Product Description Paris, 1993. Jacques (Pierre Deladonchamps) is a semi-renowned writer and single father in his thirties trying to maintain his sense of romance and humor in spite of the turmoil in his life and the world. While on a work trip to Brittany, he meets Arthur (Vincent Lacoste), an aspiring filmmaker in his early twenties, who is experiencing a sexual awakening and eager to get out of his parochial life. Arthur becomes instantly smitten with the older man. From writer-director Christophe Honoré (Love Songs, Dans Paris) comes a mature and deeply emotional reflection on love and loss, and youth and aging. In it's inter-generational snapshot of cruising, courtship, and casual sex Jacques forty-something neighbor Mathieu (Denis Podalydès) rounds out the triumvirate Sorry Angel balances hope for the future with agony over the past in an unforgettable drama about finding the courage to love in the moment. Sensitive story of the power of love and loss
Inspiring, emotional, yet tragic story of discovering love and facing loss. The line of poetry that came to me at the ending of the film was :« It is better to have loved and lost / Than never to have loved at all » (Tennyson) The characters are three dimensional and interact in a way that French cinema does so well. No Hollywood drama or histrionics here but rather believable relationships through which the story unfolds. The sad fate of people with AIDS in the 90s is underscored with great sensitivity. We have come so far over the past twenty years in treatment that it is no longer a death sentence. The ending is tastefully done, in no way maudlin. Keep a few tissues handy though.

or a nine out of 10
although this is another aids related film (one of several storylines,) it is superbly acted and directed. there is a different sensibility in the portrayal of the horror of those times before medication was found to assist against the affliction. the three main stars of the film portray characters of different ages and the story was beautifully written to reflect their experiences, or lack thereof, of the storyline. the characters made me feel like I was watching real people thanks to the writer, director and actors.

NOTHING
ANOTHER drama around a guy sick and goin down with Aids. Movies like this make me angry because film makers continue to propagate the myth that it's a gay disease. How many movies have you seen about str8 people with Aids? Anyway, the nuts and bolts: Good picture and sound quality. Noticed some errors in the subtitles. Actors are believable in their roles, but as I mentioned earlier I found nothing new or unique about the story. No nudity other than the obligatory butt shot and a few VERY softcore scenes. Oh well...

Love's Most Important Guest
This film really strikes an extremely poignant note of identity for those of us in the QUEER lifestyle. Yes it is a French language film, but that only adds to its effectiveness. I was fortunate to be stationed in Europe. I could not help but learn some French-a very beautiful language. While I could not identify will all parts of the message of this film, a vast quantity did!! NJMJr!!

Thank God for Foreign Queer Film! Superb. Melancholy, Real.
IN a world that is drowning in typical McHollywood Bilge, this is another refreshing contrast. Yes, it deals with AIDS and the 90s, but that's where the similarities to anything prior stop. It refreshingly deals with male romance, as opposed to just male sex. The characters are developed or developing (with us), and present a believable strata of relationships. And, as only the French can, it is highly nuanced with scenery, accessory over and undertones.

Quite a good movie
Could have been shorter; needs tighter editing. Beautiful shots of men's bodies, skin contact (no full-frontal). You may like it. Captions are out of sync.

Dreamy melodies of love
The film is very French , it’s cold but warm, sad yet funny and you feel as if the film is never focused and that’s because the characters lives are in despair deep where you can’t see but you can feel their weight. That takes great actors and script to pull off.

Out-of-sync subtitles sink the film
This was as confusing a film as I've ever seen. It has rapid-fire dialogue between various pairs of characters, and the subtitles appear a good two seconds after the speech. Toward the end, the lapse grows to four seconds. Much else was very good, but ultimately the confusion about what was being said and happening dominated. Really a shame.
