Anyone that says this has no suction needs a saliva test...
Better than Dyson suction and cleaning...yes, for the pansies out there it is more difficult to move around at full suction but it does a great job cleaning...think aerobics so you get some exercise... the variable suction is a plus on area rugs...yes, it doesn't go under furniture as easily as my last Shark but I don't care...this was like a rototiller on my piece of crap contractors grade carpet. This is actually way better in terms of suction/cleaning than my last shark with the smooth roller in front...the small holes behind it constantly got clogged impairing its performance even after one use and I consider that to be a design defect. I'm not going to nit-pick about some strings, etc. being caught up in the mechanism but this design stays FAR cleaner than my other sharks (and other vacuums I've had over the years). It may not be perfect for some and of course longevity may an issue for another time. I'm suspicious of people never changing/washing their filters and then complaining when the machine breaks down. I've seen people not changing their house filters for years and then complaining that their furnaces didn't work. This thing is so efficient in my mind that the filters should be washed/changed more often. BTW, I never cheap it out by not buying extra filters when I buy a new vac. Those are a necessity for any vac purchase. I'm very satisfied. Way more than I thought I would be. Edit: this unit is by far the easiest to clean. After dumping the debris from the container I ran it under the sink and it looks band new- no nooks and crannies that are difficult to reach and clean including the plastic filter. IMO this should be done every time after using the vac. This thing even picks up a certain level of dust my other vacs never did. If this died I would replace it with exactly the same vac if it was still offered.

Overall I’m happy with the vacuum
Update: I’ve had this vacuum 2 years now and I still love it. Since my review, I haven’t had to clean the roller of my hair. I’m used to checking/cleaning old vacuums right after vacuuming my bathroom as that’s when the hair really collects. Once I stopped checking and continue using it, it self cleaned fully. After these 2 years, I can now vacuum up to my stair landing (half way up) with the wand. The tube has slowly relaxed in its tightness and the vacuum doesn’t fall over any more. I haven’t noticed any reduction in suction. I’m still happy I purchased this vacuum. I’ve had the vacuum 2 months now. I have long hair, 2 LARGE dog and 3 cats. A few things are important to me in a vacuum. Ease of cleaning the roller of my long hair. I was excited about the self cleaning rollers. Over all, the majority of the roller gets clean. It has not been able to clean the center part of the roller (see photo). However, cleaning this small part is 100% easier then my past vacuums. Container Capacity. I was very impressed with the amount of times I didn’t have to empty the containers. It holds a lot more than the Dyson animal I had. Clean the first time. The suction and cleaning of the vacuum works well. There’s no need to go over the area again, and again as I’ve had to do with vacuums in the past. This is comparable to my Dyson vacuum. The main downside to this vacuum is that it’s top heavy. When using the hand wand, I cannot go far (maybe 2 steps) with out it falling over. I cannot do my stairs with out taking it with me and holding it just incase or having someone hold it for me. When vacuuming the edges of my tile floor, I have to hold onto it as I move since I can’t go more than a step anyways without it falling over. Over all, I am happy with the performance of this vacuum. The issues with this unit being top heavy allows me to use my cordless vacuum for the stairs (which is why I got it) and tile edges. If you are looking for a unit that you will use the handheld wand a lot, this top heavy issue may be something to consider when looking at this unit.

Best vacuum I've ever had
I've always had eureka vacuums in the past but all my friends recommended a shark (Dyson was out of my price renge). And let me tell ya, I'm so glad I got this. I usually have to get a new vacuum every 5 years because I use it 3x a week and have 2 cats. My old one just wasn't sucking up anything anymore and there was a leak in the seal around the canister, so it was time to splurge. This shark has a large canister and holds a ton compared to my old vacuums. The first time I used it, I had to empty it 3x because it sucked up so much cat hair on my carpets. About a month or 2 later, it still has great suction power and sucks up cat fur so well. I fill a canister from the whole house at once. It even works on the linoleum in the kitchen. (My eureka just shot dirt and fur all over the kitchen and didn't suck anything up.) So, I give this shark a 5 star review. Hands down the best vacuum I've ever owned. Only downfall is that the cord is like 6ft too short to reach the whole house from 1 outlet. So I added a 10ft extension cord to it and it now reaches the whole house. It twists and maneuvers really well around furniture and under the edge of the beds. I love it!

