I have used probably 20 compressor in the last 40 years as a pro player, this is the best I have found in this price range! Does not create unwanted noise floor, better than Xotic SP ! Great compressor for your pedalboard, does not change your tone, very good, highly recommended! Just buy it!

The Whitey Tighty is a simple compressor pedal that does the job well. I have used it with electric guitars and bass guitars.The best thing about this pedal is that it is simple. It has 3 knobs and they turn smoothly.The "VOL" knob is an active master volume knob that has the ability to boost your signal. Yes, you can use this pedal as a boost pedal if you wanted to.The "COMP" knob determines the amount of compression that is being applied to your signal. Since it is just a single knob, it couldn't be easier to use. Just turn the knob until you like what you hear. That's good enough for me but some compression aficionados might not be satisfied with the limitation of having a single knob. For me, the simplicity is what I want.The "BLEND" knob makes things interesting. It allows you to blend in the dry (uncompressed) signal. This adds some texture and dynamics back into the signal. The effect is subtle bwhen you want it to be but really comes to life when you pick hard. You go from a nicely compressed sound to a dynamic sound that responds to your playing.The Whitey Tighty is compact and well-built. The quality level is typical JHS. It's nice.Keep in mind that this is a compact pedal and doesn't have space for an internal 9V battery. You have to power it externally.

Acoustic Guitar player here...I purchased the Clover peddle because my expensive guitar did not produce the volume of every other guitar at open mic ( my first open mic ). Anyways, I was so impressed with the Clover fixing this problem, I thought I'd get a compressor too ( I tend to use my guitar like a drum by beating on it too hard - hey don't judge Linda :)Anyhow, the effect WHITEY TIGHTY had on my sound was amazing. It was like I had a brand new guitar that corrected my action and maybe even my attitude... I'm telling you, this is the single most valuable thing I've bought for my tonal improvement... for a better delivery of my product. There's a certain harshness taken out of my playing.fyi... You don't need the Clover peddle, but, I put the Clover first/ then WHITEY... Seem to have some sort of hum the other way... totally quiet Clover first.

This is a great-sounding compressor that I can recommend, although you should be aware that the “Comp” knob does absolutely nothing, which is obviously an error in design. That’s right, this knob has no effect whatsoever, no matter how far it is turned to left or right. The pedal has a fixed compression ratio. Still, it is a great-sounding compressor and the 2 remaining knobs do provide quite a bit of flexibility.

Great little pedal, no frills, very solid construction. Highly recommended, great company.

The overall effect on my guitar's sound is really great. Levels out the sound and the sustain is fabulous.

Really heavy and solid feeling, incredibly effective and the parallel/mix dial is a stroke of genius. It won't suit everyone as, by it's very nature, it does soften the attack of your guitar. But for those that want that compressed tone, it's a fabulous sounding pedal.

I bought one - I sold it because I didn't see what it was doing - I realised what it did - I bought it again. This is one of those pedals that really does a great job of making your playing sound better. It does that compressed plunk at the front of every note if you set it up high. It smooths out rhythm playing set low and subtley. And it fills out soloing just about right with the right blend. JHS got this one just right - ts a simple pedal to do what is quite a difficult job when you're given all the potential controls on a more complex pedal with attack, decay, sustain, knee, threshold, ratio, etc. JHS has made the decisions for a guitarist and all we have to do is set the level and how much compressed guitar we want mixed with the uncompressed - blend control - perfect.
