Apple AirPods with Wireless Charging Case

Yes these are expensive - Let’s get that over with.However, convenience and ease of use outweigh the price considerations. I can’t believe I waited so long before buying a pair.Since lockdown I’ve been using my wired headphone to make/receive calls leaving me hands free but the wires were always in the way or tangled. Not any more - It’s a revelation !!Obviously I also use it for music and films and again being wire free is so convenient.I don’t use “Hey Siri” but the double tap tomove to the next song is useful.Sound quality - it’s perfectly acceptable and commensurate with the wires EarPods.Microphone - considering the microphone is located by you ear it’s fine. It can sound a little echoey to the other party and pick up extraneous background noise but again perfectly acceptable.Comfort - i chose not to buy the Pro version of these as I can’t get on with the rubber grommets and find those uncomfortable. These on the other hand just sit naturally in the ear and feel comfortable. They’ve not fallen out yet, but I haven’t run in them.Pairing - “They just work” to coin a phrase. I have paired them with more than one device so do find they connect to the “other one” (i.e last used) sometimes but it’s no hardship to click connect and then they work consistently.They also connect to my Windows 10 PC.Wired v Wireless charging - I bought the wireless charging version simply because I will be purchasing a mat to get rid of the plethora of wires that I have lying around for my various devices.However, I’ve been charging using a wire for the time being as that’s just as convenient.Buy the wired version and save £30 if you undecided. Charging is quick and only has to be done infrequently.Battery life - I never listen to anything for more than a few hours (eg a film) so whenever they are out of the ear they are charging in the case and always ready for use.I’m happy with my purchase and wish I’d done it earlier.

Most importantly they produce great sound.The one thing that concerned me before I used them was, they could drop out of my ear and I would lose one while out, down a drain or something! But they really do fit comfortably and securely.They connect to your iPhone or iPad in seconds by simply holding them next to the device and lifting the lid.They also connect to other Bluetooth devices, the newer the device the easier. This is slightly different, you open the lid and press the button on the rear of the AirPod case until it flashes white, this makes it visible on the device’s Bluetooth screen, where you can then press connect.You get a readout on your connected Apple device of the current charge status of each individual pod and the case.The case holds additional charge to start recharging the pods, even when it is not connected to a power source.A charge goes 4/5 hours, with the case apparently carrying 24 hours of charge, I have not had to test the latter fully.When the case is opened a light comes on. It is green to indicate that the case has plenty of charge, it is orange when it has less than one full charge left.The case and pods are charged by a lightning connector on its base, a lead is included in the box, they can also be charged wirelessly by a QI charger.Individual pods can be set up to have a ‘double tap’ function, I have my left one to call Siri and the right to pause/play. I have spent many years searching for the perfect headphone. I have come close a few times and been relatively contented by the manufacturers offerings ( on a reasonable budget) I’m really sensitive to scratchy sounding headphones, I listen to Rock music and it must be played loud. (It’s the law) My 75 year old neighbours that complain about poor hearing are miraculously cured whenever I put music on. (Bless them but they do like to complain) so I continued my search for something I could listen without causing “alarm and distress” (slight over reaction if you ask me) I have pondered often about these headphones, I do like Apple but never really took to the headphones that were supplied with the phone. I painstakingly went through reviews and started to notice people were saying the sound quality was good. I had a long talk with myself about cost and what if I don’t like them..... I am so glad the throw caution to the wind side won. I really am happy with them, I have no idea what they are like to run in as I’m far too lazy for that. I am enjoying the calming sounds of Slipknot without causing alarm or what ever it was she said ( she was sweating and shaking at the time) I am also really impressed with them with all phone calls I’m having and zooming rooms or what ever it’s called. I don’t have any echo with them and having asked people lucky enough to be on my call list they aren’t aware I’m wearing headphones. I have been able to chat for a few hours whilst gardening and my boss is completely unaware.So to summarise, I would recommend them and I’m glad I bought them. Are they the perfect headphone? I’m not sure, I would like longer battery time and would like not to have so many calls to make so I can just listen to music.

I love these. I've had them a few years now and they're still working as well as they did when I first bought them. An absolutely fabulous bit of kit and definitely as good, if not better, that a certain giant retailer's pods. I would highly recommend.
