Nice and portable. Brushes retract so they do not get damaged while traveling

Great Cajon Brushes!
Great brushes for my "bass" cajon!! I use one of these brushes often, when performing with my cajon! The plastic bristles make a much better sound on the wooden cajon, than the old fashioned metal brushes, and they slide into the handle, which makes carrying them around for gigs. . . . . perfect!

nice, well made. Nylon works well for my cajon
I got this based on reading the review of others. This not the cheapest, nor is it priced among the top tier brushes for professional percussionists. That suits me as someone who just noodles around with a cajon. It works and appears well made. I got it to use on my cajon which probably would be damaged by wire brushes. It also worked well on the man-made "head" on my banjo. I need to fashion a cushioned or leather carry bag to protect them when not in use. The handles are a tough plastic, but it could be crushed is stepped on or something heavy is unintentionally placed on top of it.

Decent brushes
They’re durable and I like them, but they just don’t sound as good to my ears as the metal brushes.

Perfect Compliment for Cajun Variety
These are perfect for shuffle type percussion on the Meinl Cajon. They are lightweight, well balanced, and appear well made. They sound perfect with the Cajon, especially for soft rhythmic beats, and are a nice compliment to using the Cajon hands only. I found that having the adjustable length of the brushes allows for a nice change of sound, including a deepening sound, or even a 'beat' with stick only, especially when targeting the bass section of the Cajon. These bring a nice variety of sound to the Cajun and make a versatile instrument (Cajon) even more versatile, and allow for a pleasant "shuffle" pace sound that goes so nicely with Americana, folk, and country blues music. If you like the "unplugged sound", a la Clapton, these sounds really nice with the Meinl Cajon.

Okay, but not as good as standard cajon brushes.
This is a good quality product overall, but after trying them for one session, I personally like Meinl’s standard cajon brushes better. The standard brushes are thicker and fuller, while these retractable brushes are thinner and flatter. The metal casing on the retractable version makes it a little risky to play the cajon without damaging the surface, and with less volume in the brush, it makes the sound a lot thinner. These retractable versions also takes away the integrity of the true cajon sound, in my opinion. Meinl’s standard cajon brushes do a better job with creating a fuller, more versatile playing experience.

The are robust and easy to store
I bought these drum sticks to use with a cahon, and they are ideal. The ability to change the length of the brushes allows a variety of sounds to be produced. The are robust and easy to store, and the plastic bristles are soft but hardy . My only tiny negative observation is that the round handles can turn in the fingers whilst playing but, once aware of that, it is easily overcome. However, oblong or square handle profile might be better. Despite that, still delighted with them and the range of effects they allow me to produce.
