Can I use acetone based nail varnish remover?

No. It’s not strong enough. Needs to be pure acetone from a hardware store x

I live in England, what is the name of the acetone I should use and where can I find it?

Acetone has the same name in England, you can also find it under the name "propan-2-one". Normally you should be able to find it in a B&Q or Homebase, see a drugstore, or maybe in the DIY department of a supermarket.

How long does it last once made up?

I have had no win the original bottle for over a year. I even put some in a glass jar with a screw lid. It does thicken much quicker in the jar but you just add there thinner and continue to use. Great product. Hope this.helps.
