It has great charts that lists actual prices of furniture and equipment that you'll need, and how much investment is needed for the size and type of salon you're looking at opening. It really covers all the bases - finding things like a location, insurance, lawyer, contractor, and how to finance and buildout the space. It covers all the permits and licenses you'll need. It even includes tips on how to promote the salon, hire staff and how to treat customers. Lots of examples, floor plans, and checklists for the reader. Also includes a lot of great salon photos for inspiration. It also has a lot of comments from real life salon owners that tell you problems they had and what they would have done differently. Anyone thinking of opening a new salon or buying an existing salon really needs to buy this book. It will pay for itself in about 10 minutes.

Jeff Grissler's approach to success in the salon industry is simple in its' explanation but requires of the reader a "roll-up-your-sleeves-and-get-to-work" attitude. Grissler walks you step-by-step through the topics you'd expect with great insight and instruction along the way; but he also covers a lot of the back office fundamentals that are important in any business. Grissler invites the reader to "work smarter, not harder and benefit from my decades of experience." Working in the beauty school industry, I see students graduating all over the country and if there was one gift I could give them as they take their education into the workplace - it would be this book. And for all of the current salon owners out there in the world, do yourself a favor and pick up this book...you'll be amazed at how much you didn't know.

I've been a business owner for over 20 years but have never been in the salon industry. I wanted to get detailed information to find out what to look for and how to prepare to start up my own salon. This ready set go guide is extremely helpful and a complete guide to help anyone starting their own salon business. The book will tell you what to look for and what to do from start to finish. I am very impressed with this book and it has been very helpful. I would recommend it to anyone that wants to get started in the salon business.

I really enjoyed this book!!! The shipping took a really long time to get to me almost a month but I have the book now. This book is honest to the point its scary, which is a plus because opening a business is a huge deal and it goes over all the details that are easily forgotten when your excited to open your salon. For example it advises you to try to negotiate your lease but also know what kind of lease your signing so your not paying for more than you need as well as going to an attorney to have them review it so that you don't lose any money. I read this and the salon building bible together, the other book really focuses on the buildout and the retail. This one however goes into detail about things that are going to be very important, your computer system, permits things like this that may be overlooked that could make or break your business. A must read for anyone planning on opening a salon.

I have been a Salon owner for over 35 years and have had 5 salons in the past. Ready Set Go is the BIBLE SALON BOOK to read and follow if you are passionate about our industry,the guidelines and suggestions are simple enough for my 4 year old granddaughter to understand,if you do not get it then I suggest you not pursue the business. This book was good, but I wish it had more details on technology in the salon and more detail about systems that could help run the salon better.

This book provides valuable insight into not just opening a beauty salon but any business. This book serves as a roadmap for starting a business. Many of the chapters, picking the right location, negotiating a lease, space design and financing create a clear how-to path. This is an easy book to read and one that provides much useful information designed to make your business a success.
