Overkill, just the way I like it.
This thing is a monster CPU. There's no lag no matter what I've thrown at it unless I deliberately ran something to run up all 24 threads and then try gaming on top of that. Even apps that aren't able to multi thread run great, as each core is plenty fast enough. If you download the Ryzen Master program you can see each core in real time; clock speed, temp, etc. I am so glad to see AMD processors making Intel sweat again. One thing to note, you are going to want a liquid cooler setup for this thing, it's a 180W CPU and there's no way you wanna air-cool that.

Functions exactly as expected.
I have had no issues with it, it functions exactly as expected.

Solid CPU.
This thing is an absolute monster at rendering. Stability isn't great. I've had to tweak the heck out of my BIOS settings to make it not constantly crap out on me. Now that I have it stable, I get fantastic performance. Considering that the equivalent Intel CPU is something like twice the price, this is absolutely worth the price. I would recommend using a Gigabyte motherboard and RAM 3000mhz or faster. For clarity, this CPU is not the best for gaming. It requires a lot of tuning and settings tweaking to get it to an optimal framerate. This is not a gaming CPU. Definitely do not get it if you're just going to be gaming on your system.

WARNING: This is a used processor
Bought this because all indications on the page are that it's new. Came with none of the original packaging and has markings from a CPU cooler.

Good workstation CPU
First off, if you are looking at this (or any Threadripper CPU) for gaming, look elsewhere. Threadripper is decent for games, but the Ryzen 9 3900x or pretty much any recent Intel Core i7 or above will give you better performance for less money. That said, if your workload is more compute heavy and multithreaded, like video editing, 3D modeling and rendering, application development, and the like, it's hard to go wrong with Threadripper. The particular CPU I got overclocks well, and I was able to easily hit 4.25 GHz on all cores, though your mileage may vary. The only problem I have with this part is how much heat it puts out.

Phenomenal Processor!
This CPU is everything I was expecting from it and then some, it installed with no issues what so ever and my system booted right up.

All those cores, Pcie lanes and quad channel memory you want
This 2920x has been running beautifully on my main pc. Paired it with an ASUS RoG Zenith Extreme Alpha. It is set at 4Ghz all core OC. 12cores at 4Ghz with quad channel memory for this price ($360) is shocking.
