exponentially better than standard wire groom brush
It has been almost 3 months now since my purchase. My german shepherd sheds more than half the year; not only her thick, outer coat, but it's her fine undercoat that gets everywhere and clogs up my carpet. From the first moment I dragged this tool over her fur, I could feel the difference from my old brush. I could feel the Master Grooming Tools Pet Stripper hooking on to the undercoat and PULLING it off, not just brushing but grabbing and pulling. My dog didn't seem to notice any discomfort or act differently than the old brush, and due to the design, I could bear down harder without disturbing her skin. Our groomings have become less frequent now due to this tool working so much better and efficiently. Thank you, Master Grooming Tools! Your product is a little pricy, but based on other great reviews, I invested in one. The cost was well worth it: fewer groomings, less time vacuuming my apartment, and less hair everywhere. I only wish there was a model with more blades for large dogs like mine, but 16 blades was the most I could find. What do you say, Master Grooming Tools?

Not only does the dog enjoy getting brushed with this
I got this tool for my boyfriend as a Christmas gift. He has an Anatolian Shepherd who sheds an incredible amount and is terrified of a typical wire brush stripper. Not only does the dog enjoy getting brushed with this, but for the first time ever we're putting a dent in the amount he sheds around the house. The hair comes off the tool easily, making it a much easier task to remove his excess hair than trying to yank the matted hair off a brush. The price is right, the quality is good, and the tool works wonderfully.I debated about which size to purchase, and this seems to be the right number of teeth for Anatolian Shepherds. After the first use I had filled a plastic Wal-mart bag with all the hair that came off of him.

Not terribly impressed so far
Had this a couple of weeks and I think I've only used it twice but not very impressed.I've got one Beaghuahua (beagle/chihuahua mix) and one Pomeranian. This does almost nothing on the beaghuahua (very short hair and sheds a lot) except around her tail where it does get out some of the loose hair. It doesn't scratch her like the Furminator so she doesn't mind this one but it's not getting much hair out.It does get hair out of the Pomeranian (who has a permanently matted coat with a lot of undercoat) but the blades don't cut so it pulls at her skin and she definitely doesn't like it. She has the same issue with the Furminator but that one is basically unusable on her so this is still an improvement.

good news,bad news
First the good news. It seems to work really well and the dogs tolerate it better than the Furminator. It is heavy duty. I have three dogs...two Malamutes and a Golden Retriever. For me it seems that it works better on the short haired dogs and my two Malamutes don't relish being brushed but they don't seem to mind this. My Golden Retriever(my third) has hair that flows in all directions and this has some difficulty going with the flow...so to speak. It works on him but not as well as the Malamutes. The bad news is that this one isn't very wide. they do make a wider one. With large dogs it will take a long time to get each one done and you have to take the hair off the brush with each sweep. I imagine as you use it more often there will be less brushing necessary.Bottom line....this works better than other brands but if you have large dogs get the bigger size. Some other reviews think this doesn't get as much hair out. In my opinion, if this is less irritating I will be getting more hair out over time because they will be more prone to allow me to use it more without the attempts to flee the brush session.

Save yourself the time and money and just get a horse curry comb. Did not work well at all.
I have two labs that shed so bad and I bought this based on the reviews and it wasn't worth it. I get more hair out using the curry comb from the horses. I made sure that I was using it correctly, but it just doesn't work well. Save your money. It doesn't pull much hair out at all and actually just kind of glides over the hair.

Great item, rating is for high price
I thought this would be fantastic, from all the reviews I read, but it is no better, and actually has less blades than the Oster brand brush (25 blades!) I bought for $22 (tax incl) at Walmart a few yrs ago. Now I'm debating whether to send it back and incur the estimated $5.20 postage and handling, or give it away as a gift. Hmmm, a gift it shall be.

Works well and fairly gentle
I have a dog with LOTS of fluffy hair and a thick undercoat (a collie) so finding good tools to deal with that fur is a challenge. I'd had another dog owner recommend a Furminator and I tried that. It worked really well - BUT it seemed to cause my dog a fair amount of discomfort. Then my son sent me a review of this product saying it worked well and was more gentle than the Furminator, so I decided to try one.And I totally agree. This works great. It pulls out all the loose hairs beautifully, at least as well as the Furminator, and it definitely seems more gentle. My dog is less stressed by it, and you don't *feel* the sharp tug on the fur that you do with the Furminator. The reason I only give it 4 stars instead of 5 is because of the one thing the Furminator definitely does better. When you use one of these products on a dog like mine it only takes about 5 seconds to totally fill up with hair. On the Furminator that's no problem. There is just a button to push that ejects all the hair right into the trash or wherever you want it to go.No button with the product, so you have to stop and pull all the fur off by hand. Not a huge deal, but definitely a drawback compared to the Furminator. So it gets 4 stars and not 5.
