I've followed Lisa on social media for a couple of years and her easy to follow tutorials and enormous enthusiasm for make up have given me the confidence to try new products and use make up and skincare to feel a million dollars. What I love about this book is you don't have to overhaul your make up bags with 100s of expensive products to get the looks. Lisa has so many tips and tricks, you can adapt existing products and build technique without having to be an expert. The looks are super easy to follow and I love that she's added tricks for covering things like pigmentation and dark circles ... AND a great section for glasses wearers! There's something for everyone in this book and I really couldn't recommend it more. In fact, I've just bought a second copy for my mum in law because there's a ton of great advice for "slightly older ladies" too. Great job, Lisa!

Today I received The Make Up Manual by Lisa Potted Dixon and wow it was worth the wait!!! I have been following Lisa's hints and tips for a few years now and religiously watch her YouTube videos every Friday. I can honestly say that Lisa's personality from her videos translates into her books. Reading this new book I feel that Lisa is reading the pages to me just like her videos! Right onto the book! Lisa takes you through each stage of make up from the basics of skin care to more complex make up techniques. I love how Lisa breaks down each section so that you know what to look for and different techniques for skin type, colour etc. I especially like the section on how to apply eye make up to your eye shape. As with Lisa's first book Easy On The Eyes once you practice the looks a few times I can do them in 5 or 10 minutes. I work part time and have two young children and the tips Lisa gives in her books have really helped me get my make up looking fantastic. I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves make up and wants to try new looks or just want learn new techniques. Thank you again Lisa x

This is an awesome makeup manual. Beautiful pictures, clear step by step instructions, and really tells you how to “create” a made up face. I recommend finding a highly rated makeup artist (MUA) in your area (look for artists that work on commercials, advertisements, brides, etc. and has a portfolio of work online) and taking a makeup class with him/her. Working with a MUA who is independent and not working for a store or particular brand means that the MUA can tell you about their favorite products and recommend products that are long-lasting, effective, fits your skin type, is color matched for you, will hold up in humid weather (MUAs who work on brides during the summer know this challenge), etc. After that session, use this book to help reinforce what you learned and to remind you of tips and tricks. This is a great book for someone who wants to learn more about makeup without being overwhelmed with too much information. Makeup takes a lot of practice. I found that I had to learn how to “see” my face and see what is in front of me instead of what I want to see. Taking selfies from different angles can help give you an idea of what your makeup looks like. Keep practicing, ask questions, read this book, look on YouTube for specific makeup techniques, use a light/gentle hand, and use less rather than more.
