Viper Pro GPS Module Smart Phone Remote Start, VSM550

I love this SmartStart module and app. Works well and I can start my vehicle with the mobile app no matter where it's located or how far I am from it (as long as I and it have reception). Things that I learned: --You can have your installer adjust the length of time your vehicle runs after starting. --You can use the app to take the key out of the ignition, leave your vehicle running then lock it. It's nice when you need to run in somewhere (your home, gas station, etc.) and you need or want to take your keys but don't want to shut the vehicle off. --In the app settings it shows a dashboard option which will display things such as the inside temp of the vehicle. It doesn't. I called Viper and was told that particular dashboard option was not actually available; they were just showing a planned upcoming design. Seriously? About a month after getting the DS4+ and VSM550 installed, I returned to get the security alarm add-on installed. Most factory alarms that vehicles come equipped with are not actually true security alarms. For example, they won't detect when somebody breaks your window or when somebody steals your wheels, they only go off when a door is opened. So personally, I'd recommend getting the security alarm add-on installed at the same time to provide a little added security. I purchased the add-on for only $99 and it comes with a separate alarm and a motion sensor. Viper's customer service, however, leaves a lot to be desired. Trying to get in touch with somebody for help takes a million confusing steps on the phone and the person who finally does answer is usually a "jack of all trades" kind of customer service rep, so they don't know much about Viper's remote start systems and the one I spoke to was not very professional at all. One thing to note is that some authorized Viper installers won't install the system unless you buy it directly from them. So check around first. I had mine installed at Best Buy. All and all, I really love the system. I've only had it for about a month now so time will tell how long it lasts. But so far it's great. Oh, and Amazon asked me to rate these 3 things: 1. Easy to install. Well, I had Best Buy install it. But it did take them a few hours. 2. Value for money. I think it's worth it but it's not a necessity in life, so that's really a personal opinion. 3. Thickness. Huh??

This item works great for my Kia Optima I have. The GPS Is accurate and the remote start works great.

Module is relatively responsive with commands over cellular connectivity, while bluetooth performance might depend on how well your phone's bluetooth radio is. Keep in mind that certain features may misbehave for newer vehicles. Newer model Mazda's may not provide the SmartStart module with immediate data, which will lead to the mobile app reporting incorrect states.

I will nit talk down on this product. I will however, talk down on Dodge as ut will not allow a professional to install it unless I have 800 dollars with of stuff upgraded to my challenger wish I could've had this on my vic.

I've heard great things about Viper and was excited to switch from a generic brand to this I had it professionally installed by the best guy in Vegas but it's defective it only worked for 2 months and now the return window is closed so I can't even get my money back very disappointed. And Viper recommend a brand name that isn't defective? Please and thanks

Llegó rápido y en buenas condiciones a Tamaulipas. Me lo instalaron en mi ciudad en unas cuantas horas, solo fijarlo y conectarlo, pero para darte de alta en el sistema satelital y que funcione, alguien autorizado de Viper debe darte de alta. Yo localize por Facebook, un técnico autorizado en ciudad de México que me cobró 1,100.00 pesos por darlo de alta y 2,700.00 pesos por la suscripción de un año. En total 3,800.00 pesos para ponerlo en funcionamiento. Me explico que después cada año hay que pagar otros 2,700.00 pesos. Todo por internet y tuve que confiar en depositarle casi 4,000.00 pesos a alguien que no conozco más que por internet. Por suerte resulto ser confiable. Funciona muy bien, me gustó mucho, tiene muchas funciones y al ser todo satelital sin intervenir un chip de telefonía celular, no estás a expensas de depositar cada mes y no falla si falla la línea de teléfono. Si lo recomiendo ampliamente si logras encontrar alguien confiable y autorizado que te lo de de alta.
