Eyewitness Visual Dictionaries: The Visual Dictionary of the Human Body Review: It's very educational - It's so great book for education I recommend ages 9-12 very good book . Except it might have inappropriate images for some readers. Review: One of the Best Books on Human Anatomy - This is the best simple, straight-forward human anatomy book out there. This books uses a combination of real images and realistic looking models to showcase the human body, and its various systems. The images are large and positioned front and center, which draws the interest and attention of children and adults alike. Although the book does show images of penises and vaginas, they are only shown in the context of human anatomy (the body, the urinary system, reproductive systems, and pregnancy) as is appropriate for a book on anatomy. There are no depictions or descriptions of sex, making this book appropriate for all ages. I loved this book as a child, and I bought one for my daughter so she can love it as well.

Great intro to anatomy for a young reader
My 7-year-old son is very inquisitive, so I bought this for him and he loves it. He has read it a few times over now. He enjoys teaching his father and me about things he has learned from the book. My favorite part of the book is that it uses technical terms for body parts which helps a child learn in a healthy and non-judgemental environment. My favorite is when he came to me with the book and had me explain how he fit in my uterus and how in the world did the doctors take him out with his big head. He was very serious and concerned that it had to of hurt me. A close second was when he came to me very seriously, and described in detail while pointing to the pictures, how gas occurred and what paths it could take to exit the body (which is a huge accomplishment for a 7 year-old boy) This book has started my son on a path of learning about all of the things that make little boys giggle and how somethings are natural and occur in everyone. It also has given him a starting place to ask questions and gain useful information about how to look at and treat his body in a positive manner.

Very informative
This book is chock full of information. However, I had to limit my rating to 4 stars for one reason. There is a diagram of the nervous system (same diagram is on 2 different pages) in which a nude female has the nerves diagram over her body. I believe they could have had some sort of coverage on the woman without compromising the integrity of the diagram. So, as a conservative mother with small children, I had to fix a Sharpie bikini for this lady due to lack of any clothing. There are white human figures in the book that look like plaster people, which are anatomically correct, as well as reproductive diagrams of both male and female. There is no mention of sex, but there is brief description of how babies develop in the womb. I find this book very educational, and will be using it for our anatomy lessons, but some parents may not find this book suitable for the very young reader.

Perfect for kids' curiosity from the outside to inside
I read the comment about this not being appropriate for kids, and my opinion is the opposite. I got this anatomy book so my boys would know where to go for an appropriate place when they are curious about their bodies and nudity. I feel we do a huge diservice to kids about curiosity of bodies and nudity when they're young, then we avoid the topic and just let them "discover" it on their own when they're older, usually through pornography. Not scientific or informative at all! I feel we need more exposure to it in a scientific and artistic setting, so they don't go looking online or hearing it from inappropriate sources. I say if nudity is shown in a respectful (usually artistic) or scientific way, then it's okay and should be appreciated. The nude woman under Nervous System has very faint nipples and the pubic area is barely shaded. I feel this is perfect for kids. There is also a blank, white 3D figure of a male and female front and back with minimal detail the first page after Contents. It goes over all the basic systems with some writing but mostly pictures, so again, perfect for younger kids who are very curious about everything about the body.

Great anatomy book for a beginner/ kids
The book has lovely visuals. It takes us into the subject in a good order starting with the organs, the skeleton, then the muscles and so on. It also has brief description for us to read about each organ and the systems at a high level. Both my 4 year old and 2 year old love it!

Very Informational and Beautiful Pictures
This book has very good pictures along with very good information. Great resource to have on hand. I teach preschool and the pictures are big and colorful to show the children. The information that is in the book is very good material to share with the children. Thank you!

Perfect for educating
Purchased to help teach my young kids human anatomy. The cartoony books were just confusing them. This way they can really see the bones, muscles, even functions. Very clear, high contrast illustrations and straightforward text.
