several of the screw supports on the speakers. The cons did not effect my rating because of how ridiculously cheap these speakers were, and how great they actually sound, another bonus was that they came with speaker wire, and template to cut holes bugger (likely because they know that they take up more space than they are supposed to.

Surprisingly good speaker for the money
I bought the Pyle PL53BL speakers to replace the factory rear seat side panel speakers in my 97 Dodge 2500 Club Cab. I bought these before removing the original speakers, as all the speaker fitment guides here and elsewhere indicated these were a fit. They did fit but weren't an exact fit as the original speakers were closer to a 5.75" or possibly 6" size. The two speaker mounting points in the truck's metal were spaced just close enough to enable me to get mounting screws in the slots in the Pyle speaker frames, so they did mount OK. However, due to the smaller diameter there was a sizable air gap (about 1.8" or so) between the speaker and hole in the truck's metal. I closed off this gap using some putty-like weather rope seal from a big box home improvement store. I'm running these speakers on an older Alpine CDA-9856 head unit and Alpine 3566 6-channel amp (conservatively rated 35W RMS x4 and 120W RMS for bridged sub channel into 4 Ohms). Following advice from several reviewers and professional installers, I bought a roll of sound dampening material to apply to the door panels and elsewhere. I bought roof repair material - Tape and Seal is one brand - which is very similar to another very high priced product and it worked quite well. Once this was done and the speakers were mounted and connected to the amp, I turned it on for the first time. After the initial checkup to make sure all speakers were working, I cranked up the volume to a pleasantly loud level and was very surprised and pleased to hear the quality of sound coming from these inexpensive speakers. Being 5.25" bass drivers they understandably don't produce much bass output but the midrange and highs are much smoother and detailed than I was expecting. I paired these up with a pair of Pyle Driver PLDV6K 6.5" 2-way component speakers in the front doors and I'm very pleased with how nicely these compliment them. They're well matched regarding their efficiency, producing very near the same volume level and similar sound quality. While not quite as smooth and clear as the fronts, they do a splendid job of providing clean sounding music to fill the rear seat area and filling the back of the cab. They're SO much better than the original factory speakers. So, long story short, I HIGHLY recommend these for anyone looking for a very reasonably priced, smaller coax system and wants surprisingly accurate, smooth and detailed sound quality and listens to their music at reasonably loud levels. I would definitely buy these again and recommend these to others. UPDATE: After about 2 years these speakers have basically "given up the ghost" and for the most part are now inoperable. I had hoped they would be able to handle the clean power of my Alpine amp, especially since they weren't getting all the bass signal they would in a full range system, but alas they didn't. They are now working intermittently, with audio "popping on and off" as the speakers' litz wire (the flexible wire between the frame and cone) apparently makes and breaks continuity. I still liked the sound quality they produced when they worked well earlier, I'm just now believing they aren't made to handle even the 35+ watts RMS/channel my amp can produce. The front Pyle Driver PLDV6K 6.5" 2-way component speakers on the other hand are still performing well, which is why I believe it's just a simple matter of inadequate power handling ability that has caused these speakers to die off. In a lesser powered system they may work better and longer.

Decent Sound + Low Price + Prime Ship = BIG VALUE!!!
To begin with let me say I am very picky about my audio components. I will not abide inferior sound reproduction or distortion. Weak highs that are not crisp and muddy bass reproduction are my two most common complaints with inexpensive audio components. These speakers perform OK in that regard. I just installed a pair of these in my boat. There is no point in going crazy on speakers for a boat cockpit: They simply don't last in the harsh marine environment, but I do value good sound quality. I did not expect these to be the absolute tops in sound reproduction, but I was pleasantly surprised at how adequately they perform. As you might expect they are mid-range biased if the equalizer is neutral. Pushing up the bass and treble a bit results in perfectly acceptable sound quality for listening to typical radio music programs like Country , Rock, etc. At moderate volume the highs are crisp and decently bright. Bass is clear and not muddy, but it won't rattle your windows. If you are after street-thumping bass these won't do it, but neither will most 5" speakers. However, if you are listening to most broadcast music the way the artists intended you to hear it they are fine. The audio stage is remarkably good for such inexpensive speakers! The speakers come with the mounting hardware you need and they look nice installed. You get a plain looking round black grille and bezel with a small plastic "PYLE" logo on it, which isn't intrusive by way of size or bright color. You will see a bit of the silver colored triax speaker layout through the grille, and perhaps a peek of the blue bass speaker cone (Is it mylar? It's some sort of plastic, not paper...); a classy look that will work fit into almost any situation. I'm going to buy another pair for inventory so that I have them when the set I just installed need to be replaced, Overall I'm plenty pleased.

Good soรนnd for the money
Installed 4 in my ultra classic harley with stock stereo. Improved the sound 100% no bass but its only a 4.5" speaker. Good value for the money. Been a few months now and sound keeps getting better. Installed a 8"sub in my tourpack with kenwood monoblock amp. Sound is amazing for a motorcycle.

DO NOT BUY! NO INSTRUCTIONS. No way to install grill after speaker installed, unless you glue.
Well, these are some pretty speakers but there is no way to mount the grill after the speaker is mounted, unless you use some glue. Note that if the speaker is lined up with the holes in the grill (first pic); the front of the grill does not line up with the pretty insides. Very crass. Note that there are no holes in the grill, and the grill sets on the speaker loosely, so how the hell do you install the grill? Someone has asked these questions but the answers are as incredibly stupid as "you mount the grill after you install the speaker." HOW do you mount the $%%Z^& grill? No instructions beyond a template for making the holes. Since I am replacing my speakers, that is useless. The mounting hardware, per hole, is pictured in the last photo. I have installed it to see if I can 'push' the grill in place but all it does is block it. No video. No instructions.
