Lots of fun, but charge the batteries regularly
Most of the Sea Doo Sea Scooters are designed for use by scuba divers and snorkelers in the Ocean. This model, the Dolphin, is intended for use in the pool. For that reason, it is positively bouyant (i.e., it floats) and it is very easy to install and remove the battery. Sea Doo's more expensive ocean models can be made neutrally or negatively bouyant, and use a special pump to pop open the battery compartment. It is a ton of fun to use at the pool and always draws a crowd. My only complaint is the battery. If you don't charge it every 30 days, it'll die in just a few months. Even if you do charge it every 30 days, the batteries often don't last more than a year. And Sea Doo charges $75.00 + shipping and handling to replace them. Save yourself some money when that happens: Disconnect the old battery from the Dolphin. Cut off the wires that come out of the original battery, one at a time, as close to the battery as possible. Make sure you use a cutting tool that has insulated handles, or wear gloves, when you do so. Then buy a TR7.5-12A battery with F2 connectors and some F2 female spade lug connectors for about $18. You can buy them from a ton of online stores including Amazon.com. Connect the lug connectors to the end of the wires by stripping a small section off the wires, inserting them into the lug connectors, and crimping them, and then attach them to the battery. Voila! You've got the very same $75.00 battery for $18.00.

GREAT POOL FUN FOR FAMILY!!!!
MY KIDS LOVE THIS THING!!! First charge took over 24hrs but subsequent ones are about 12hrs. It lasts about an hour or so which is perfect for pool use. My kids are 9 and 12 and don't baby anything so it gets used hard and daily for about a month now and there are not issues to report. Great little scooter that can even drag my 200LB butt around the pool although a lot slower then the kids. UPDATE A year later original battery and used almost every day by kids and friends. One even opened underwater and this thing just keeps going. Left battery on charger over winter and had zero issues.

Novelty
This was a great novelty item that pulls my kids through the water nicely. It will even pull a 200lbs adult without any trouble. It is not super fast, but a nice steady 2 mph pull. The product works great and the kids loved it, but like any novelty, the fun was more in the novelty of it and it was used less and less as the summer wore on.

Obsolete, Dangerous Battery Technology
I was excited when my Sea-Doo Dolphin arrived. It is a lot larger than I thought it would be, but the build is pretty sturdy. My unit did seem to have been opened before and has some white dust on it. But the reason I'm returning it is that the battery is obsolete and dangerous. From the Sea Doo manual: "The battery supplied with your SEA-DOO SEASCOOTER Doplhin releases a potentially explosive gas during charging. Charging should only take place in a well ventilated area, away from children and naked flames or other ignition sources (cigarettes, sparks)." SAY WHAT?!? That's crazy. Similar warnings about gas build-up when the battery is removed or in the heat. Plus the battery needs charging every three months. Finally, the manual also says that operators with long hair should wear a swim car as there is entanglement risk. This is no doubt a cool toy but it seems pretty first-generation, and I don't want to worry about a toy "off-gassing" explosive fumes around my house.

Awsome machines from Amazon
These scooters are exactly as described. I bought 2 for pool use by my grandchildren aged 5 and 8. they were easy for them to operate. Within a very short time they were both swooping down to the deep end to pick up hoops and other small objects. They rolled and dived like dolphins. I have had many pool inflatables, jet skis etc but these are incredable value for money and they got so much pleasure out of them. I Was a little concerned that they might damage the liner but as soon as they were used I found that was not going to happen. When the kids finished with them they just let go and they floated to the surface to be removed at the end of the day. After only 1 weeks use I am so pleased that I bought them. The batteries do need a long first charge but bite the bullet as a lot of batteries have a memory and will not charge higher than that first charge. I did insist on the grandaughter with long hair wear a bathing hat just in case there was hair sucked into the propeller but the force of water coming from the scooter prevented anything from entering the very well guarded prop area... I have owned these machines for 3 years now and they are still going strong . I have changed out the batteries as the charge did start to get a shorter run time. The only other problem was the trigger spring on one rusted out and the trigger would not release. This was probably caused by the salty pool water. I bought spare stainless steel springs from Home Depot for about 5 dollars for a packet of 4 and replaced all of them.. The kids still love them and the poo will soon be open for another season of fun

so much fun for 3
so much fun for 3.5 year old grandson who had just learned to swim last summer - he LOVED this thing and shared it with all the many kids at the condo pool, who all loved it. Its way to slow for an adult to use for "fun" or adventure, but perfect for kids in a pool or maybe a lake. Lasted all summer so far, with plenty of use (couple hours a day all summer). I got an extra battery, cuz the battery lasts only 90 mins or so, and then, it takes hours to charge, so its great to pop in the 2nd battery and keep the kids swimming with it.

Loved it......when it worked
Its a shame I had to give this product only 2 stars because it the most fun we have ever had with a pool toy.. The very first time we used the unit, water penetrated the trigger causing it to stay on until the battery died. I contacted the seller who took a week to reply and told me to send it out for repair to another party. It cost me $20 to ship out. Three weeks later I got it back. The trigger situation was fixed but the unit was still taking on water and sinking. I contacted seller, they took another week to respond and told me to send it back to them. I shipped it out again, this time it cost $25. Many weeks later seller sends me an email stating that A) the unit was misused and dropped on its nose B)its too scratched up so they cant resell it. C) the unit is fine, it doesnt fill up with water They offered to ship it back or reimburse me $40. Wow! I already have over $200 into it. Do you think I was going to accept that insult. They lied about my treatment of the unit and that it didnt fill up with water. They were obviously trying to get out of their obligation to warranty the product that was documented as defective from the very first time I used it. I filed a claim against them with Amazon. So far the seller agreed to give me only $75. i appealed my claim and am awaiting the result. I dont know if Amazon will delete this but do not buy this product from the seller MedelsOp. The sad thing is I will probabaly purchase another one because it was so much fun. Judging by the reviews it seems a 50/50 chance that you will get a good one. Against the warnings of many reviewers I went ahead and purchased an aftermarket spare battery. Im pretty handy with electrical componets so I figured I would be able to find the connectors to make it work. WRONG. Im stuck with a battery I cannot use. The connectors are impossible to match

Poor customer service
When I received this item, the battery would not charge, even after it was left on the charger for over 24 hours. After talking to the company, they would not send me a new battery, but requested that I take the battery in to be volt tested and diagnose the problem myself. They claimed it could be the battery or the charger that was defective. When I requested that they send me BOTH parts and I would return what wasn't needed, they stated that they had too many part requests to comply with my request. All this was after three days of trying to get someone to return my phone messages. I am sorry I can't review the product itself, but the customer service has been so poor that I don't have a working product. It looks like great fun for the kids, and Amazon's return policy is great, so I rated it 3 stars and I will return it to Amazon.