Well-designed, cleans well, loud, heavy, and hard to push.
Pros: * Well-designed, pieces snap together with a satisfying click and utilize a button-release mechanism. Components disassemble/assemble in an intuitive way. The only friction fit is on the two included accessories, and they work well also. * Strong suction. * Filters are effective -- no dusty emitted into room. * Dirt cups (upper for large objects, lower for dust) are easily emptied. * Cleans very well on carpet or hard floors. * Brush roller has 2 speeds (carpet / hard floor) and automatically stops when the vacuum handle is locked in the upright position so it doesn't wear a hole in your carpet when you stop to use the attachments. * The swivel action improves maneuverability. Cons: * Fairly loud. * Heavy (16 pounds). * Very hard to push and swivel-steer on medium-pile carpet. Feels like pushing a shovel through mud. The suction control helps a somewhat, but even in the fully open position (resulting in dramatically reduced suction) the vacuum remains hard to push. I think a height adjustment would have been helpful. I would not recommend this vacuum for anyone with limited arm strength. * The hose is not as stretchable as the pictures suggest. Extending it more than four or five feet drags or topples the vacuum and risks damage to the hose. * No strain relief where the power cord exists the vacuum body -- a likely point of failure. * Lacks premium features like a headlight and auto-cord-rewind. * At 960 Watts, it's a mini space-heater! All in all, I'm satisfied with this purchase and would recommend to anyone who enjoys a workout while they vacuum.

4 year review!!! Excellent still
After 4 years this vacuum still works like new. Very strong and light weight as well. This vacuum gets used almost daily for cat litter/hair and does a amazing job. It usually picks up said litter in 1 pass and has all of the attachments to clean other things like the couch and cat tree. It doesn't take up much space and has been a great value for the money I paid. Pro tip: Take out the filters (white sponges) and wash them in the sink with a little dish soap and light rubbing every now and then. I have never replaced them in 4 years as they are still looking good.

My favorite vacuum! Better than Dyson!!
I am very impressed with this vacuum. I was always a Dyson vacuum person, but this one changed me over to shark. It is very easy to use and very portable. I love the design. It’s easy to change the filters and empty the compartments. It surpasses the Dyson in suction and durability. I have a lot of kids and use this a couple times a day. It is so dependable. I am very pleased with this shark vacuum. It is very heavy used.

So glad I bought this!
I had been wanting to good vacuum for a few years and never did it, never did it. FINALLY, I researched different ones and asked friends and family what they had, and most people had a Shark. I picked this one, based on reviews and looks. I am so happy with it. As soon as I saw it on my porch, I set it up, which was SO easy to do, I didn't even look at the instructions.I used it over my whole house and it picked up SO MUCH DIRT. More than my other vacuum ever did (cough cough Bissel...). The main things I like about this vacuum are, it isn't super loud at all. I used it while my toddler napped. It rolls and maneuvers really easily. I love that you can control the suction, as I have a thicker rug in my living room and it allows me to vacuum it with ease AND still getting it cleaner and fluffing it back up to looking brand new. I like how easy it is to use, along with the hose. Its a longer, solid piece so you don't have to bend over so much to clean the edges and corners of your home. It is also lightweight (to me, compared to my Bissel i was using). I'm overall very happy with this vacuum. ONLY complaint is I wish the cord was a bit longer. My Bissel did have a longer cord for sure, but this is not a major thing to me. BUY THIS and you will love seeing how much dirt and dust it gets off your floors and furniture. Very worth it.

3 long haired pets and one clean home later….
I had a model similar to this years ago (around 2018) and it lasted me until earlier this year. I loved it and worked great. I ended up trying a Bissel but that ended up crapping out on me within months. I then found this one, similar to an old one I had, and decided to try it out. I’m so glad I did. The bin holds a lot so I don’t have to constantly empty it out multiple times as I vacuum my home. It’s easy to transport around and use. I can easily wrap it up and put it in my closet. Some people have complained that it’s too light but I don’t think so. I think it’s perfect. Besides, how heavy do you want it to be? I have a border collie and 2 long haired cats. So I don’t care if it’s “light” as long as it picks up hair. And it does. Don’t hesitate or waste time with another brand. This is the way to go.

Best vacuum ever, I had a Dyson before this!
I recently lost my Dyson in a separation , I needed a vacuum right away because I have hairy dogs. The stuff that came out of my living room rug was disgusting and amazing. Obviously my last vacuum was not doing the trick. Only downside is that it is heavy to use on stairs. Love that it is good for carpet and wood floors with the touch of a switch.
