Does this work well for prepping for ceramic coating

I got this stuff to prep for paint job. It doesn't work that well. I would not buy it again. Look for some other brand.

Does it remove mold residue from the plastic when the panel was formed

If you are talking about a fiberglass mold you probably need something stronger first. If it's a injection molded piece or vacuum formed this should be fine. Just make sure you use the correct primer.
