Spray with HVLP
Love this stuff when thinned appropriately (xylene?). Follow directions with regard to thinning and cleaning. Not all cans of rust-oleum use the same agent. This stuff, thinned and shot with an HVLP gun, goes on fast, looks great, and lasts. Doesn't even compare to spray cans. If you've never used and HVLP gun, look in to it. It's cheap, easy, and efficient.

Good product. Recommend.
Great paint. Went over some copper pipe and made it look new! Pretty odorous - but does what it should. Dries fast and odor dissipates quickly. Trustworthy brand and an honest process. True hammered copper look and color. Recommend.

Difficult to get even and consistent, but looks great when finished.
I bought this to paint MDF panels to make a slat wall. Because of the area of coverage I needed, I decided not to use spray paint. I'm not sure if that was the right call, but I made it work. My biggest mistake was that I didn't prime the MDF beforehand (so it definitely seemed to soak up the initial layers of paint), and that I didn't take some serious time practicing and using different brushes/rollers to figure out what worked best for me. This paint definitely has some big pros and cons. Cons: -Difficult to make consistent: it's easy to paint it on too light and just have a slightly gold color. In order to get the hammered effect, you need a thick coat, but it's easy to overdo it and get globs of paint in particular spots. -Strong odor: it produces a LOT of fumes (I painted in a large, open basement, with fans running, but the whole house reeked of paint for a few days. -Enamel paint is more difficult to clean - definitely buy xylene! Pros: -Looks: in the spots where we got the *desired* effect, it looks amazing! It has a very authentically metallic gold color and shine. -Durability: despite some scraping and scuffing, the paint doesn't show any signs of wear or damage. -Quality: The overall quality of the paint seems great, and I'm definitely happy with it.

Great paint poor packaging
We've been using this paint for years on our wrought iron patio furniture. Works great. Amazon didnt do a good job of packing it. Both cans are usable but both were dented and leake a bit

Looks real!
Excellent coverage with a single coat, but not anywhere near the sq ft it says it will cover. Shake very well and often and expect to need more.

Awesome
Rustoleum hammered paint is the greatest. It brings new life back to slightly rusted/oxidied projects. it is oil based so be prepared to discard brushes and rollers.

Color (BROWN) is not as the shown "oil-rubbed bronze" (a bit darker than chocolate milk with mettalic). Still 5-stars. [Photo]
Please note the 5-star rating I gave this item - the color is still very pretty. I just painted a metal fence with it. If you notice that this review is a year or so old, send me a comment, I will tell you how it holds up in the Southern California sun. I used a 3/4-inch nap roller to put it on. Worked beautifully. I don't know why the product description on Amazon says that two coats are needed. The can does not say that. But I did that anyway. What the can does say is that a second coat may be applied withing 4 hours (but wait about 30 minutes for the surface of the first coat to feel dry) or if not within 4 hours then only after 7 days. I did two coats. The hammered finish is really tiny spots on the paint surface - not really noticeable on the railing but may be more noticeable on an area of larger flat surface. The color BROWN is much lighter than the Amazon picture shows (accurately - it's the same on the actual can). The picture shows almost an oiled-rubbed bronze (venetian bronze) color. It's not. It's like a shade or two darker than chocolate milk but with a hint of metallic in it. Especially in the sun it looks light colored. Still I like the color. However, if you are very particular about it, I suggest spot testing it before doing the whole thing to see if you like it. It only takes 30 minutes to dry to give you a very good idea of what the final color would be. UPDATE: I painted something else in the backyard with it (a metal door under a built-in gas bbq grill) and this time I took a photo of the can with some paint spilling over the label where it says "Brown" so you can see the actual difference of the colors (everyone's monitors are different so this should help to see both colors at the same time and be able to have a point of reference). The over-spilled paint is dry at the time of the photo. You will also notice the texture on the metal door. It was smooth black (with pretty "decorative" rust spots :) ) before. Note though that although I used a 1/2-inch nap roller (not a 3/4" nap this time) and there are only two coats (as recommended), it probably is still much thicker than it should have been - i.e. I should have used a smooth surface foam roller, I guess. Or a wide foam brush. Still, it looks fine in reality and I am leaving the 5-star rating. Another note - you do need to drop your perfectionist attitude for 30 minutes at a time as there is no going back "to just fix this a little bit" until it dries to touch in 30 minutes. I mean if you try a minute later to go back to where it's still wet and fix that tiny missed spot, it will be like painting with the "Liquid Nails" glue - your roller will literally get glued to it and it will start becoming a mess (ask me how I know).

Copper stair rails
This hammered copper paint was just what we wanted! It was easy to work with, looks genuinely like hammered copper, it’s the perfect shade of copper, and was a perfect application for the steel stair rails! We also used it on wood—diluted it somewhat and got the perfect lighter colour with the same hammered texture. I searched many outlets for copper paint in a can—found lots of copper spray paint, but this was the ONLY can of hammered coppered I could find. To say we are pleased with the product would be an understatement…I would highly recommend this paint to anyone desiring a genuine hammered copper finish! Copper is enjoying time in the spotlight currently and I love the look with all The popular browns, tans, golds, rust etc… Sincerely EM Caines, NL Canada
